Why are the dell clickys so good btw? as im still new to ancient keyboard technology, that makes me feel like stargate series where lost technology is always more interesting and mature than modern cheap variants?
Computers used to cost thousands of dollars. With the high-dollar value came high-quality keyboards. However, these days computers are cheap. Computer makers bundle these computers with cheap keyboards (to maximize profits). In an effort to maximize profits, they probably spend less than $5 to manufacturer these included keyboards.
Additionally, with the consumer computing experience being focused more and more on the use of the mouse, the value of the keyboard has been diminished.
Good, new keyboards exist...but a lot of them are simply improvements on tried and true keyboard architectures. (like adding USB to Model M's, for example)
