Title: Is Originative still in business?
Post by: phoenix1234 on Sat, 15 March 2014, 23:59:09
Hi,

Technically, until today, it has been 75 days Sheraton did not log into Geekhack. So I would like to post this topic in order to ask if Oraginative is still in business.
With all respects, would you please let me (and probably for other GH customers) about your plans for our orders.
The main reason that I post here is because the estimated delivery date for my Black Friday order has been passed.
Secondly, I saw the double shot sets are ready on taobao for about a month but some people said that they did not receive any information update.

Honestly, I really appreciate your great efforts to bring to keyboard community with a lot great stuffs like BSP dyesub, Korean springs, GMK classic, GMK Oliverrti, KMAC, lube...
So if you have any trouble related to manufacturing, to shipment or anything, please share. I don't mind waiting more but please estimate the delivery schedule as a professional business unit.

One again, appreciate if you have any update.

You don't have to log in to view a thread.

And sherry has not responded to multiple emails from people who have various orders for different products.

FWIW: I've ordered two packages (small) from Originative in the past 75 days and got both of them very promptly. I placed another small order on Friday. While I haven't heard anything about shipping yet, I am not worried.

I'm going to post this here, so we don't have drama later on, Originative placed an order (~$500 worth), with me in the sticker GB, which I am yet to deliver.

By GH, standards the order isn't very large IMO, however is still a substantial sum. I am going to try and deliver it ASAP, however I do hope this is not the reason for the absence. I do have a blue on beige classic set that I am yet to receive from them.

I highly doubt sherry not having stickers has anything to do with him disappearing, again.  8)

BUT IF he has fallen into a deep dark depression because he did not have stickers then IT IS ALL YOUR FAULT  >:D

 :p

It just sucks because sherry was doing so good communicating and keeping up with things but I guess he will be back apologizing etc....eventually.

I really hope that he will come back. He had some good stuff on a regular basis (you know GBs are great and all but buying something that somebody has in stock is not bad either) and I wanted to buy a set from him.

I can only speak for my rather limited experience, but less than a month ago I ordered a 65g spring pack and a thick krytox kit from Originative and received my package very quickly.
Title: Re: Is Originative still in business?
Post by: Glod on Thu, 20 March 2014, 21:52:50
I made a ~$60 order of springs, stickers, and GMK $3 escape (i figured hell i don't own one of these why not add it in) on Feb 21st

I have yet to receive order, i have sent 7 emails to both originative emails and a PM to sherry and still no package and no response explaining delay. I ordered previously around December and got my order really quick and previous 2 other orders the same very quick. So i didn't expect to be screwed over

At this point i just want my money back, my order was more of me wanting to stock up for future projects later this year, but with MOZ's eventual sticker shipment and Sprit's springs i really don't have need (that's to say sprit's springs match what i am looking for)

In some ways i am actually concerned something happened to sherry, like i said i had 3 other orders come out fine last year so I was not expecting this. I thought someone like mkawa or someone else had regular contact with Sherry and maybe could reach out and at least confirm that he is pulling a Profisist and not a Takaki (Phantom GB participants know what i talking about)

They were pretty consistent up till the last month or so.  But, this is pretty much par for the Sherry cycle.

I know I wish I had bought a beige set along with my dolch.
Everyone seems to be after gmk beige now.
My dolch set never came with its print screen key by the way,  missing keys seems to be a pretty common problem for originative.

Yeah this seems to be his standard routine. Maybe he'll make a comeback. Don't see him having a ton of luck with a group buy though honestly. He'll probably have to fork most of the cash. But I'm sure there are always some willing.

Still no response after 2 weeks...
The funny thing is, last week when I emailed with the possibility of adding more stuff to my order, I got a reply.
But when I asked about when my order will be fulfilled, never got a reply again.
Oh and because there was no paypal option on the site, I paid with credit card.
I would imagine opening a dispute with my credit card company to be more difficult than with paypal?
Anyone tried to get their money back?

Most credit cards have online access and one of the components is usually a very easy to use dispute system. The problem you run into is the amount of time you have to file a dispute.

Give Sherry a chance to refund you before filing any sort of dispute. Include the word "refund" in the email subject. My guess is that he'll process your refund quickly because chargebacks and disputes can put his business in jeopardy. (Though he's done a good job of that as it is...)

Thanks, I'll wait 2 more days before filling a dispute.

I've ordered from originative before(when the store just opened) and shipping was really fast, so I'm not sure if he is just really busy or out of business.

Yeah, I don't want to be a **** and ruin his business, so I sent another email explaining that I either need the keycaps shipped out soon or I will need a refund. Hope he sees my email.

Thanks for the advice!

I just want a response.   Even a "I'm really busy right now, but I'll get your order out asap" , or "I'm waiting on a shipment of lube and it's all mkawa's fault"  J/K of course.

Sucks, since I'd love to buy a Lightsaver kit  (I think only Sheraton was able to get them unless we can buy them directly from someone else) and I'd also love some capsets from him once he gets them back in stock.   In the meantime, I've already purchased lube, springs  (no one seems to have any stickers for sale LOL) and I'm still not looking to cancel my order.   Just want a heads up of some kind.....

Oh well......obviously I'm not the only one sitting back hoping on a shipment of goods purchased.

Email him with a catchy title for example Order Number Refund or Dispute or something. Then you will be more likely get a response.

I didn't dispute because like me and other's said earlier, the site was fine until recently, but this is getting really bad, he needs to just give an explanation and reassurance, geekhack members go through delays all the time but no communication is unacceptable.

BUT.
The name posted is in no way relevant to our discussion.
You are correct in saying that it is public information, but what are you going to do with this information?
Can you get in touch with originativeco using this name? Are you suggesting we could find this person's phone number? email?
originativeco's contact information is already available, connecting just this name with originativeco's lack of communication will just confuse google's crawler reading this page.
This could be damaging to a person with the same name.
Just my thoughts.

With no response to a few of my posts in these forum threads and a number of emails I've sent in the past month, I've started a dispute process with my CC company for my Black Otaku order. They're pretty quick to help so far.

It's been 118 days/nearly 4 calendar months since Black Friday, so I would encourage anyone else in my situation (ordered Black Otaku, having trouble getting in touch with Sherry/anyone else from Originative, not willing to have money tied into this buy anymore) to do so as well.

Truly hope you guys get your stuff! Everyone needs at least one dolch set :D

I think prices went up to.
$10 higher compared to the old price since base set is now $105 instead of $95, dont know if there're any new keys added to the set tho

I doubt there are any more keys. What I find so interesting is that the pre-order price for buying the entire dolch offering was between $135-140 and now if you bought it all your paying over $200. So either originative was losing money on the pre-order sets or they are now making ~$50-60 per set. And I know originative is a business and they deserve to make money. I have zero issues with that especially if they are willing to front the money to make MOQ, however given the recent lack of any information whatsoever, orders not being fulfilled, emails going unanswered etc. it would be really great if sherry could at least take a moment, get on here, do his apology thing like usual so people at least know they might eventually get the things they order.

When you front money for a GB you not only are at risk but also lose out money that you could have made even by just having it sit in the bank, since your money us locked up and could have been used for other money making objectives.

And eventually nobody will do business with someone that has zero communication and doesn't fulfill orders, oh wait that's how it works in the real world.

BroCaps did not buy them from Originative directly so the set is probably from before Sherry went missing.

Looks like he has chosed to no longer communicate or participate here and instead just use the website to interact with customers. Nothing at all wrong with that but there should be some closure here and/or removing the vendor forum. Also, previous orders/issues should be resolved.

Also, I believe a "charge back" varies between credit card companies but the maximum timeframe is 4 months (rare) and more commonly only 2 months from time of purchase. You can file a dispute but once its reviewed it would be denied if longer than the timeframe in your credit card contract.

I've never gotten a response from him, which isn't cool. Esp when I'm a paying customer who didn't receive what I paid for.

[snipe]

Posting real names on the internet is a bad idea, can you delete this?
this information is already on the internet, that is how he got the name in the first place. whois.net

I'm not the one posting the name :p just saying that the information is already online for people to search for it if they want.

So what he's trying to encourage is people putting more money into them while they have old customers with orders unfulfilled.  I know exactly what he's saying, he just threw the thumbs up because after his whine he got the keys.

I've been dealing with this **** for four months and these *******s won't reply to an email at three of their addresses and multiple voicemails.  If they are shipping out other stuff they are intentionally ignoring previous customers and should be treated like the snakes they are.

No one should be giving them any money whatsoever until the other orders are refunded or received by the buyers.

I'm going to have to agree wholeheartedly.

Originitive's site still "accepts" money for the "colorful dubleshots" ... probably Tai Hao but whatever that GB was supposed to be closed in November. Of last year.

Again, talking without any knowledge.

I've been personally trying to get clarity on the Black Friday sale since December.  I've sent a dozen emails and left three voicemails.  I've contacted sales, support, and Sheraton's personal Originative email.

They are selectively screening customers and that is that.  I have an open order on the website when I log in, it is listed as Paid and Unfulfilled. I've requested my money back on the phone and in writing.

I've also dealt with Sheraton as an individual and my experience there is that he will not waste a second when it comes to his money.  I bought a MJ2 camo off him in person and he called that night to accuse me of shorting him $5 on the in cash transaction, when he had neglected to realize I bought the $125 camo instead of the $130 linear r.

Do you know how you distract from a major problem?  You make waves elsewhere.  Where are the fixed legend keys that were supposed to be delivered with sets, where are the rest of the aluminum filco cases, where is black friday?

You getting Sanctuary is wonderful but they are not back, this is not a company that should be encouraged, and it's naivety to assume that giving money to them now has any promise of actually netting you a product.

Try to look at the bigger picture for a second as opposed to just your own, incredibly narrow, and completely personal anecdote.  I've been personally wronged here and there are others in the exact situation I am in and those who are owed much more from Sheraton.

1. Get the money back through your bank/paypal.
2. never deal with him again.

Personally, even though I received my keyset, I am very unlikely to deal with him again. I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. And if it sounds like I am, I apologize.

I also apologize for the thumbs up in my original post that got you angry, I'm just happy I lucked out this time. I will not be ordering through that site unless the problem that you pointed out have improved.

Thanks for your lengthy explanation! Good luck with resolving your problem with originativeco

I also came off as overly harsh and owe you an olive branch.  This whole thing has me salty and you should not have had to bear my wrath.

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39004.0 (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39004.0) The FS/T thread for the interested, I had to double check that I wasn't crazy but I had honestly blocked this event out for a while because it was so goddamn silly about the pricing.

If people have good experiences with Originative, I'm sincerely happy.  No one should be ripped off and you should enjoy the cool stuff that only Sherry has right now.  However, I would have to say that the only reason this vendor forum should be open is for people to try to communicate together and get their money back.  MKawa should let his lube kit conflict of interest go and realize he's facilitating someone who is using this website to scam members, plain and simple.  People should not have to roll the dice on whether or not Sherry has decided to be a businessman or a crook.

This is all well and good but I for one wouldn't mind a little "sherryton: Hey, guys! I'm alive!" on the forum.

And maybe a quick summary on where the orders stand.

I ordered from his website before but now I'm afraid to put another order until I know there is someone handling the site actively.

I hope he doesn't go all "takaki" on us.

I'm still waiting on a pretty expensive order - an aluminum Filco case and Black Friday.  Hopefully the revenue from new orders is being put towards filling old orders like mine.  Best case scenario is my case got shipped to him and is sitting around somewhere waiting for him to get figure out whose order it is and the radio silence here is to prevent adding to the huge backlog of emails he must have.

well i can confirm Sheraton finally responded but i'll wait until i have my simple yet expensive order of springs and switches stickers in my hands before celebrating.

i want to reiterate that i didn't have any problems with originative last year, he shipped my stuff fast and safe, I'd buy from him again if he gets his act back together and sends everyone their stuff on time and resolves these outstanding cap orders people have from last year. I don't know guys, wait and see. I can say for sure hes not a scammer to those worried.

The more we talk about him and the longer he doesnt respond on geekhack to accusations directly on his vendor forum makes me feel he shouldn't have a vendor forum, its just going to make it worse for him the longer he goes without addressing this on geekhack.

You can get mods without the base set. I picked up a set of Dolch winkeyless mods over a month ago. Probably just before this latest round of frustration.

Updated: 05th April 2014

Black Otaku was listed back today.
Does it indicate that Sheraton has received all Black Otaku and he is going to deliver to us including old and new customers?
We can wait a while and hope he will be back and respond to us.

Well I just heard back.    My order was delayed since the blue stickers I ordered were out of stock.    So I requested ANY other color sticker.   Waiting to hear back if the Dolch Winkeyless is still in stock?   So I'm guessing Originative is back to accepting and filling orders.   At least it appears so .....

Air mail can be stupidly fast if it catches onto the right plane, at the right time  (and if it doesn't take forever to sort through the ISC)  ;)

I kinda feel like if everyone keeps giving him business he has no incentive to reach back out to the community....

If his money stops coming in he would probably at least give us an update because that appears to be very important to him.

No, that would require the forum as a whole having a memory longer than a page and a half of a thread.

This threads starts as a where's sherry and my stuff, sherry silently puts more things on his site, thread turns into a I bought more stuff from sherry.

Well this forum doesn't have a problem providing originative a sub-forum even though sherry has decided not to come here and pretty much ignores most geekhackers.

I would say if any other vendor pulled this crap everyone would be up in arms about it and something would be done about it.

Why even have a VTOS if it isn't enforced.

I do as well. I've gotten an SSL error in the past, but nothing like this.

However, a VERY LARGE EXPLOIT was discovered in SSL the other day. Like, it totally breaks anything if you know how to. This is the third event of this size in the past 2 months.

I'd avoid ordering (or attempting to order) for the time being. Wait a day or 2 for it so sort out.

He started a forum post apologizing for being away so long.

Then he disappeared again.

i did receive my long awaited small but expensive order of springs and stickers. he was apologetic in his email for the lack in communication, apparently there was a inventory shortage of something i ordered and that prevented him from shipping me my stuff, If he would have just told me that a month ago i would be fine with the whole situation.

Id buy from him again if he gets his **** back together, but if he not going communicate on geekhack i think he should have his vendor forum taken away; just my opinion though.......

I'm not sure he should get his vendor forum taken away, but maybe suspended for a while or have some warnings posted.  Granted the people here at GH have been pretty good at warning people anyways.

Random new orders getting shipped, new products added to website, facebook status updated, yet still ignore inquiries for 6 month old pending orders ...

I just sent sherry another email, let's see what's going on

https://www.facebook.com/Originativeco

Quote
Happy Friday!

I am sorry for the lack of updates.

The colorful double shots are finally on their way. We ran into 2 problems with the company. Most of the funds were on hold by a middle man company who tried to convert the funds from USD to NTD. The holdup took us more than 6 weeks. There were also problems with the special boxes that your item comes in.

The Full Otaku ran into a dilemma as well through the company. We have everything ready, but we are in need of the winkey set and the 7x space bar. If you want your set shipped (without the winkey and 7x spacebar), then please e-mail us right away. We will ship the other items for free right after.

There are some new products:

- Russian Cyrllic
- Cherry Stabilizers
- Originative boxes
- Blank RGB (thick PBT)
- Light Savers

Things on the way:

- GMK RGB
- Dolch
- SoWaRe
- Titanium and other specialized keys.

Hands are clean of this damn place.  GL all prospective buyers, 120+ days later and no keyset I finally get to cancel my order.

PS

Super convenient that black friday special otaku orders are ignored until people cancelled and then suddenly the keyset gets restocked at a higher price.

Ordered three items -- GMK charred orange, 65 springs, metal key puller -- but only received the GMK set & springs.  No keycap puller.

The charred orange set came with several keys with noticeable scratches on them.  I'm guessing that's normal for GMK keycaps?  At least there's no key missing.  Thank god for that.  A huge sigh of relief since my sanctuary set from the original GB came with F5 key missing and Sherryton never sent me the replacement key he had promised.

I pretty much expected something to go wrong.  So I recorded the whole process of me opening up the package and checking every key caps to make sure nothing's missing.  I recommend you to do the same when you receive something from originative.   That way you have something to support your case if you ever need to file a claim etc.

Email sent and hopefully they do something about this.  If not, I'm out 6 bucks which I guess is not too bad considering what others have gone through.

Please be careful,

My order #1548 shipped to the wrong country, the seller should shipped the package to Baldwin park California same as the shipping confirmation but the tracking number said the package delivered to Singapore tracking number LJ932968767US, after I asked sheraton on the email, then he told me that he gave the wrong tracking number because my billing address is Indonesia but the shipping address is to Baldwin Park California, then I started to confused about his words, what is the connection by shipped the order to Singapore? which is not make sense at all, then after one week I waited but no more reply from sheraton about this problem, so I emailed the shopify's admin and then the admin said that the seller has responded that the package was never shipped to Singapore, the seller told to the shopify's admin that the package was shipped to the correct address in Baldwin Park California. If the the seller really shipped the package to the correct address where is the correct tracking number?  why sheraton never respond my emails ? instead he can fast answer the shopify's admin on email. Then the shopify's admin advised me to start the charge-back process, sheraton act very strange what happened with you, why you must lie to us?  Why you gave me the wrong USPS tracking number LJ932968767US ( delivered to singapore ).

Thank you for placing your order with Originative!

This email is to confirm your recent order.

It's ok.

People will still order from his site.

It's like ordering flowers to be delivered on Valentines Day and not having the flowers delivered at all.

When you call up about it, they only give you a 25 percent off coupon.

Not a refund. Not a re-delivery. 25 percent off! WTF!!

Then you do a chargeback on your CC if you can.

I just sent sherry another email, let's see what's going on

Just FYI since people are still debating whether to order or not.

Surprisingly sherry replied my latest inquiry, after ignoring me for almost 2 months (4 emails sent over that period).

He told me that he didn't send my order because of the issue with taihao doubleshot mentioned in his facebook update.

However I cancelled my DS long time ago. I only have GMK in my order. And he never mentioned issues with taihao since nov 2013.

He said he'll ship the GMK, but I'm not convinced until I have a tracking number at the very least.

It seems like his business is very unorganized. And sometimes he'll refer originative as "we", not sure if he's running this by himself or he has helpers.

Anyway, I think he stopped bothering to come to GH and he has a hard time keeping track of orders.

I'll give another update if he ships.

I mean, quick shipping like that is typical sherry. I think whatever he was doing is now done, and he has time for this again. Or, at least I think that's what's up.

He responded very quickly and said he will send out the missing item.  Pleasantly surprised.

I can confirm he sent out the missing item in a timely manner and I received it within a week.

BTW I absolutely love this key puller.
I get why Koreans were all raving about how this one is so much better than the wire puller :D

do keycaps scratch that easily? i've never noticed any scratches. the teeth on the edge arent that sharp.

Yeah edges not that sharp.

My only complaints is that it gets bent and twisted rather easily when using on tight fitting keycaps. (ie MX Clear stem + Dsa retro such a PITA)

the plastic rings ALWAYS scratch my caps when i use them.

i'm pretty sure at this point that it always scratches, but the regular users don't consider them to be an issue and therefore don't call them scratches.  sor of like the wide array of 'good condition' cellphones.

They're definitely still in business, though slow to reply. Sheraton has just sorted out some issues with an order I had (none of it Originative's fault: daft customs officials in my country) and though he did take weeks at a time to come back to me (he's clearly very busy), he was as good as his word. I used three email addresses, sales, support and Sheraton's and the replies came from a mixture of those.

I've only used sales@ and received replies from sheraton@ but it sounds like the issue(s) you experienced can't be attributed to email addresses. That sucks :/

The first email was about payment, I paid with btc and had a tiny struggle. He confirmed that the payment went through and that he had my order down, and just wanted to check Shipping information, Which I assumed was my address+postcode+ect and was what I replied with. No reply after that.
The other emails where just checking how it was going, if it was shipped etc. These were sent with roughly a month apart, starting in January, latest being 2-3 weeks ago.
