This is a really cool concept. I'm mildly curious about the magnets affect on the circuits though.
There probably shouldn't be any appreciable induction occurring but I definitely wouldn't try this with a hall effect switch.

No induction with static (not moving), permanent magnets... And you have little moving parts around.

we are still working on this in the background as per my last update but we are both busy with other GB's at the moment so progress is slow until those are underway

We are both still super excited to share this with the community though

ah but the magnets ARE moving when you press down on the top plate. Just not very much. Also they're not moving through a coil so it's not going to do anything. However neodymium magnets might be enough to screw up the function of a hall switch, but that's a moot point since this board doesn't support Alps anyway.

An unbelievable mounting system, wow. While the board isn’t my style, this feature is pretty insane - huge props!

What are you talking about, magnetic field decays exponentially with distance. You'd need the switch and the magnet to be extremely close to trigger a false hall voltage lol

Yes I’ve posted above. There are actually three prototypes around with various members of the community rn

If you scroll up you can see where I streamed the proto of the board and the movement you get with the MagLev system. On mobile rn or I’d drop the link again.

MagLev seems really promising. I sincerely hope you guys will be able to accomplish this. Good luck!

Any chance y'all had the idea of a 60 or TKL with a hotswap ANSI or bottom row Tsangen layout? That would be perfect for me.

We have the 65 working in full and just need to do some tweaks. We aren’t considering other layouts just yet as we want to make sure this one is good first

So yes, there is kind of an update

We've had proof of concepts for over a year, Working Prototypes since April 2020, but a lack of time since. The big challenge is for Flex and I finding time between day jobs, ongoing Group Buys and other projects to make the final revisions.

Case design - 95% done
PCB design - 95% done
Final R&D - 80% done
Some final tweaks needed and a range of materials to test for mounting options, a final round of prototypes to manufacture and then we will look at next steps

We are planning to look at this early this year

The top half of the design feels a little uncanny to me. Not even the bezels but the missing top right 1u key with nothing replacing it and a distinct lack of character make it seem slightly unfinished.
Bottom half looks fantastic.
Maglev concept is extremely intriguing. Looking forward to future of this project.

Just watched the stream, I am extremely impressed! This is probably the most interesting board I have seen. I really hope the GB will be unlimited so I'll get to try this innovative mounting method and the new typing experience.

I second this. unlimited group buy would be nice, im ok with slightly longer wait times if need be
