Title: Help: Explainable Cherry Stabilizer issue (with video)
Post by: f32h80fsd08h34r5 on Thu, 13 September 2018, 21:39:00
I just built this board and all the stabilizers were working fine, however my spacebar keycap was a bit loose fitting on the stab inserts (they slid right out) so I tried to do the scotch tape trick.

It didn't feel right so I pulled off the keycap and the tape, and then, my stabilizer just started acting like this:

Anybody ever had this issue before or know how to fix it?

Quite hard to understand what the issue is -- can you explain?

Have you tried to put the spacebar back on?

Sorry I should have explained better.

The issue is that, while both sides of the stabilizer rise together, they just stick up and don't fall down.

Like something is restricting it? It's kind of hard to explain. Notice in the video how I manually have to push the stabilizer back down.

That's fine. Try putting the spacebar on and see if there's an issue otherwise.

Ok so update, I think the wire is slightly bent. I think that this is the issue, and I'll try to find a way to make it straight again.

Bent wires are no good. If you can't unbend it you'll have to replace the stabilizer.

I was gonna say it looks like you might have residue from the scotch tape.  Try cleaning it with alcohol or something.

Also normally I use plumbers tape they work better to keep your inserts inside spacebar.

Try fixing the bent wire first if there's still issue with plumber's tape.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to clean it out too.
