[Review] Vortex Race 3
« on: Mon, 29 May 2017, 23:39:48 »
I really don't understand why Vortex kept the 1.5u keys on the top row, but at least the stock keycaps are decent now.
To summarize, it could make a decent travel keyboard for enthusiasts who don't want to swap its caps. Otherwise, it's a package deal for non-enthusiasts who want something nice.

I write for GoMK. You can read more here: http://gomechanicalkeyboard.com/vortex-race-3-review/

They use the 1.5's on the top row so that there are no gaps between the keys.

My bigger problem (and this has been a problem on all of them) is the FN and Backspace modifier that opens Calculator. That messed me up so much I ordered a low profile keycap for the FN key to stop it from accidentally being triggered. It drove me insane.

Seems like a huge upgrade from the original though, which had TERRIBLE caps, no plate (and a plastic case so it flexed), poor paint and then you could pay a fortune for it if you found one. Despite all of this and the fact that keycaps are pretty non-existent (I custom ordered a set of WASD), I still liked mine a lot and still use it on occasion.

An MX board that doesn't offer standard sizes is just a waste of money, so I doubt it will sell well. It won't even compare to the pok3r's following.

Believe it or not, most people don't buy aftermarket key caps. Most don't even buy mechanical keyboards (weirdos!).

I know it's shocking, but it's true.

i thought the reaction of kbwarriors on Top Clack 5/18/2017 was hilarious  :))
Got it queued up for you all

07:54 fake DSA Granite did not now that was a thing..much less that these are fake dsa granite.
To be honest i think Hasu ruined me for any mass produced keyboard that isn't programmable anymore.
Sinds a couple of days i'm using the FC660C with Hasu module in it and i love the freedom of programability need to have that on my other
FC660M with MX-clears.
But i'm going to sell that one of since it's pretty rare Leopold isn't selling mx-clears anymore so it wil fetch a good price since it's my spare board i want to fund my first build keyboard if i can with it.
