Picked up an M15 - Some questions..

So I grabbed an M15, and was wondering - does it use the same caps as regular moldel M's? I guess I mean; could you use the same caps as Model M's?


I am simply assuming the M15 caps are dye subbed PBT (minus the space bar, most likely).


Any thoughts on day to day use? How do you like it, and how long did it take you to adapt to the layout?

afaik they have the same stem, but the keys are different shaped then the ones from a normal Model M. But I know it only from pics, never had one.

And they should be dye-sub pbt

I believe they do not use the same stems as regular Model Ms, but rather the one-piece keys used in the Model M2s.

From pictures, it looks like the keycaps are differest profiles, while a typical Model M are all the same profile.  Considering the M15 does not have a curved backplate, that makes sense.

The M15 should use the same caps as the Model M2. Here's an excerpt from the M2 article on the DT wiki:

The keycaps were of a different, incompatible type to the regular Model M ones. They were lower profile, and had a shorter and narrower stem. They were still made of PBT and still used dye sublimation printing.

The M15 is based upon the chassis of the Model M2 keyboard, and uses the same lower profile style of keycaps that are incompatible with those on a standard Model M keyboard

Thanks for the info. I seen some pics of the M15 caps, they definitely will not work on a standard M.
