Swapped out some of the switches in one of my alps boards in an attempt to teach myself to solder better. My solder joints look a little ugly and not all of the keys work but it was a success overall. Might change my Alpsulator to salmon alps as my next project  :)

I typed on my keyboard and drove my car today.

I re-partitioned my harddrive into numerous 2GB FAT16 partitions, because inspired by Microsoft Windows :D

Aww they even included one of those little plastic tables in the middle for the mice to eat at :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Typed on a MS suface pro 3 keyboard. IT IS NOT HORRIBLE. Very small travel distance of the scissors, smaller (travel) than normal laptop scissors.

Not the best typing experience but this keyboard should have shipped with all of the surface versions. The cardboard attached keyboard is terrible

Achievement unlocked :cleaning tonsils myself.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

It's a 3x 4TB with seagate st4000dm drives using storagespaces. Evidently storagespaces parity is dead slow without journaling ssd. Sadly I don't have any more sata ports to add them right now.

I've never had the pleasure of using storagespaces. Is that just JBOD with windows managing the parity?

It's more like raid with 2 data disk and 1 parity disk, or a 3+2 if you would rather... and there is the option to add a journaling ssd and/or ssd writeback cache. You also can set it up in mirror or with no resiliency like jbod. It's also the only official supported way to use refs on Windows 8.x. When it works right it's not too bad. My problem stems from having to reinstall my OS after the ssd failed and the new install absolutely refusing to import the existing storage space. Which is pretty annoying since one of the benefits it's supposed to have is easy to move disks from instal to instal or even to different hardware entirely which can be problematic with hardware raid.
