Proof?  As in RipOMeter test.  And what keyboard is it?  You could certainly be lying...  I might as well say, "I have a keyboard which requires 500cN of force to actuate...

Likely many ATM tamper-proof keyboards.

Hahah.

I read too fast from the phone.

I interpreted it as centi-new-tons. (so i thought to some obscure imperial unit).

I hope next time gravity will be discovered by John Smith:happy:

I still wait for the OP to disclose his keyboard model.

The stiffer I tried (other than the tamper proof ones) is the BL82 with the silicon membrane installed I haven't measured it but should be more than 100g, i tested the switches w/o the coiled spring and the keyboard was still usable.

Yes, at least in Italy we call them Bancomat (just noticed I managed to use the same acronym with two different meaning in the same thread :)  )

Intended as a pressure unit, 1 atmosphere=1.01325 bar, or as you said 101,325 Pascal
or

1 bar = 100 Pascal = 0.98692 atm

Just an American unit for atmospheric pressure

1ATM=760mmHG=760torr

I've typed on vintage terminal keyboards where the set-up buttons used a stiffer switch than the normal keys to prevent accidental presses. Probably in the 100g+ region.

1 atm = average atmospheric pressure at average sea level = 101,325 Pa = 1.01325 bar = 760 mm Hg = 760mm Torr = 14.696 pounds per square inch
STP = 1 atm at 273 K

Torr a unit is dedicated to Evangelista Torricelli the Italian who invented the mercury barometer.

Is still widely used as unit of the human blood pressure although not part of SI

1 Torr = 1mm of mercury (at sea  level) on the one meter long Torricelli's tube, as you may remember from the school time the normal pressure is worth about 76cm of mercury on such tube.

So 760 Torr

I put a spring from a ball point pen in my Caps Lock once. (Using Cherry MX Browns) I didn't measure how much force it took to press it down, but I would think it was well over a kilogram.

First time I pressed it I thought it wasn't going to budge, but sure enough I just really needed to lean on it. It did the job of preventing any accidental presses, but I thought maybe it did too good of a job.

I ended up using an MX Gray in my Caps Lock and an MX Clear on my space bar. I don't like the Gray switch in my space bar. It should be much lighter than that, IMO.

What is the point of a button that you actually have to attack to actuate it?  I mean... there's vandal-proof and then there's daring the vandal to blow **** up.
