Love the variety of caps and cases here. Everyone has their own personal flavor, haha. Some very nice boards.

Not sure I could ever make the switch to an arrow key-less keyboard, but the design of the Poker has a simplicity and solid, compact appearance that reminds me of the HHKB. One day I'll get my hands on one to play around with.

Poker II with Cherry MX Blues.  Black keys are doubleshot from a new Cherry board off eBay from a few years back for $10.  Space bar is from elitekeyboards as are all the red doubleshot keys (except the geekhack that came from here). Blank red and blue are stock as is the caps lock.

Pink, aqua and white cases seem best for Miami - mine looked great on my KeyCool white case.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I was a little unsure before I ordered the case as to how it'd look with the switches etc visible but I really like it actually - just a hint of colour showing out under the caps :)

Couple of photos of my as out of the box ISO Poker 2 (brown switches), slightly pleasant surprise not to see "enjoy your feeling" on the space bar  ;)

Only thing to note with getting the ISO version is the bag of extra keys is the same as the ANSI version so the left SHIFT cap doesn't fit.

Wasn't loose for me. In fact, while I was putting it on the Poker 2 MX Blues, I find that I had to press harder than usual before it slid in with a nice click sound. In fact, I was worried that I will have issue taking it off later. I really have the impression it is hard, not loose.

I thunk my set is inconsistent with the rest. I still don't like the font though, quite ugly

I've had the Poker for a few months but the board's awesomeness is doubled by the spherical caps on it from Deskthority's Round 4. The odd sized keys are going to be replaced and I'll get them along with Round 5.

Sure thing. There's another keyboard forum called Deskthority which runs large group buys. Most notably the insanely large Round 4 and the in-progress Round 5.

someone runs a groupbuy.  it's successful and people post pictures of their new keycaps.  other people who didn't buy are now jealous and want some for themselves.  those people will ask the GB organizer to run another 'round'

round basically means a repeat of a GB; think of it like restocking shipments.

It's actually different in this case.  The Rounds in question are typically entirely different keysets, rather than reproductions of previous rounds.  It's just a massive GB that's run once a year or so in Rounds, much like nuclearsandwich said.

I'm seriously considering picking a Poker II but I need to know: I've read the Poker II is programmable, does that mean I could replicate the HHKB arrow key, etc functionality on this?

Eg: program it to make Right Shift+; = Arrow Left, etc?

If I could this would be one killer little board! Also, is there a limit to how many programmed keys can be stored?

Edit: discovered it requires the Pn key to be held down. That's a pity. Would a remapping app such as KeyTweak be able to remap the Pn key fully to a different key? I'm also not sure if modifier keys such as Shift can be used while Pn is held down.

Any answers to this be awesome  :thumb:
