The bokeh on that first shot of the zinc is bugging me out. I know it's because the threads of the cloth but I'm still nervous looking at it.

That cap from ivan is awesome. For real

The swirly effect is why I liked it :)  I like weird bokeh usually (though of course nice and smooth variety can be great as well).

What did  you do to get that? Was it shot wide open? Your last photo doesn't have that characteristic.

I've been Thinking about picking up canon's macro L lens. The 100mm focal length has been my favorite so far for people shots. Having macro would fit in line with the tabletopography we love so much.

Yeah, it's wide open there.  Aperture not large enough to blur the background more at that distance, so you get the slight blurring of the pattern, which ends up looking like that swirl.  This is my beloved Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 with one 10mm extension tube.  That lens is phenomenal in resolution and already has pretty good maximum magnification before the tube even.  The other photos are at f/11.

You're using the zuiko?

I tried fuji for a little bit but that was before i felt the economics of panasonic and Olympus offerings. If I had a choice on a mirrorless camera it would undoubtedly be from one of those two companies.

Heh, incidentally I use both Fuji and micro four thirds.  Photography is my most serious hobby.  I've tried a few different directions before settling on these.  Olympus is my super detailed tool with amazing image stabilization, and Fuji is the more impressionistic one (depending on lens, of course, but on average).  This one's with a Fuji 35mm f/1.4.  If you like creamy bokeh, Fuji does it really well for most of their lenses, even zooms.  But it's a more clunky system in terms of speed of operation, auto-focus speed, and a bunch of other things.  m43 is like a modern 4k monitor compared to Fuji's CRT for the bodies.  That's my view of it anyway.

I've been on an ongoing 6 month journey in to photography as of late. Before I'd dabble in it with the family dslr and a nifty fifty but didn't bother to learn.

I've got two months with  the fujinon 35 and loved that piece of glass.

Dammit G.A.S is kicking in.

I have a 35mm f/1.4, 56mm f/1.2, and 55-200mm.  All great.  I'd love some others (like 16mm f/1.4 and 90mm f/2), but they are far too expensive.  Had an X100s at one point a while ago. A few lenses for m43 as well.  All different effective focal lengths--I try to not keep doubles of anything.  Photography can be almost as bad of a money drain as keyboards...  More really, unless one's buying custom keyboards and artisan keycaps left and right.  I have a serious love/hate relationship with Fuji.  It's the first polarizing experience of this kind I've had with any photo equipment.  Everything else has been either "Meh" or "this is quite good, I'll keep it in the long term."  m43 is my long-term affair.

Right now I'm using the 6D. It was simply am easier transition for me from casual camera phone to really thinking about composition when family and friends use like systems. My last shot with the tgr was with canon's 24-105 and used to go find my favorite focal length for the last month. Vast majority of my shots were above 50mm and 60% of those were above 80mm.  Now that it served it's purpose it's time for it to go back to its rightful owner.  :thumb:

realized how much time i was wasting taking a bunch of pictures from the same angle just so i could sort through them all to find the "least blurry" picture (shaky hands) and decided to buy a tripod for my camera... which led me to buying a cheapie lightbox setup.

now begins the process of learning how to properly use my phone camera, lighting, color correction, and all the other **** that goes into taking pictures :P

i will say the tripod alone was worth the cost of everything- the satisfaction from taking the first picture knowing the shot was much more stable.... so. damn. good.

Looks like just a mousepad since you can sorta see the foam on the sides. Seems like it would be a pretty small pad though.

How difficult is it to tell the difference between the blacks and the hirose switches?

Not that much difference tbh. Oranges are a bit softer, but the spring weight and everything else is pretty much the same

Just the Death Star part is a pad. Don't need a large pad for the trackball.
