New blog post for the 3 people who read it
Aww, I've read all dem blog posts. People get around to it
I think you have a decent line of communication open to everyone. Today, for example, you were pretty fast to reply to me. However, I think everyone understands that you two have other obligations or that you're just busy. You guys have turned out a ton of caps within a short period, and that's not easy.
On another note, I don't like the exclusiveness you have with your use of slack. A lot of people aren't allowed on there/not been invited/don't care to use it. The fact I had to find out about when this particular sale was happening from someone on there, and not from your newsletter, was rather annoying. demik will agree with me here. There's nothing wrong with hyping your sales or having interactions with people, but when it becomes exclusive, that's meh.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention Beehatch. In terms of Slack, I admit that I have given
general information about releases before the newsletter. However, our policy is that newsletter people will always be the first to know the precise times and provided links before anyone else.
I understand that this may seem exclusionary for those who do not participate in Slack chats. We appreciate your feedback and will be more cognizant of this moving forward.
As an aside, we find that people who sign up for our newsletters have different preferences for how often they want to be updated. For every sale we've announced, there have been a handful of unsubscribes. We find that there are people who only want to be alerted when a sale is live and those who want to updated with every change. Striking that balance has been difficult.
At the current time, we are considering a secondary mailing list for contests, small updates and blog posts. That way, people can opt in at their discretion. If anyone has any feedback on this idea, please feel free to share your thoughts.
