Went a little crazy today TBH, but it's stuff i needed so...
A ePBT 117 key Russian & Orange key cap set,
a ePBT TADA68 stock set (been swapping keys on & off my TADA68 for other boards so I figured just get another set),
A cheapo orangish/yellowish ABS laser etched (I believe from the price?) DSA 48 key ortho set for my Let's Split (same deal as my TADA68. Needed a dedicated set for it, even if it's not a super high quality one in this case),
& a Gateron silent brown, Aliaz 60g, & Aliaz 70g switch for my switch collection/testers from KBDfans.
A Tai-Hao ABS doubleshot 104 key Dolch key cap set for my Dell AT101W from mechanicalkeyboards, com.
A 101 key APL key cap set for my Model M,
a RGB modifier set for my Model M,
3 different colored space bars (black, pearl, & grey) for my Model M,
& 4 different GH keys for my Model M from Unicomp (pckeyboard.com)
Also a active PS2 to USB converter I'm hoping will work with the AT101W & Model M,
an OTG cable to hook my KBs up to my phone if need be,
2 more tips for my de-soldering iron,
& another tin of tip tinner to get me into the free shipping from Amazon.

Kinda a long list & a little crazy for one day, but it's all stuff I've needed & will set me right with having at least one nice key cap set for each of my boards finally! :thumb:

Are those more like reds or blacks anyway?

Personally, I see the switch as more of a rare novelty. Not big on linears, and afaik, that switch isn't even notable for being special technically, only in rarity. Still, a cool addition to a collection, that's for sure :)

From my experience with them, it's like a median between the two. They are definitely not nearly as light as red switches but they aren't quite as heavy as black either.

I haven't seen many international english doubleshots from Cherry, this one has hungarian sublegends engraved in the upper right corners.

(Some of the MY switches were not working, so I already replaced the inside with a G80-1000 electronics.)

Pretty poor quality to be honest. It looks like someone wrapped each cap by hand in aluminum foil. In any case, it started a whole thread over on DT.  :))

Some of those caps are gold plated zinc, which is better than foil covered plastic at least :P It isn't my thing, but I could see some people liking the feeling of cold metal. I'm not one to judge, I had some questionable stylistic choices in my youth :P

I don't like the idea of zinc keycaps because of knowing what zinc does after a decade or two, and I don't want zinc whiskers raining onto the PCB...

Somewhere I've seen stainless steel keys which would be a great alternative, especially if the switches you use are a little too heavy. I think a full stainless board would look nice if the keys were silver, but other colors like gold are just too much. In any case, the ones I received are foil over plastic which looks pretty terrible.

So, while I've had this Apple //c keyboard with Alps SKCM Amber switches for years...

... These spare Alps Amber switches just arrived in the mail today:
God, do I love Alps Amber switches! Literally my favorite tactile feel AND my favorite clicky sound! Ain't no Blue can hold a candle to Amber!  ;D

I ordered a handful of additional Alps Amber switches, so I can hopefully get underway with my Bluetooth llcB build. I think I've only got a little left on my Danger Zone 75% + 1 keyboard, with it's magnetically detachable number pad, and would like parts on hand to switch over to the new project right away, once it's done. When that happens... I don't know... I put in 90 hours on my current paycheck. Ugh... Been so worn out lately!

Still in the mail, are some keys to go with those additional switches. I got both the [Open Apple] and [Closed Apple] keys, another [Reset] key, and the two small slanted toggle button keycaps (the weird looking switches to the right of the Reset key). I wanna drill and file out an opening in the plate to fit one more modifier key down below, filling in the 1u gap.

• Esc will move up to where the Reset key is located
• [~`] will move to where [Esc] was
• [Closed Apple] key will be moved to the gap in the modifier row
• [Open Apple] key will replace the right [Closed Apple] key, to mimic dual [Command] keys, as is often found on Mac keyboards
Don't shoot me... Control and Caps Lock will likely be swapped. This is both for familiarity and for Kerbal Space Program's default throttle controls
• Either a small trackball or a small trackpad will be placed in the upper right corner, where the LEDs currently are
• The two [Reset] buttons (the existing one, plus the one in the mail) would become mouse buttons, mounted next to the trackball/trackpad
• The two small slanted toggle button key caps that are in the mail will be mounted to the top right edge of the case, as shoulder buttons

The shoulder buttons are intended for use with the upper right corner of the keyboard gripped, where the trackball is used by the thumb, and the two shoulder buttons would be the two mouse buttons, operated like a game controller's shoulder buttons. They would serve as duplicate mouse buttons, and would be electrically paralleled to the two mouse buttons on the top right of the keyboard.

Alternately, the trackball have is exactly 1u wide. Sadly, it's much longer, about the same length of the [Shift] key. It would be theoretically possible to cut the PC board down, and manually wire the connections. If this were done, It could be butted up into the 1u gap in the modifier row... Which quite frankly, would be AMAZING... Thing is, I only have ONE of these mini trackballs, and I'm kinda afraid to heavily modify it, incase I permanently break it. If I give up on an [Open Apple] to the right of the Spacebar, I could shift the arrow keys one key left, and open up the bottom right corner. Being able to spread out in one direction, plus being easily accessible to the right thumb would be kinda convenient... Depending on how things fit together, I could side mount, or even possibly bottom mount those narrow buttons, depending on where the fingers naturally lie when placing the thumb on a bottom right corner mounted trackball... I mean, it's a cool idea, but I also have so much open space at the top right... That'd simply be easier. We'll see.

The only reason I think it'd be possible, is that the only component on one side of that trackball's PC board is just a connector and one of the two mounting holes. If the board was cut, and wires were soldered directly to the board, skipping the connector, and that mounting hole were removed, then it could fit flush. I'm just concerned about damaging the mechanism if I cut into it, and whether it'll even mount properly with only one mounting hole.

Sadly, I'm still looking for the upper plastic shell, but I did find the lower plastic shell for an Apple //c, at least. It's a start.
It's in the mail along with those  key caps that I bought.

If anyone's got the top shell, the handle, or even the whole case, I'd be interested, btw.

When I see "Post your battle station" threads, THIS is what I imagine! I love it! Is that a VFD screen on the right side too! You putting that to use on your setup or not? That keyboard screams either video editing or publishing, with possibly CNC controls as a distant third to me, but I could be wrong. What's the primary application? Either way, there's no sinking that battleship!

Really dig that purple-on-grey! Much respect to companies that go all out with the double shot.
Personally, I tend to veer spherical, but those are nice looking keys. Pretty cool that they come with some unique text too.

JSpacers should be arriving early this week. Figured I'd try them out before I drop $100 on Zilents :)

So, while I've had this Apple //c keyboard with Alps SKCM Amber switches for years...
Show Image

... These spare Alps Amber switches just arrived in the mail today:
God, do I love Alps Amber switches! Literally my favorite tactile feel AND my favorite clicky sound! Ain't no Blue can hold a candle to Amber!  ;D
Show Image

I ordered a handful of additional Alps Amber switches, so I can hopefully get underway with my Bluetooth llcB build. I think I've only got a little left on my Danger Zone 75% + 1 keyboard, with it's magnetically detachable number pad, and would like parts on hand to switch over to the new project right away, once it's done. When that happens... I don't know... I put in 90 hours on my current paycheck. Ugh... Been so worn out lately!

Show Image

Gotta say, I love Alps so seeing that build in it's beginning stages is pretty sweet! As for the Deko, it's actually a character generator, for placing text on live feeds like what you'd see on the news.
I proxy anything including keyboards (キーボード / 鍵盤), from both Japan (日本) and China (中國). For more information, you may visit my dedicated webpage here: https://www.keyboards.es/proxying.html

I haven't tried Amber, but Alps tactiles are fantastic.  Have you tried box navy to compare to Amber Alps? Navies are the only MX switch I've found that are in the same really of tactility of Alps switches.

Alps Amber are the only switch I haven't had I believe, but I also haven't tried any of the new switches since like 2015. So Tealios, Zealistotles, Kailh Box, etc. are a no go on my end.

I don't know if this is old news or what, but MaxKey Miami Nights is back, one set on its way to me:

Also it seems Portland is too, though maybe that never went away?

Crazy question: How far is the serial number on your Leopold FC660C from, say, Serial No. 001042 ?

I'm trying to guesstimate how old a certain Leopold is from models produced this year, so I can perhaps see if I am being scammed on how new (or old) this one is.

You don't need to tell me the exact number, just give me a digit range. Thanks.

just checked mine and its in the mid 001XXX range as far as serial numbers go. One thing to keep in mind thought is a serial number doesn't really tell ya a sold date only manufactures date. I got mine in October/November last year from https://mechanicalkeyboards.com I would assume it be newer stock. Though its still possible its one that was laying in a warehouse before being shipped out.
