Met the female nymphomaniac friend and wannabe girlfriend. Yes, I friendzoned her. No, we didn't have sex. We went to the Pushkin museum to look at the splendid paintings by Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh and numerous others. Then we had a tasty dinner in a Turkish cafe.

Rookie... ;) Just kidding.

I don't know what baller means. Strangely, Pushkin museum has nothing to do with Pushkin himself, it is just two buildings holding a lot of art.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Headed to Seattle tomorrow. I've never been so it should be fun  :)

If you like beer, check out The Pine Box, Stumbling Monk, Hopvine, and Brouwer's Cafe.  And if you see a bottle of Iron Horse Brewing Quilter's Irish Death, don't even think twice, just buy it.

I would if I was of age--not quite there yet  :))

Whoa.  Would not have guessed this.   :))   I've always imagined you as a 30 year old, gun-totin' Montanan.  So I guess the 30 year old part is the only part I got wrong.

Sorry about the cell phone quality and the tardiness (I was sick most the week), but, as promised, pic of the new car:

Awesome!  Congrats again man!  That's a sweet lookin car.  Looks like they made the newer models a bit shorter though, which is a pretty big bummer for the tall dudes like myself.  :(  Need dat headroom...

What did I do today?  Drove back home today after a weekend in the woods, and now I catch up on all the GH that I missed last week.  What a daunting task.

Figured out the three brand new bearings that my partner and I screwed up at work ($2500+ each) is probably the cheaper of the two major fixes.  Turns out both ends of all four shafts have to be remachined.

Today I came to the conclusion that my F122 is too wide to use at job since I use the mouse too much and it starts to put too much stress on my back because I am not in a good position. So I decided to take the time to put a Soarer in one of my XT. And for this one I wanted to do it all internal. So I loaded the Soarer on my promicro, cut some female-female DuPont cable so that I could solder 1 end directly on my promicro. Soldered it, put it in the XT, tested it, all was working and I was super happy. So then I put some hot glue to fix it, closed it and tested it and BANG it was not working. So I open it up again and see that one cable has broken where it had been stripped and soldered.

So I came to the conclusion that I should not have done it this way ... sniff

Lesson learned. I ordered some female-male DuPont cable. Now time to wait ... grrrrr!

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I don't know, get it later when they are not busy? I can't really think of any stores that don't let you do that. Even the thrift stores here allow you to pay and pick up later within a reasonable time frame.

I don't know, get it later when they are not busy? I can't really think of any stores that don't let you do that. Even the thrift stores here allow you to pay and pick up later within a reasonable time frame.

I'm mostly just toying with you.  :P  I understand that you can make it work to not have a car.  I'm just so used to having one I'm not ready to give it up.  I do too much camping and other road trip type things that it's hard for me to imagine being confined to a city.   :p

I used to do so much driving when I was a field photographer. I think that really burned me out on roadtrips. They were always doing things like having me drive from like Chicago to Topeka (or equivalent distance from random small town to random small town) overnight and crap for back to back assignments. Mostly I wish US had a good rail system. I actually like trains and generally enjoy traveling that way in Europe. If it weren't for some of the people even bus is preferable to driving myself since I can just zone out and not have to worry about anything really.
Otherwise, I don't really dig being in the country much or doing naturey things.

TIL that Des Moines is the wealthiest city in America. Sauce: http://m.today.com/money/des-moines-where-regular-folks-can-live-rich-life-2D11965288. Backed by exactly zero facts, but who cares?
