"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Had to say goodbye to my friend this morning, worst day in a pet owners life.  As much as I prepared myself for this, it still really takes a toll on you.

Today created my first (non-evasive) Kinesis Advantage "Mod". Using the dashboard rubber gel and stuck my Trackpad in the middle of the Kinesis. Not sure how this gel exactly works, but the stuff is sticky as hell, but no glue or glue residue is involved.

Weekends don't exist for sysadmins lol. Have to do it outside of trading hours for some clients so some maintenance windows are all over the place.

I get paid overtime for it and do it all from home so it's not so bad.

It's called a sno-cone, and it seems to be similar to a Granita.  It's basically just crushed ice with a flavoured sugar sauce poured on top.  :)  A kids dream!  :))

Saw The Book of Morman, the comedy musical by the South Park creators here in Richmond Virginia

Was great.

the dialogue is hilarious and some people left during the intermission because I don't think they knew what they were getting into; The area surrounding Richmond is super Christian conservative.

Poor and wrong typing skills for decades and hunt and peck gave me serious tendon problems, forced to work on it by using Kinesis Advantage and learning to touch-type. Beefing up my touch-typing skills with the fabulous app Amphetype that I got from a thread here on GH. Getting better. Sad to do this on a beautiful Sunday while my wife is marking schoolwork...  :-X

Ohhh very interesting concept. I'd be down for a set if you can get them working. It'll be interesting to see how that design compares to the_beast tools. I've always found the_beast tools a little bit clumsy to use.

Yesterday: was about to go to Staraya Ladoga, Russia's oldest capital, but drinking the night before on an ex-colleague's birthday party broke my plans, hehe. So we went to the game consoles exhibition instead. Saw the first gaming console ever (Odyssey Magnavox), first Atari's console (Pong Madness), first color console (Fairchild Channel F), Atari 2600, the Soviet Electronica Videosport and many more.

That's the Magnavox:

Potato album here:

Then went to Saint Petersburg's oldest pyshechnaya (sorta bakery), opened in 1958. Only one kind of pastry, only sweet coffee with milk, but always big crowds.

Then went to the proper restaurant, hehe.

Then watched Interstellar.

Then went to a friend's place for some tea, and she told us she is pregnant. Even her husband doesn't know yet :D

Then watched Tootsie at home.

Ouch!

This is left hand drive, correct?  So she was sitting closest to the impact?

Glad she is ok though :)
In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

my question was the same, the right car driver told a nice fairy tale answering it

yeah, she hit the head-rest with the back of her head. nothing serious.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Played D&D until 2 am. Slept 7.5 hours.  Got up and went to the gym with my workout partners, worked on chest. Wrapped up with sauna and shower. Getting ready to attend USMC dinner tonight.  This event will be bittersweet... Sweet to hang out with other former jarheads, bitter to remember the loss of fallen comrades. Alcohol consumption highly likely tonight.

Agh, trying to buy a house. SO MUCH PAPERWORK!  Don't think I've signed my name so many times in my life as I have in the last 24 hours!

With all those signatures, are you now a house owner?! ;D
