I'll have a few interesting things to share here in a couple days.  Trying to iron out the details and make waves.  All of my keys are no longer available in the classifieds until further notice.  This has nothing to do with the quality of the keys.  I'd like to use them for promotional material.

Keep your eyes out for CPTBAdAss's posts regarding my caps.   :thumb:

holy smokes they look good! :D  How do you like them?  So far not many people have received these :)

I can now see why you're working on v3! v2 has some clearance issues... but it still works. I'm just kinda afraid of breaking it as it comes in contact with the kb case.

The moose look even better in person. So the handecap was cast as 1 piece? and the moose is 2 piece (molded together)? Interesting.

Have you attempted to do any double shots?

I'm not aware of the hand-e-caps and clearance issues, but everyone uses different cases.  Don't worry the switch would probably break before the keycap :x... wait uhhh xD

The hand is cast from a 2 piece mold.  So... moose and hand use the same method of molding.  I hope this explains things.

I don't have the tooling to make an honest to goodness double shot.  If I create multiple colors they will be applied with a filling syringe.  I have not attempted this method with my current molds/subjects as it is time consuming, costly, and prone to defect.  Expect developments in the future. :D

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm a tad in love with that song now...

In other news I think people should keep their eyes out for any announcements from their favorite keycap website(s).

There may be some sort of notice going out about something that could be happening.  :-*

Plans for the future,

Recently there have been a few milestones reached in my exploration of casting.  I certainly don't want to just fall into a groove where growth is prohibited, and at the same time my lack of a real world social life has me labeled as a hermit by the people I love the most.  Some might find that to be a problem and I've been told to just slow down or make time by giving up this hobby all together.

I miss my friends, but I also miss creating things that people enjoy.  I miss making things that I enjoy.

My sister is very similar to me in a great number of ways, and recently we spent some time chatting about this project during my cousin's wedding.  She's much more talented than I am, so I was excited to hear her thoughts and gather anything I could from her experience in making models, casting, and concept design.

She is a freelance artist and occasionally takes on contracts from companies for type-set and large poster/banner art, but her background is a little bit in everything.  Right now she is trying to find some smaller projects to work on, and inevitably I asked her to do some sculpts and prints for us here at GH.

That would mean another set of hands making new caps for my Binge-Caps project as well as the chance for folks to get some rather interesting keyboard related artist prints!  Excited?  I totally am.  She seemed pretty excited to have the chance to try something new, so I hope this shows her a little bit more about where her art can reach.

I'm asking to get her to provide me with her tumblr page so that everyone can be updated with photos of her work regarding prints and other small projects.

:)

That's exciting, and nice to hear. The more designs, the better. Not everything fits for everyone, so variety becomes key.
