Any gundam enthusiatist?
« on: Sun, 18 January 2015, 05:21:15 »
Nah I hope many of geekers are also into gundam like me ^^ This "useless" keycap was made from a 1/100 MG Strike Freedom Gundam :D It is just for decoration so I put it in the scroll-lock key, which I never use myself. ^^

I replace the joint with a scratch-build clear part to lead light from my BWU to the eyes and sensors on the head. I also trimmed some part inside the head to optimize the light's diffusion

Result:

Im planning to paint it with black theme, sothat it can blend in my BWU. ^^
This is my very first modification with my mechanical keyboards :D Hope you guys enjoy it too ^^

Love fundal. Pretty cool stuff there. I saw a thread on here where a guy bought a cheap model kit and used half the head and glued it to a key. Came out descent.

I must say that makes a really nice cap but it's a shame about the kit

I would love to watch the original movies for Mobile Suit Gundam, but can't find them streaming anywhere. Does anyone know how to find them?

Haha Deatchscythe was my first attempt because it fits the black theme on my BWU, but the light-leading structur inside need more works so that it was not finished. I will update more when it is complete ^^

I used to be really into gundam models too.  But lately I've been too busy to build new ones.

Good thing you had spare parts, was gonna say that's gonna be the most expensive keycap if you use MG Strike Freedom head.

Doesn't MG usually run about $100-150 or so?

:P

Looks really good otherwise, lol should do some marker line.

I order my kits directly from Japan per HLJ or 1999, the price is very acceptable if you choose slow shipping :D and you can also find used kits on forums or eBay. An old decent MG kit is about 20~30USD :D And while I use the body parts for modification, this could make use of spare heads laying around. For keycaps I think MG is best size for full-head like this one, but cheaper 1/144 HG can also be good for half-head keycaps ^^
