Oh wow... is the RAT 7 actually comfortable? I never considered it seriously because I was afraid it'd be too uncomfortable. It looks, at least on first glance without using it, heavy and bulky with a lot of sharp edges.

What games do you play, and how is it for fast, quick movements (for RTS's)?

Looking at it, I thought it would be uncomfortable too, but it just isn't. It fits my hand perfectly, and now I can't do without the side thumb and pinky rests. So you hand pretty much never touches the mouse pad. The red "aim" button is positioned perfectly and is actually useful, and the forward and back buttons a VERY easy to use, as your thumb always basically rests over them. Just all round great design.

I'm a Battlefield player, been playing FPS games since I was... I don't know, since Quake. I don't find the mouse to be too heavy, but then again, I like a bit of a hefty mouse. I have all the weights installed in mine, and my DPI is set to 4000. Seems to work perfect for me.

You won't notice weight much at high sens, but at 400-800 dpi, which I use, you need to move the mouse far more and then the weight begins to show

That's true. But out of curiosity, why only use 800 DPI? That just seems way too slow for me.

That's what I'm used to and feel the most comfortable with. Much higher than that and everything moves too fast. I can easily adapt to higher dpi if I want to, but 4-900 gives me the control I like and just feels comfortable.

Edit:
Also, if I were to use something like 4k dpi then I'd have a hard time using something like my IME 3.0 which is stuck at 400.

Logitech G9x here.

Used basic MS mice for years, and have had brief interactions with a lot of narrower gaming mice at friends houses, the overall larger size of the G9x works well for my grip /  hand size / etc.

I replaced my Logitech G5 with a Steelseries Sensei at the start of the summer and I love it but it's too picky about surfaces to travel with so I leave it at home and have a Death Adder 2013 which works well on the go. I also love the Mionix Naos 3200 because it feels so good on my giant hands. It reminds me of the G9x which I also used a lot before I gave it to my brother.

I also have the Mionix Naos 5000 and 8200 they are unfortunately the MOST glitchy pair of rodents I have ever come across.  They hate the surface, they jump all round the desktop plus Windows 8 seems to really dislike them both.  They do have updated firmware available but I couldn't be bothered to update them. they now sit in the bottom draw of my desk.

If you can't use a mouse straight out of it's box then it's time to look elsewhere.  Besides I still love some of Microsoft's Rodents, very reliable and no glitchiness present even within Win8.

I had the same issue with my 5000, it's been mostly sitting in my drawer, although the 3200 is safe as that uses an optical sensor.
Did you find that the build quality of the 5000 and 8200 was worse than you'd expect? I expected my 5000 to feel better for that price, probably going to end up harvesting it for the microswitches one day.

Yep, the 8200 feels slightly cheap in quality compared to the 5000.  I wish I got my money back on this wasted purchase on this rodent but you live and learn on what you buy.

For now on I will avoid anything to do with Mionix within the near future, don't fall for that lame statement "Designed in Sweden" rubbish.  I'll stick to Microsoft mice from now on.

Razer DA Black Edition for me. Best ever. Among its other virtues, the surface remains dry to the touch.

The DA 2013 is the same. I absolutely love my 2013 (I have way too many mice though).

Returning my DA 2013 and looking around again.  I realized that it's slightly less comfortable for me as a palm user versus my G5.  The other no-no was that the middle mouse button takes too much force to activate.  The G5 got around this by having the middle button do left/right movements as well so middle click just became shifting the middle button to the left.  I do use the middle mouse button at work (Unix admin) when running multiple X-based shells so it's nice to be able to cut/paste easily.  The other thing I ended up realizing I missed was the DPI buttons that the DA is lacking.

Back to the drawing board I suppose.  I was looking at the Imperator which seems to be more of a G5 design with all the same features and a hopefully better thumb position.  Does Synapse 2 store everything online, no local profiles?  I don't really want to have to deal with the cloud for hardware configurations that should be stored locally.

Synapse has an offline mode now, so you could use it offline if you wish, so profiles are local.

My favorite mouse was a little portable Targus one I got with my first laptop computer in high school.

I used it for at least 5 years without any noticeable degradation and I only got rid of it due to excessive dirt and dust showing through the translucent casing.  Considering that I have never owned a mouse, "gaming" or otherwise, which has lasted that long since, I wish I would've kept it.

i've had 3x mx 500's, 2x mx 518, and now i'm on a g400.  the things keep dying with the same problem every time - the usb connection isn't detected.  i think it's a known issue and i'm surprised it hasn't been fixed throughout the series.  pretty satisfied overall, but i'm thinking about getting a mouse that better suits my claw grip

I hate razer keyboards but the deathadder I own id have to say i quiet enjoy. I also recently bought 2 e-3lue cobra which I'm going to write a review on very soon that I'm liking. I do want to try a zowie though. The deathadder has served me very well for about a year now.

Mine started to double click after 2 years. And now it is hard to find one. If I could get one at a good price, I'll probably buy it.

Why exactly? I'm curious because I ended up choosing the deathadder over the sensei because it was cheaper.

Sensei has an ambidextrous shape, DA is shaped to fit one hand, although unlike most non-ambidextrous mice the DA does have a version for left handed people.
Some prefer ambidextrous shape, some prefer a non-ambidextrous shape, that's pretty much it.

Haven't experienced the sleep mode issue, and in the 2 months I have had the mouse, I haven't had to replace the batteries once.(as it should be)

Anyone else feel like the Zowie FK is a little hard to grab/control? I use it at home and I feel very unused to it after using the G400 at work.

My hand is 20 cm (7.8 - 7.9 inches) from middle finger tip to where my hand ends and my wrist begins, and I use a fingertip grip.

My current mouse is a pre-2013 DeathAdder. If the skin-film wasn't wearing off I would love it. Currently researching what I'll buy next, but so far it's looking like 2013 DA or SS Sensei.

I'm looking at getting a Sensei also. Love my pre 2013 Imperator but I want to try new things.

I'm looking at the Corsair M65. And the Gigabyte Krypton. Having a hard time deciding.

The "sniper" button on the M65 has me weary. leaning towards the krypton although I dislike the branding.

My Deathadder is trash. My feet have finally peeled off and the sticker around the laser... I have had it for about a year now. Razer ...

The Razer copperhead (old) and MS optical wheel mouse were my favorites.

I have been using a steelseries raw for a year and it feels amazing, the weight and shape is perfect for my use. I had a G500 in the past and that was great too, till it broke.

When I was a kid, we had an old Genius trackball that I really liked.  I also have a Logitech Trackman that's stashed away.  For gaming, I love the Naga Razer.  The extra 12 buttons on the side is a must for Guild Wars 2 esp if you main an engineer lol

If you ever want/need to replace the Naga, I would suggest looking at the Logitech G600. I own both, and used to play a lot of GW2, and the G600 was just amazing. The software and the ease of using multiple layers was just amazing. I had skills, dodge and whatnot on one layer and the UI stuff on another. Numpad is so much better than on the Naga.

I have ordered a ROCCAT Kone XTD hence when it arrives I'll give it a close inspection.  The main reason why I bought it, because it's NOT a Razer Product  ;D .

Seriously it's a good sized mouse meaning it's the largest one in their current range so I tend to buy the BIG rodents (rats) to play with.  If this new one meets with my comfort and joy, then I will buy another ROCCAT mouse to see what's the rest of their range like.  I am hoping they are far superior to the recent wastage of moolah tossed at certain manufacturers, that DO NOT deserve any patronage.......hint, hint.

The Naga is a good mouse, it is actually one of my favourite mice simply due to the shape.
Although if you're looking for a new mouse and like having lots of buttons, see if you can try a G600. Buttons are way better, as is the software, but depending on how you use your mouse the shape might be a dealbreaker, so unless the side buttons are top priority I would recommend trying before you buy.

Thanks mate, ill have a look into it, yeah i do love the shape of the naga though. Currently studying 3D animation and graphic design so shape is key as i need a good grip on the mouse for precision but i might keep my naga for that and have the G600 as a gaming mouse/general use/
