Hey!
After putting this design on hold for a while I finally present you EPBT Extended 2048!
Heavily inspired by the AEKII, the main idea was to create an icon based keyset with a neo-retro look, inspired by old Apple keyboards. I wanted to have something with a minimalistic but intuitive look, which explains the icons mods!
I took time to re-think the kits, get rid of the useless stuff and basically made it simpler.

Basically this is the PBT version of cherry profile, and epbt is arguably the best in PBT cherry profile quality.

While I think the epbt9009 was not the best, I think the quality has been improving. The heavy industry was quite impressive.

Pardon me for my ignorance, but is there any perks to doing a set with ePBT rather than GMK? I am wondering because lately I have bought a full set of topre 9009 from ePBT, and even tho they looked amazing and were thick, the plastic mixture used for the caps produced a really high pitch sound and felt cheap compared to the sound of standard Topre caps, Leopold Caps or OG cherrys, GMK, etc..
I was let down and I'm surprised to see many people doing runs for high end caps through them. Does that mean that only this topre 9009 was a bit of a let down and their GB productions are great?

I think the upsides are that:
1. its cheaper than GMK
2. some prefer PBT
3. custom fonts
I have a few epbt cap sets myself. And I have the same feeling as you do, but I hope epbt will increase quality without increase pricing.

Sad that the idea for a more exotic profile (mt3, KAT) is out, but happy that this is not a uniform profile or GMK($$$$, and i'm broke) glad you went epbt.
I just wish the "neo retro" color was a bit more neo than retro :)
I get the aesthetic and the theme, but I think a cooler tone (like the royal navy cream - very light cream) would yield to much better board compatibility and mix-n-match potential.

- add R3 1.25 Enter -> Nomad kit
- add R4 1u Enter -> Nomad kit
- make a spacebars kit, for people who don't need all the modifiers but just a split spacebar.
- work on an Ergo kit if there is enough interest. If I do so, I want it to have icons mods tho.
Also, I'm not sure I want to add accents since I think it works kinda well as a monochromatic set.
I got rid of the Rainbow novelty since IMO it's too 'expected' and not that original.
Some of the symbols are a little weird in my eyes.
• Backspace (Backward "delete") has the Back-Tab symbol.
• Shift has a Cursor-Up symbol in my opinion.

- I won't change the backspace; for me, it looks intuitive like that.
- Since the arrows (from arrows cluster) are way different, I don't see any issues here:

- The ⌘ is in the Icono kit because it's very Maccish I didn't know if people might like that, so I put it there. But since it's kinda assumed, I might replace the circle by that in the base kit?!

- Command Icon (⌘) is now the default Super legend. It replaces the circle icon in the base kit.
- R3 1.25u and R4 1u Enter keys added into the Nomad kit
- Icono kit slightly reworked and coffee mug icon added (suggestion from a nice guy)
- I decided to keep the spacebars in the Nomad kit for now. We will see how the pricing is and maybe change stuff at that time.

Yeah I will definitively consider it!
But yeah, for me the prompt command was intuitive for the Fn key since it can kinda acts how you want. I mean, Fn is not only for layers.
The squares one is just another icon inspired by the first Mac icons (1984), but indeed works well for a layers key.
Now I'm wondering if I should replace the >_ with the squares in the base kit since the icon looks way better 🤔

Indeed. Many consider PBT material higher quality than ABS (what GMK and JTK use), because it is harder, more explicit texture for the finger tips, takes much much longer for the caps to become shiny and losing the texture, and doesn't yellow over [let's say twenty years].. BUT: sound is indeed sub par or higher pitched or just sounds cheap!!! My opinion, but I am considering to move mostly back to ABS.. (typing on Heavy Industry at the moment which I don't know if it his from ePBT but is PBT material and is super beautiful [the white alphas look perfect to me {together with GMK WS1 my favorite whites}] and good feel but not so great sound - I am waiting for their GMK run now:)..
So I don't think your intuition failed you.. unfortunately.

We believe the white color has to be decided on, EPBT said mid-April would be great and after GB closure there is a 45 day lead time. The issue is that kuro-shiro is on very soon, so it would make sense for it to be after :)

Hey!
After putting this design on hold for a while I finally present you EPBT Extended 2048!
Heavily inspired by the AEKII, the main idea was to create an icon based keyset with a neo-retro look, inspired by old Apple keyboards. I wanted to have something with a minimalistic but intuitive look, which explains the icons mods!
I took time to re-think the kits, get rid of the useless stuff and basically made it simpler.
This looks really good for a professional looking keyboard. I love the macro keys.

I'd make the '/" 1.5u key horizontal (R3) rather than vertical. Also the ergodox thumb cluster would need eight 1u keys total. R3 home/end & pgup/pgdn seem like fairly universal choices for 1u thumb cluster keys.

Personally, I need the tertiary legend in symbol only keys like <>| and +?\ While I touch type letters and numbers I still need some hint for less frequent symbols that take AltGr. Fortunately most Norde kits come with them. I hope this also comes with them. I will keep an eye on this and decide if it works for me in its final form.

ePBT larger keys are almost always very banana shaped/ warped, yes. I have 2 MT3 sets as well and no warping at all. It has to do with thickness of caps, design of supports inside the cap, manufacturing technique (proper cooling technique), and QC weeding out ones that are bad.

Agreed. The last 3 sets of enjoyPBT sets I've purchased all have warped spacebars. Not unusable, but not ideal. KBD fans posted something on their website about possibly working on a new mold to fix the issue. Look on the bottom of the page here in red:

Is it not the exact same 3#-button in both the base and the international kit? Personally I think adding the £-legend makes more sense than including what is essentially a duplicate key.
Or am I missing something?
As for the <> 'duplicates', the Norwegian layout only has <> bound to that key, and either way I don't care too much.

I understand that, yes. Maybe I worded that poorly, I’m talking about having an option for only scoops and only bars like the conventional GMK set options. Right now EPBT normally does the combination barred and scooped keys, but you said that they can do barred without scoops. I’m wondering if they can also do just scoops with no bars, and if so can that be added to the base kit?

It's in homage to the AEK JP boards out there which use Katakana legends - they're super popular and a lot more expensive ($150+ for alphas) than regular AEKs for people who wanna harvest them for their custom alps builds. Considering it's an alternate kit and not imposed on the base or anything, I don't think it really is that big of a deal that goes against the ethos of the set. I can't specifically speak for Biip but I'd say it's also not a byproduct of weeb/cadet/etc legends being popular, it's just a homage to the Japanese AEK.

I have an Alps build with AEK keycaps. They are grey white at the very least. The XDA Oblique guys used Pantone Cool Grey 2 U to match the original set more closely. Surely you guys can learn something from them?

I don't know about that. The whole point of an interest check is to collect feedback. It's not thread crapping for different people to voice the same concerns - how else could you tell whether any point is more than a single dissenting opnion?
For the record, I do think it would be a missed opportunity to make this another beige cherry profile keyset instead of trying to match Apple's platinum grey more closely, and the difference is enough to personally put me off the set. I can still respect that biip has a different idea of how'd they want this to turn out and is free to make decisions as they see fit.

The comment nailed the key points nicely. The concept of "Neo-Retro" summarizes it all. I see this set to be very close to an end-game for my needs. Being a PBT dye sub it should easily outlast me.
PD: If it fits your design concept, please consider to include a simple VIM kit, nothing fancy, just arrow sub-legends in the same colors. Thank you very much.

There are 2u keys in the base, the calc and the nomad kit, one each; only the last one is blank. There are no 1.5u keys for all the rows. It is hard to give you some advice without a picture.

I'm starting to feel the pain of non-standard layout people. I'm not a big fan of DSA or XDA and trying to find a set that supports the oddball modifiers of the M0110. It also uses a 1U pipe key.
Was also trying to kit a 40% but looks like the R3 1.25 is missing.

The keys 4, 7 and 0 on the numerical row cannot be matched with this keyset to macOS FI/SWE layout. For my purposes I won't be needing function keys or the numpad area so I'm ignoring those entirely (but they seem OK).
In this layout the shift+4 should produce a € - symbol, while option+4 produces $. Therefore for FI/SWE layout the keyset should have a "4" - key with € - symbol at the top. The closest option for this key is the one from INTL kit with dollar symbol at the top and euro symbol at the lower right corner (so the currency symbols are in a reversed order for this layout). A preferred alternative would be a "4" - key with Euro symbol at the top. Apple themselves omit the Dollar alternate symbol.
The second issue concerns the curly brackets and the keys "7" and "0". On a FI/SWE layout three types of brackets ("()", "[]", "{}") are produced using the keys "8" and "9" on the numerical row. Combined with shift these keys produce the round brackets, combined with the option key they produce the square brackets and together with both shift and the option key they produce the curly brackets. Therefore the keycaps for "8" and "9" in the INTL kit are OK, but the keyset does not have options for keys "7" and "0" which would omit the additional curly bracket legends (the ones in BASE kit have incorrect alternative symbols for FI/SWE layout).
And for the sake of completeness, on a FI/SWE layout shift+7 produces "/", option+7 produces "|", shift+option+7 produces "\". Shift+0 produces "=", option+0 produces "≈", shift+option+0 produces "≠".
I'm new to this so cannot say if this in general is a known issue and just a consequence of the difficulty of matching all possible layouts. Seems to me that one additional key (a "4" with Euro on top, perhaps omitting the secondary alternate character, but if one was included it could be the Dollar symbol) and a change to two keys (omit the curly bracket legends from "7" and "0" in the INTL kit) would have made this set compatible with FI/SWE macOS layout. Or alternatively if the legends from "7" and "0" could not be removed, perhaps two additional keycaps would have been needed in the INTL kit to cover those as well.
I don't think these are dealbreakers for me and I can live with the inaccurate legends on the three keys, especially since I'm sure my locale is in a minority here. It was so close though...

Apple's keyboards go further back in history than the relevant ISO and ANSI standards so that characterisation isn't entirely fair (meaning: in order to deviate from a standard the standard has to exist first). I admit, though, that I don't know when the first specifically SWE/FI keyboard was made by them and what layout it might have followed. Or their first ISO keyboards in general.
When it comes to this keyset it seems fairly obvious to me that it would mainly be of interest to macOS users. The icons used in the keyset wouldn't match the UI in Linux or Windows systems and on macOS I'd expect many users would like to retain the integration between the keyboard symbols and the system UI (which this keyset allows). For reference, here's an example from their developer documentation of the icons used in system menus (https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/macos/menus/menu-bar-menus/ (https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/macos/menus/menu-bar-menus/)):

In this light it would make sense in this case to follow Apple's keyboard layouts in situations where there's a conflict (the quoted comment from biip is relevant here).
Hey, I was not aware that there was a specific Mac layout for Finnish/Swedish languages. And unfortunately it’s now too late to make changes. I hope it’s not a deal breaker.
No worries! Already went with the BASE, INTL and ICONO kits because the set looks so nice. But maybe this is useful information in general regarding international kits? As far as I can see the three keys (4, 7 and 0) were the only problematic ones for FI/SWE on macOS, but there could of course be more regional differences in other macOS locales.

Double shot ABS are totally different to PBT dysubs. There is no point in comparing them.

I’m curious, what did you think was not up to par with GMK?Also wonder. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality, the legends are beautiful and sharp - better than GMK. I also very much enjoy the silky smooth texture.
I heard there's some warping, but I wouldn't know as my largest cap is a 2u spacebar ;)

My set does not have any flaw. It is just beautiful. I think, some people repeat the mantra that GMK is better than anything else. I really like my OG Cherry sets and the few GMKs that I have are not bad either. While I love the shiny textures of my old and used OG Cherry, the texture on ePBT feels just very nice to not like it.
