Circuithub - Massdrop/Kickstarter for keyboard PCB's?

http://hackaday.com/2014/11/13/circuithub-launches-group-buy-crowdsourcing-campaigns/

Seems like this could be perfect for PCB group buys, they do full assembly as well. Haven't looked at MOQ yet cos I'm on my phone but I'll do some research and see if we can get something happening soon.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

No worries, I'm very intrigued by this service. Seems like we could do a 5x4 GHPad to match 60% boards without much fuss. I've got a PCB sitting here now but the SMD soldering is way too daunting to tackle unfortunately.

SMD is easy stuff, man. Give it a go - you won't know how easy it is until you try it!

Haha you haven't seen my through hole soldering! I just need some more practice really but I just don't have time these days, got Margo building my CtrlAlt60 :P

That is pretty cool - and essentially what we do here normally.  When one custom PCB costs $300, while getting 100 of the same PCB brings the price down for each to $20 (example only).
Quoting me causes a posting error that you need to ignore.

Going to resurrect this thread as I finally had a chance to try out the quote function with a 5x4 version of the GHPad PCB. Took me a while to select all the correct parts but I think I have it nailed down now.

25 PCB's fully assembled with ATMega32u4, diodes, resistors, bootloader switch and usb port comes to $40 a board with free shipping. Someone should really give it a go with a full size PCB, the price scales down quite nicely once you start getting past the 50 mark.

Do they ship internationally and is it free as well?

Yeah from what I can tell worldwide free shipping is included in the setup costs.

Find me some Kicad or Eagle files and we'll find out! I could do with another DAC after taking mine to work.

Thanks bueller, this is *very* relevant to my interests... I've been trying to get quotes for the Planck PCB assembly from a couple of manufacturers and it's tedious work. This site is incredibly well designed, and makes BOM management a breeze.... and that quantity slider to get cost breakdown... wow. All fabs should have this kind of interface.

The pricing seems reasonable and comparable with the other fabs, at least at 50pcs or more, the PCB cost is a bit higher than other fabs, though... e.g. it's double the price for a 5pcs order of the Planck PCB.

My only gripe is that there's no way to just order a small run of PCBs without assembly for testing prior to ordering a production quantity.
