KKB Miami Nights

Discord | IC Form

With the success of KKB Miami Dawn, I am pleased to announce Nights, manufactured by Keykobo.

This set will not run until production of Miami Dawn is complete and customers are satisfied with their product.

Kitting:

Most in one base kit featuring support for many layouts including varying bars.

International kit to be offered in regions that it serves.

Colours:

This time we have magenta and cyan on black. MG1, TU2, GE1 and CR. Keykobo is capable of matching GMK colours 1:1. Please refer to samples below.

Samples:
More

Top is KKB, bottom is GMK. Colours are matched 1:1 and have been observed under multiple temperature lights to confirm.

Vendors:

OCE: Daily Clack
USA: Mekibo
CA: Apex Keyboards
EU: Keygem
UK: proto[Typist]
SEA: Hex Keyboards
MENA: Sandkeys
CN: ZFrontier

Pricing:

Base - $94.99 US pricing, other regions will price based off this. MOQ 200
International - ~€30 - Pricing will be at roughly cost. MOQ 50

Dates:

6 October 2023 - 6 November 2023

Collabs:

Maison of the West
Sinpra Caps

Board Renders:

Poisson by elvenmonster

Type-B by bababaul

Renders are made to be close to reality, please keep in mind that differences in displays as well as the way colour is perceived based on surroundings and lighting of a space may result in slightly different results.
All colours are matched 1:1 with GMK stock colours and as such the best way to get a feel for the set is to check a GMK colour ring.

To do:

- Deskmat maybe? Nah
- Confirm kitting based on IC feedback (Icon vs icon + text is in IC pls fill out)
- - Consider front print
- Determine vendors
- Set pricing
- Organise GB dates

Thanks to:

- all supporters of my past and future projects
- onecreativemind for the awesome palm tree
- bababaul for graciously providing board files for renders
- elvenmonster for doing the same
- keykobo for providing samples so early in advance

Definitely in. Everyone please fill in the IC so we get a "proper" Miami Nights with Icon mods instead of Icon+Text.

Realistically I'll probably remove the accent 40s enter as the point of 3 key is minimum support, yeah

It would have been nice to see the same iso-uk kitting as Miami Dawn but I get that removing it will help to keep costs down.

While vendors are still up in the air I'd propose Prototypist for the UK.

+1 to icon mods.

As another reply has said already I'd like to see this include ISO-UK, or a Nordeuk kit be added, but if that represents a significant cost change then I understand that. I realise Dusk kinda floundered for a while.

So good, would be even better with icon mods.
Didn't notice the changelog my bad.

Also "sysrq" and "break" front prints would be nice.

+1. Maybe even adding both would be an option if this doesn't increase pricing noticeably.

Are there any examples of KKB icon mods in the wild? If not, would it be possible to get icon mod samples from KKB prior to the GB?

The down arrow makes sense from a historical perspective.  It was one of the common caps lock legends on mechanical typewriters, because that switch physically locked the shift in the depressed position.  Once locked, pushing down on the locked shift key provided enough clearance to release the lock.  It was also common for both shift and caps lock to be blank.

I don't believe any sets have run with them yet, I'll speak to KKB about getting photos or samples of their icon mods if possible

An international kit has been added to offer support for varying ISO layouts, the MOQ for this kit is being set at 50 hence the slightly higher than standard pricing. We are going to be offering it essentially at cost + expenses, I'll be taking no cut.

Pricing for the base kit has been determined too :thumb:

At this stage we're almost ready. Will be waiting until Dawn finishes production before starting the GB.

Thank you for adding an international kit. It might need slight revision, however: in both GMK CYL, MTNU, and PBTfans's international kits they have a split pipe on the key with the backtick (`) and not a full pipe - the first key in that kit. I'm not personally sure what the difference is but KKB's intl kit would be the outlier here so they should fix that!

There's no difference, it's just a font choice.

As the previous commenter mentioned, they're both a font choice and interchangeable. That said, I'll be checking with KKB to confirm which mould they have before GB.

Thanks, and I don't mean to tell you what to do! I just thought that since all of the other manufacturer's international kitting features a split pipe this probably should too - for consistency, if nothing else.

i second this - why force people to not use it, its just one key

definitely intrested in this set but i'd like to test KKB somewhere before i buy it tho

Love miami nights love to see it rerun, nostyle you are doing really cool things.

Also what are estimates for this project, I know that keykobo is similar in quality to gmk and lower wait times but I'm not sure how long. Just want to know because I have been burnt from buying keycap sets ever since I bought a KAT set that still hasn't shipped.

IC kinda over now so GLWGB

3 months manufacturing turnaround was quoted and met for Miami Dawn, this is the same quote for Miami Nights. Should be Q1 next year that caps end up in people's hands assuming everything goes smoothly. At the very worst it'd be Q2.

Quality in my opinion is on par with GMK, also texture is much nicer than recent GMK.
