[HELP] fake pok3r or paranoid?
« on: Sun, 13 December 2015, 03:31:53 »
So basically I've just received my pok3r which I bought from corus-kb.com european warehouse.
I know that corus-kb should be selling real pok3rs but after sering one topic about fake pok3r(someone from taobao sold that guy the fake one)
Keycaps are thick, they have orange stabilizers.
I submitted a post on reddit about the new pok3r. Here's the details on imgur anf reddit comments.

I doubt Corus is selling fake stuff. They're a pretty reputable company.

Why not get a replacement unit while you're at it? That nasty paint at the back kinda looks like it's covering a huge scratch or something.
Please feed my addiction.

Yeah that's what I think too but I cannot get it out of my mind :/.
So now i removed all keycaps and found few switches that has thicker logo but rest of them has that thin one.
Also noticrd that only one switchs' stem has a weird light hue.
Stabilizers has a little brown hue. They dont look bright orange

Those logos do look a bit odd. Also that stab color is funky, not sure where that could have come from.

I have a 100% real pok3r that I got from massdrop a few months ago. My pok3r also has orange stabs. And mine came with the exact same cable. You're fine.

The only difference is that mine isn't iso, and it doesn't seem to have what looks like a massive smudge in your pictures.

Oh well then I wouldn't worry about that. Guess I just never heard of them doing a different color on these

So the paint job is obviously not up to par. Are you going to return it?  I'm not sure I believe it's a fake, I would just want to have one with better paint.

The thing in your album about the cable not fitting well though...doesn't seem like something KBC would do
I'm back.

The cable is useable but it doesn't sit in perfectly imo
[EDIT] Not sure if I should return it and I don't know if they would even accept that reason as a return. Also who knows if this is real and they would sent me back almost identical except it doesn't have that paint on back of the case

Good thing about getting a fake poker is that its more then likely going to be better built then anything Vortex put out. LOL here's the brand new pok3r I got from them.

The second one I got looked fine but had a tiny bubble of paint which once scrapped revealed rust on the plate. Seems the plate are covered in rust and they just spray them and hope for the best. Utter junk.

Pretty sure its not fake. Also color of stabs likely has to do with variation with the pigments when they're new/old.

The logos probably just mean they came from two different molds. I guarantee Cherry has bunches of molds for the casings.

Well, atleast you guys are making me feel a bit relieved. I don't really care if the switches are fake because I'm going to mod the kb and change switches. My only concern is that if the switches are fake, other parts might be fake aswell.

Ok nice, so I'm not only one. But still kinda weird that there aren't many picture of cherry switches with this logo. And btw backplate doesn't affect swtiches' wobbling?

What exactly do you mean by this? Obviously having vs not having a plate will affect how much the switches wobble, as will (sometimes) differences in the plate itsself.

Honestly, I would probably return the board, just due to the paint, since that definitely qualifies as a manufacturers defect.

Okay, I'll try to ask corus-kb if they would allowed it to be returned, and hope the return shipping will be free. If they will accept it I hope that I won't receive another board that's like this one and gonna hope the keycaps won't have McRip effect. This pok3r's keycaps has a few McRip effect but it isn't that noticeable.

Pretty sure the whole "fake pok3r" rumor got started as a result of someone getting one with blue switches from one of Cherry's bad batches and all of the Cherry fanbois being unwilling to believe that they were real. It's not based on reality.

That wobling is just a feature Cherry switch. It can be fixed with switch stickers but I tried it for fun and it's not THAT big deal for switch's operation. So don't worry, it's normal.
