So many people asked for it, so here it is.
Atom47 round 2 (rev4)

Introduction
For those who are new to this PCB, it's essentially a modern replacement PCB for the Vortex Core.
The PCB uses QMK (and VIA) so you can change every key (on the fly). It's exactly what every 40% needs.
Some of you may know me from the very first round back in 2018, since which I have learned a lot.
The new design is much more pleasing to the eyes and also features ESD protection along with a fuse.

Features
- QMK Firmware
- The PROPER switch orientation
- Supports minitomic layout
- Multiple layouts (even the minitomic layout)
- ESD protection and fuse
- Optional caps lock indicator (0805 size led)
- Rotary encoder support
Layouts
Note: every layout requires a custom plate. Plate files will be made available for the Vortex Core!

Price TBD
Vendors TBD

Love the layout options. I assume there are still no plans to support the same 4-color LED as the stock PCB?

No

Any possibility of including a plate, universal or “base” layout?

Any possibility of including a plate, universal or “base” layout?
Yes, it will probably be the stock layout with possibility to swap fn and shift.
-
Looking forward to this. I really like the look of that 7u bottom row, however impractical it may be. Great work as always.
-
This is very nice. Any consideration for custom cases?
-
i think i would actualy give using my core another go if i could have a layout like the ones listed :)

Like a pcb sandwich kit or more of a milled custom case?
-
Interested in pcb+plate. What kind of plate material will you offer?
-
I am definitely interested in this!

Prototype is in.
-
Built the prototype with the Minitomic layout, which is supported. Also using a custom plate.

I have also designed a 3d printable case for it, which will be on thingiverse once I have tested the design. It fits with the original plate as well.
-
please make this happen. I'm already prepping a vortex core just for this!
-
VIA on a 40% really makes it worth picking up again.
Thank you for this!

This is the 3d printed case :D
I'm going to take a small bit of room out of the edges and I will then upload the stl files along with step and fusion 360 files to thingiverse and github.
Note: this case will not be offered with the group buy because to me, 3d printing is not a great way to produce cases.
It's completely compatible with the stock PCB and stock plate!

More pics here (https://imgur.com/a/qM78wvE) with the Devil Design purple glitter PLA filament
Looks good to me, so I'm uploading it!

I would love this. Plus it would give me the opportunity to replace the switches in my Core.
-
usb-c please :D

usb-c please :D
It wouldn't fit in the vortex core!

Just curious, is this still going on?
I don't mean to be rude or rush you or anything, but I just feel like I've come in a bit late to this thread (and the 40% scene in general) and just wanted to make sure that I'm not too late.
Thanks

Yes, I still plan to run it this year. Other things are taking my time as well.

Very happy to hear this! Would love to grab this PCB to fix up my Vortex Core (this reply was typed with a Vortex Core, my first time typing on it in quite some time :) )
-
Excited about this project, I just got into using 40% boards and have been mulling options for modifying my core. This project was exactly what was looking for. Looking forward to any updates in the future :)
Also, any chance we can get plate files for the Stock vortex core? If you would sell the file, I am open to that as well :)
-
I would love one of these! My Core is not getting any use due to being just too niggly in default.
-
Glad to see this is still in the pipeline!
Thank you :thumb:

Is this still available for interest?
-
Would anyone be interested in another attempt this year? Perhaps revision 5?

I like this layout
