aek II for $13 shipped on ebay
« on: Fri, 19 December 2008, 02:20:46 »
bought it. :) Just gloating.

the average selling price for it seems to be about $30 shipped.

I hope its in good enough shape that I can harvest the dampers/sliders.  It was the right part number (m3501). I just want to try them out and at this price I couldnt resist.

I'm also getting more interested in itln style experiment with alps, maybe I'll remove the leaf altogether but use the dampers.

There are five in this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-Extended-Keyboard-II-M3501_W0QQitemZ120351598860

$10 plus $30 shipping though. I think there are a couple right now for $30 total (with shipping).  The one I saw seems to have been a freak of pricing, tho it was also a little dirty, maybe thats why the guy discounted it so much. I just need the dampers, hopefully those are fine. It was basically $13 with free shipping.

That seems alot. I didn't see a shipping fee, probably because I'm in the UK. They won't ship outside of the US.

That is a good price. They wanted $29.95 to ship to the UK.

I just bought one of these on a whim... ($11 shipping to where I live.) What exactly do I need to connect it to a modern machine?

Unless your definition of "modern" is a blue and white PowerMac G3, you're gonna need a Griffin iMate ADB to USB adapter.

I think you only need an adb to usb adapter (the most popular one (the only one?) seems to be the griffin imate).

(or what bht said)

Thanks for the info. but wow, didn't realize the adapter might cost me more than the board it self :|

ya :) If you bid on it tho, average selling price seems to be around $20, IIRC.

blue & whites were usb, you'd need the beige one to use ADB

As on the iMac, USB has practically replaced ADB, but Apple left one ADB port on the B&W G3 for legacy peripherals.

The Yikes G4 based on the same motherboard dropped the ADB port, but the B&W G3 most definitely had one.

I haven't been able to persuade myself to buy used 'boards with all the new and NIB options currently available.

just find some friends and make a group buy - you can take 5 keyboards at the price of $7 each (you will have to make an offer) and the seller will ship all of them for another $50 to Europe (second shipping choice) , so this makes $85 for 5 keyboards, $17 for a nib alps keyboard is a pretty good price imho. i bought two and after that I saw that the shipping for 2 was the same as for 5 but it was too late to cancel the order. when they arrive and if I like them, I'll take another 5 with some friends willing to try a mechanical keyboard.
