Ergodox keycaps on a Kinesis LF?
« on: Sat, 18 January 2014, 05:01:51 »
For a Kinesis Advantage LF board,

I am wondering how closely this set of Ergodox keys would fit:

Would I need any additional keys at all?

My current situation is, life-after-topre (a hhkb and a Filco TKL which I still like), I don't intend to buy any more non-ergonomic MXs.  The two that I am currently interested in are AcidFire's board (which I assume will have a Ergodox-like layout) and the Kinesis for its wells and built-in tenting.

I am looking to get enough of these Round 5 sphericals to fit either board and need some keycap configuration advice from current owners.

In particular, near the bottom of this thread,

http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=23446.390

I see some funky R5 for the QWERTY row and other unusual R's for the other rows.  I am guessing this is to compensate for the wells in the Kinesis?  Even with the number of keys available in Round 5, I'm not sure if I can piece together the correct R's indicated in that link.

How ugly would it be if I were to drop that Ergodox set into an Advantage?

EDIT:  I see from here:

http://keycapsdirect.com/key-caps.php

that the Advantage DCS row numbers don't really correspond to Round 5 SA row numbers, so that implies that I don't need to worry about that aspect.

So I am guessing that the SA doubleshots should be fine (if someone has actually tried this out, please do let me know).  I am investigating missing keys going from that Ergodox set now.
