installed 8.1 cause my 7 decided to die on me today. and I've no 7, only 8.1

oh well. darn windows.
It's not that bad, honestly. I have it on all my Windows boxes and vastly prefer it to Windows 7... or anything before.

+1 if you take the time and have the mental energy to learn it well, I think you will like it. Also I've found it runs a bit faster than 7 on the same hardware.
I'm back.

it's not too bad. not saying that it's a real bad thing to use 8.1 over 7. in fact, I'm able to flash my board in 8.1! Weird that I can't do it in 7.

With it installed in your desk, it makes much more sense now. Nice job :). Do you plan on making a top or making a routing channel for the cable?

Prepped myself for winter carnival at school! Here's to four days I won't remember.  ;)

:D  My coworker (former boss) is going up there tonight for winter carnival.  Sounds like a fun time.

Found out a tech guy at my school also has an interest in keyboards through my programming teacher, so that's cool.

I was shocked at the weird mix of trashed college students, parents, and children. I guess it must be fun for the kids but I would never take a child there. Tonight should be another fun night, there are better parties going on.  :thumb:

Dealing with ancient computers...

I am sick of trying to support Pentium 4's...

Why we are still using them here at my company, I have no idea... they should have been phased out a LONG time ago...

And a small percentage of our fleet is still running P4s...

Ideally, that percentage should be zero...

Hopefully we will be switching over to a completely virtualized environment in the not-so-distant future... the server hardware is already in place for it...

Fun fact, I was installing / updating Windows XP on a P4 HT yesterday. Thankfully the PSU failed and since it was a SFF machine, the PSU replacement was worth more than the machine.

Thin-client environments give me nightmares to this day...
P2V of servers is awesome though. Hopefully it works out for you and the P4s go away.

Another fun fact: I've been re-purposing many of our old P4s into "thin clients" (though there's nothing "thin" about them) for the past week or so...

Lubuntu 14.10, and Remmina. They will do for running a +/- 50kbps Remote Desktop session... and save us the money of having to purchase more "legit" thin clients...

Hang out in Off Topic for a while - not much keyboard chatter there :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Today I went to a Portuguese wine visit/tasting with the girlfriend. Damn they were exquisite! We bought one of their best year bottle, 2011. $60 the bottle but it is worth every pennies however once it is opened you have to drink it in the next 2 days.

Couldn't agree more. I got it while it was free on google play and I think it's only been out of my workout playlist 1 day since.

Yeah bill tends to be annoying lately.
Billnye?

Heh.  It's not billnye.
Haha my bad then. It is just that I thought Azhdar was referring to someone called bill. The first I thought of was billnye.

Just found out that I don't have internet at my house until Monday at the earliest. This after Rogers has missed four appointments.  >:D

**** you, Rogers! You're somehow slightly worse than Comcast!

Finished my $60 wine bottle and bought the Hack'd By Geeks set. Am I doing good at living the life as a GeekHacker?

As long as it's not a Merlot, Pinot Grigio, or other equally bad wine, it's okay I guess.

It is a Portuguese type of wine called Porto. It has 20° alcohol and I bought it to a small producer in the countryside when I visited his operation. If you are curious it is: Quinta do tedo, vintage 2011. It is delicious and they ship worldwide .

I only drink Moscato, so I'm not actually a "wine person".  :P  But I'm not a hater.   :-*

Neither do I but I drink more beer than wine. I'm open to both. I did try some good beers back when I was in LA.
