Bought a Seiko SARB033 off massdrop, it'll be my first automatic/ decent quality watch. Probably means I'll sell my MVMTs though.

SARB series is pretty decent. 6R15 workhorse movement. Finer than the 7S and 4R. Milled extensions in the clasp instead of the usual stamped pieces. Enjoy it.

Finally managed to get my pictures of my Skagen uploaded to Imgur.

I'm a HUGE fan of the blue face.

I wasn't keen on these type of tight straps before, but I really like it.

And it's so skinny

And i'm not sure how you guys feel about fakes, but my brother bought me a pretty good replica of a Milgauss

Yeah, it's got a black face, but it's got a smooth movement, and I really like it as a stopgap until I get a real one ;)

Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

It's been a while, so I hope the double post doesn't offend anyone. I picked up one of my grail watches last week and it arrived two days ago. Naturally, I've had it on my wrist ever since, outside of showering, sleeping, and running.

Also, here's an album of pictures of it :)

Hamilton Jazzmaster Open Heart and Seiko SARB033 are both on their way.

So stoked about my first automatic watches.

Now I just need to figure out what to do with my old quartz watches.  :))

The issue is I don't think I'll be using them, they're both 45mm MVMTs. I should be wearing 38-40mm so the 45mm looks HUGE on my wrist.

Hmm yeah MVMT watches can be a big large depending on how big your wrist/person is. They'll also be hard to offload too but no harm in putting them up on Craigslist if you really want to try get rid of them.

39 to 42mm watches are just right for me.

I've been posting one on reddit with no luck. I'm hoping I can sell them to friends.

Not the craziest watch collection but I've been trying to start one up.

The color is off by a bit so I'll explain the bands. The left leather strap is an alligator print brown leather strap that came with my Hamilton Jassmaster Open Heart and the strap to the right of it is a very dark red leather strap from worn and wound and then the metal band that came with my Seiko SARB033. The other 4 are a purple, red and black, yellow, and fuchsia nato/braided nylon straps.

I'm not a watch enthusiast or anything, but I spotted this watch on a cruise and started looking into it when I got back. The Invicta Subaqua Noma IV. I bought it because it looked purty. It was my first big purchase after having started working part-time. It's quite heavy (weighs a pound!) and sometimes catches my arm hair in the links, but I appreciate every little detail of it since I bought it myself.

I got this watch for my birthday. I think I was in sixth grade? I only know it as the G-Shock, but I wear it every single day. It's sturdy, light, lights-up, and synchronizes itself to an atomic clock in Nevada whenever the signal is strong enough. I hope this watch lasts me forever.

Big Ferrari fan, and I just love how it looks ^^

Ah ah, offtopic but I can't resist, here's the toy I bought one year ago or so (it was basically the only "affordable" V8 two-seater Ferrari)... Since then the price skyrocketted so I'm glad I pulled the trigger and so far no issue. Handling is not that great, it's not that powerful at all (only 300 bhp), kinda heavy and it's already 25 years old.  But it's IMHO one of the most beautiful car ever created (and it doesn't look anything like these modern supercars without any soul, which basically all look the same due to aerodynamics). I also don't understand why they don't make cars with retractable headlights anymore: it just looks soooooo much better that way...

So that's what the French programmers drive? I am moving to France.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Unless you want one with no miles on it, Ferrari 348s are fairly reasonably priced.

I'm not in the income bracket for which a minimum of £40K is a reasonable price for a car.

Thanks! The Hamilton is awesome but I'm not in love with the strap it came with. It could be my tiny wrists or the fact the strap hasn't been broken in but the padding makes it stiff/ uncomfortable. Either way I still love how the skeleton portion is asymmetrical, keeps it mechanical without being in your face about it.

Yeah, the same happened with my Tissot when I got it, it does take some wearing in to get it to change shape at all. But I haven't worn it that much recently :(

And i'm not sure how you guys feel about fakes, but my brother bought me a pretty good replica of a Milgauss

Show Image

Nice fake

I bought one of these in Thailand a few years ago and got really upset when it stopped ticking the following morning

Took me a day to realise that it was actually such a good fake that it had the self winding movement and it had just run out from not being worn  :D

Nah, there are quite a few issues with accurate replication, not counting the usual hallmarks of a fauxlex.
Milgauss, Chronometer labeling, Swiss made = wrong font and wrong size. Even ROLEX is in the wrong font.
Silk screen for the second index number is not correctly indexed
All 3 hands are wrong.
End link is wrong profile

Time for another episode of "Have I ever told you I love orange?"

I bought a Z3c in orange of course. Didn't NEED another phone (S6 and Note4 as main and work phones), but want something smaller to tote around every once in awhile, also another play thing.
Ran out of room on my mousepad so that's all the orange watches you get today ;D

Massive undertaking today,
I set all my quartz watches' date and timed each one.

Being the recorder keeper that I am, some interesting stuff:
My G9000 went through the year at +6 seconds. I did not wear it a single time, and it sped up during the winter.
Precisionist that claims <10SPY. Well, almost double that. +17seconds. Again I didn't wear it much and it mostly sped up during winter as well. It was +7seconds at November.
1 of my G-Shock went ridiculously fast. Since I set it in end of Nov. +87seconds!
1 of my Solar stopped for 1 day. Oops :p I guess I didn't notice the double ticking when I picked it up 2 days ago.
My kinetic only stays at 1-3month charge in the winter ;( Hard to get it in the 4-6month range.
All but 2 of my quartz ran in the positive SPD since Nov.

Average time differential is 18seconds. ~6seconds per month.

:)

:)

Not quartz but my Hamilton is +-1/3 day and my seiko is kinda all over the place at +6/12 day.

Seikos aren't very well adjusted out of the box. ETA in the Hamilton is a better movement regarding time keeping. However, it is also a much more complicated and fragile movement. There are a few Hamilton field watches I'd love to own, but i am not sure about the movement taking on rough outdoor activities.

I haven't updated my SPD chart for my mechanical watches. It is a lot of effort, since you'd want to run a watches for a few days for the SPD to settle down after sitting for awhile. Too many watches and not enough time ;(

Edit: post look boring without a picture, so I dug up a pix of my King Diver reissue.

My Tissot was about two or three MINUTES out per day when I first got it. I had to send it back after arguing with the woman over the phone that even though it was an automatic watch, it shouldn't be minutes out.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Ya, not even my 7S movements go beyond a minute out. May be it was dropped during shipment?

Been looking around for a nice diver watch recently, Squale has caught my eye and so has Orient. I can dream for now, might have to wait a couple of years to get what I want.

steinhearth ocean one 500 might be worth giving a shot, or a glycene combat sub, if you don't like the sporty ness of the squale (or sport watches in general)

The abovementioned Steinhart (I just like this picture)

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I've been looking for a burgundy nato for my SKX175 & unable to find just the right color. Where is your purple/burgundy nato from?

All my NATO straps are from crown and buckle, they have a pretty huge selection. Deluca straps also has a bunch but their straps use thick nylon, heavier hardware, and cost way more.

Btw those straps are bright purple and fuchsia. The best burgundy strap I have is the color 8 2-piece leather strap from Worn & Wound.
