I think what Vinny was saying is this:

100 sales @ $70 = $7,000
$7,000 / MOQ 75 ($79) = 88.6 ~= 89 main kits.

So as soon as you have over $7,000 worth of money from the main kit sales, you could buy it at the lowest price, no? Sorry if that is totally naive  :)

EDIT: missed some zeros when transcribing, the maths still checks out though... I think.

That's precisely what I meant, but now I see that I worded it in a pretty confuse way.

Actually, two of those 50 are nubbinator and me, so there are actually still two spots left for the nubs raffle. Shoot me a PM if you want to change your order to the 50 mark and get one of the last two spots.

Ordered late last night at 50, did I manage to creep into that last spot ?  ;D

Yep you're in the raffle!

You may have missed it, but I corrected myself because I accidentally counted Nubbinator and myself, and we don't count. So there is actually still one take spot left!

And with that, the Nubbinator raffle is closed!

I'm not sure how I'm going to announce winners, but it definitely won't be before invoicing. I'm open to your suggestions!

A fight to the death with keyboards as weapons?
The Alps cover 65% of Switzerland's surface area (41,285 kmē), making it one of the most alpine countries. Despite the fact that Switzerland covers only 14% of the Alps total area (192,753 kmē),[2][3] many alpine four-thousanders (48 of 82) are located in the Swiss Alps and practically all of the remaining few are within 20 km of the country's border.

I think he means the actual announcement.  He said it won't be before invoicing, so you won't be able to back out after you find out you didn't win, but he's not sure how to do it.  Just post a list on the forum like you said, send out letters in the mail announcing, or have a parade with fireworks, etc.

(assuming I'm interpreting both your message correctly :)) )

I definitely think it'd be cooler for it to be a surprise someone sees upon opening their package. ie, not knowing until then.  :thumb:

As of this morning we're at 86 base kits committed out of 100. We only need 14 more base kits and the price drops down to $70!

We also hit 100% for the blue spacebars, and we're 2 away from the AEKII spacebar MOQ.

Also, I don't think I announced it officially, but I did end up adding 2U row 4 gray blanks to the list. So if you've already ordered but want a spacebar for your Alps Planck, or maybe some modifiers for your Ergodox, PM me and I'll add them to your order.

I don't get how we're closer to 100 than 75... That's gotta be some advanced level math.

I don't get how we're closer to 100 than 75... That's gotta be some advanced level math.

It's very easy: more people have committed to join at the 100-level price than at the 75-level price. So once it gets to 100 - that number it tips.

Nope... Not getting it... But it doesn't matter, I'm used to it.

Ok so 53 people so far are joining no matter what, 7 people will join at 75-level but 26 will join at 100-level. Since 100-level is cheaper than 75-level, all people who will join at 75 would also join at 100, so that's 33 people total who would join at 100-level price. So if you do the math 100-33=67. So if 14 more people join (67-53) then the reserve of people waiting to join at the lowest price mean we reach 100 total. For 75 we would need 15 (75 to reach - 7 committed - 53 committed at 50).

So here are the actual numbers:

26 people are willing to pay up to $70 (100 MOQ)
7 more people are willing to pay up to $79 (75 MOQ)
53 more people are willing to pay up to $94 (50 MOQ)

If you are willing to pay $94, you're also willing to pay less. Likewise, if you're willing to pay $79, you're also willing to pay less.

53 + 7 = 60 people willing to buy at the 75 MOQ, leaving us 15 short.
53 + 7 + 26 = 86 people willing to buy at the 100 MOQ, leaving us 14 short.

OK, I got it now. I didn't consider that the numbers for 75 were so low.

I figure there are mostly two types of people here: the people who say, "I want these caps to happen no matter what the cost," and the people who say, "these are cool, I'd like a set but I'm not willing to spend that much." There's not a lot of middle ground in there.

I also had the nubs raffle, which probably pushed some 75 MOQ people over the edge to the 50 MOQ (which was kind of the point).

Well, now that we know the caps are being made the thresholds don't matter as much.

They still matter. Because right now only 54 sets are guaranteed to be made. The 75 and 100 people still need 15 or so more people to join before they'll get their caps. So if you're joining at this point you need to evaluate how badly you want these. If you don't want to risk your caps on 14 other people's decisions, you still have to join at 50 and just hope that the price makes it down to $70 by the end.

Also, I don't think I announced it officially, but I did end up adding 2U row 4 gray blanks to the list. So if you've already ordered but want a spacebar for your Alps Planck, or maybe some modifiers for your Ergodox, PM me and I'll add them to your order.

Might want to update the OP with that and put a price on the 2u keys  :thumb:

I think what Vinny was saying is this:

100 sales @ $70 = $7,000
$7,000 / MOQ 75 ($79) = 88.6 ~= 89 main kits.

So as soon as you have over $7,000 worth of money from the main kit sales, you could buy it at the lowest price, no? Sorry if that is totally naive  :)

EDIT: missed some zeros when transcribing, the maths still checks out though... I think.

That's precisely what I meant, but now I see that I worded it in a pretty confuse way.

I think the confusion above comes from the statement that: $7,000 / MOQ 75 ($79) = 88.6 ~= 89 main kits (because there are only 62 people cumulative in the $79 tier).

Edit: removed controversial math.

Are you seriously asking the highest price tier people to subsidize the costs so that those unwilling to pay more don't have to?  I want this set to happen, but that just establishes a ****ed up precedent.

Not going to happen. Even if the buy stalls at 99 units, the 50 MOQ folks will get their kits. I might ask the $70 people to pay $71 if they want their sets, but I wouldn't ask that of the people already committed at the highest price.

Ok I'm confused. Is the structure not like a Massdrop buy where the pricing changes depending on who joins and when things tip? Or am I locked in at the $94/set?

It's like massdrop with an extra middle commit tier.

Shoostep was talking about something very different.

I'm sure njbair'll chime in when he can, but I clarified with him right after the GB launched, and he explained that everyone gets the same price once we hit the next tier.

He simply added the tiers to allow people to commit at the price they felt comfortable with rather than have dozens of people waiting until we hit that tier to commit. As you can see from the spreadsheet, I definitely think it has worked.

Yes, if the 100 MOQ tier is reached, everyone who ordered at 75 MOQ and 50 MOQ prices will get those sets at the lowest price.

I ordered once set at 75 MOQ and one set at 100 MOQ. So, if the 100 MOQ is reached, I am ordering two sets total at the 100 MOQ price. If only the 75 MOQ tier is reached, I am ordering only one set at the 75 MOQ price.

As of right now, all we need are 12 more orders at the lowest price ($70) to make the MOQ.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Everybody pays the lowest price depending on the MOQ we hit. So if you committed at $94 but we reach 100 sets, you only pay $70.

This is just like any other group buy in that sense. I'm not sure where the other ideas came from but it's just making things confusing so let's put it to rest.
