[IC] Aluminum Spacebars 6.25U/7U - Vote for your color!

Hello everyone!

This is an interest check for our CNC milled aluminum spacebar keycaps. I made this particular one to test our HB60 hhkb tops.
We would really like to start with cherry 7U and 6.25U.(we have decided to wait on 6U for now but don't lose hope!)

Everything will be designed and manufactured here in Richmond,BC by myself and shop owner.

Keys will be anodized to prevent scratches and dings.
Natural Shiny aluminum and Brass will be available too!

Price should be around $30-$40 USD per space bar. depending on the type of finish.

Do let us know what we can improve on and what you'd like to see from us!

If there is enough interest we'd also love to machine SA profile and Topre keycaps.

10/3/2019 Update

Sorry for the late reply guys, We have decided we are going ahead with this project and you should expect to see a group buy from us within a few weeks.
By popular demand we will be starting with 6.25u and 7u Cherry profile spacebars. This also goes for brass spacebars.

In the future we would like to machine many different sizes in aluminum and brass.. and different profiles too!

Now, I'll try to figure out how to make a poll for colors...

Shiny Natural Aluminum will always be available - we would just have to figure out what to coat it with.

I mostly split space, then 6.25u, then 7, but I'd buy a 7.

This might be heresy, but I bet a lotta people here would rather pay 40$ than 30, and get it made / made faster / made better.

How do these build up patina? Or does the anodization reduce wear to fingerprint magnetism?

This is definitely some interesting stuff.

$30 is an incredible price point. I think, personally, I would not mind going even up to $50 if it meant better finish (gentler feed rate, better ano, cleaner beadblast, etc), and very careful tolerance on the crosspoint mount. 6u is an interesting size option; I think you'd get the most mileage out of 6.25 and 7 unit bars, though. Let us know what colors you plan to offer--that is, if you're even intending to anodize it. Nothing wrong with polished or PVD aluminum, of course.

If we could know more about the specs--weight, material, etc, that'd be real nice. Consider me intrigued.

LOL, those things are beasts! I got in my head that I wanted to try them awhile back so I swapped them into some Gat clears & swapped them into a Pok3r I had sitting. Used it a couple times & realized there is such a thing as a "meme switch"!

Thanks for your input! we will take this into consideration. Specs is definitely on the priority list right now.

I'd suggest doing a cherry profile (in whatever size you end up going with) over OEM profile. I dont' see very many (outside tai hao) use OEM.
