I think in the same way. It should be related with its oddness. Its lack of commonness. No other sixty with left arrows is around yet.

Aesthetics is about of common things. It is about something we are accustomed to enough, that it is already familiar and unoffensive.

well said. :thumb:

A necro update to my upcoming hand-wired board.
Components: Everything has arrived, including the plate, the keycaps, the switches, the controller, and even the diodes.
I will post some pictures of the first mockups tomorrow in better lighting. Meanwhile, I want to offer a summary of the target switches for this project:
Aliaz Tactile 70g review

Sound: Low deep bass.
Feeling: Smooth.
Tactility: Subtle.
Construction: They wobble as much as any other Gats.
Overall: Coming from ergo-clears and Zealios Gen 2, these switches feel nicer.
Conclusion: My new low-cost favorite switch. I do not see any reason to buy from Z.

thanks. i've been looking at the aliaz for quite some time. been wanting to try some of the new dampened mx stuff.

what's the tactility of the aliaz compared to ergo-clears (currently using ergo-cleara, so would be a great comparison. i've also had cherry browns)

will definitely put these on my "to get" list....

Based on the limited experience I have had with tactile switches, that is 2 years with browns and 3+ years with ergo-clears and 2 years with Zealios 2 gen. Of course, these are only my opinions based only in my own personal perceptions. I have not try to get a quantitative measurement. Maybe those with lab resources at hand may try it, or actually did it already.

thank you very much!
that's good enough for me, with enough of my own experience to decipher.

Hope that helps.

I am looking forward to wire my board to get the full experience of typing daily on the Aliaz. They really feel nice and don't bother my beloved ones during my late night typing.

i've been running the QMX "quiet clips" for years (both original (black) and the newer (milky/clear)) for the same effect with varying results because of keycaps. it depends on the cross braces on the underside of the keycap on the down stroke whether it will actually quiet it at all. i did find a good combination with the limited options/parts i have.
the original black rubber clips & a set of cherry NPKC blanks i got from massdrop years ago, very nice & quiet too.

i have a similar setup on my split ortho board but with the newer milky/clear clips and a set of oem blanks from YDMK (which i believe are from the same factory but there is definitely a difference in how "quiet" they are. i attribute it to the difference in the caps.

I'll try to upload a sound file with a sample of the typing sound of these Aliaz. I have not tried clips, but the Aliaz are definitely quieter than any other switch that I have tried so far.

IKR. It is for the community. I have learned a lot over the years at GH and contributed little if any. So no worries. If this small piece of information helps someone, that would be great.
