Here is my Poker2, I wanted an ali case but it's just too much a stretch for me, so I decided to modify the plastic case. The bottom is vinyl dyed white, I would like to paint the edge of the circuit board black too. Hope to add some leds (and keycaps!) in the future :)

Any more shots of your desk and the rest of the setup? The stands you made up for the base of that Dell monitor looks pretty clean, I bet the rest of the desk looks pretty amazing!

Thanks man :) I posted a reply to the desk setup up thread here with a link to an imgur folder with some pics. Can you guess what the Dell stand is made from ?  :)

Ha! That is awesome! Really such a clean little addition. Where did you buy the colors etc that you needed to make those from?

Each block is 6 x 10 lego units, I already had the 6x10x1 grey bases (two of these per block) in my loft. The white blocks I bought from this ebay listing (6 of these per level), but the blocks around the back that you can't see are older ones from my loft stash. The Flat tiles on the top of each block are from this ebay listing, 15 of these per block (the block at the back has flat tiles I already had).

Regarding the grey colour, I've done some quick googling before just announcing they are just grey  :D The 6x10x1 panels are original Lego grey, but apparently Lego changed their grey colours to a more bluish grey in 2004, and Lego aficionados called this bley lol The blank tiles (part number 3068) I have are Medium Stone Grey (Lego colour ID 194), aka light bluish grey / light bley.

The 6x10x1 plate part number is 3033, and the iconic 2x4 brick is 3001.

My 24" Dell monitor is therefore sitting on 6 3033's, 45 3068's, and 90 3001's :D

More info than you probably wanted lol

Got bored. Put my Ducky gold ninja keys on my poker. Might stay like this for a while until I mod the key switches.

Thanks guys!

Those caps are, indeed, a WASD etched set.
Some areas are a bit uneven but I don't think the etching process was ever made to do solid colors like this anyway. They look a lot better in person too.

Vintage blacks were made of different material, supposedly, so they feel smoother (low friction) vs. modern black.  The spring is also VERY slightly lighter.  Smoothness is not something you can fix with lubrication--it only helps a little.  To get smooth switches, you need to use them a lot or get lucky and start out with a good smooth batch.  Vintage blacks happen to start off with low friction.

Thanks for explaining. Is there a spring that feels almost the same as the vintage?

The difference is quite small.  Something like a 67-68g Korean spring maybe--just a guess.

Spring doesn't matter.

What matter the most is how much the friction it is.

Well, vintage black basically you can almost feel no friction at all.
Unlike the modern black, red as well.

In contrast to what has been said in the thread, some people also feel that vintage blacks are just more broken in, so the differences you see are the result of age and wear.

How about vintage Blacks that come directly from brand new "old stock" of keyboards, like Wyse terminal keyboards.  Those have not been used.

New MX black switches begin to feel like vintage MX blacks after using them a lot.  They get smoother with use.  My W, A, S, D keys feel very similar to vintage blacks, though keys I don't use often feel rough.

That looks a bit weird. You have your controls as blue when they should be red on a typical RGB setup, the spacebar should be white and so should the |\ key......

If you like it then that's all that matters. Don't worry about how it "should" be, because its your keyboard and not anyone else's.

Your QFR looks fine, sir!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Nice! LEds are cool. Is there a resource or guide anywhere on how to install them?

Here's how my poker 2 looks now, I vinyl dyed the spacebar charcoal grey, which looks more black actually, and burgundy on the mods. I mighttt paint the rest of the keys charcoal grey, but I'm not sure yet. I'll stick with this for awhile to see how it goes.

The tab is kind of dirty, but I cleaned it already, don't worry :p

I really like how that turned out.  That burgundy looks fantastic.  Then again, I've been wanting a burgundy/maroon and white set for a while now.  Just for symmetry's sake, I wish the "|\" key was that burgundy color too.  And it reminds me that I shoud probably swap the SP BoW caps onto my QFR so I don't have a mix of blank and legended caps.

Thanks. Is there a standard on the \| and `~ keys? I often see them colored the same as alphas, so that's why I did it like this. But I guess its all preference isnt it?

You should really check out vinyl dye if you like blank caps. It retains the texture pretty nicely, way better than spray paint imo, and no other prep is necessary. Its quite awesome.

Trick or Treat. My daily driver for October is getting closer.

The case is an acrylic from ALI. The quality seems good I'm quite happy with what I have seen so far. There is no PCB inside so the spacebar may appear a little crooked.

Trick or Treat. My daily driver for October is getting closer.

The case is an acrylic from ALI. The quality seems good I'm quite happy with what I have seen so far. There is on PCB inside so the spacebar may appear a little crooked.

That looks awesome. Nice skull! Is it just me or is your spacebar tilted to the right?

Some sets match them to the Alphas, some to the mods.  I prefer them matched to the mods, same with the "~`" key.

I love it, but THAT Tab key :(

Talking about how the arrows are too high and the bottom one is centered on the word Tab instead of evenly spaced?

Yes, but I don't want jcrouse to think I'm bashing his board/caps. It's something Sherry and/or GMK did wrong and I think jcrouse's board looks lovely despite this :)

Stock PBT ftw.

You should totally paint the rest of those keys! The uniformity will make it look so much better imo. The colors are fantastic too!
