GeekHack Survey
« on: Fri, 05 October 2012, 04:35:05 »
Is the Survey from qualtrics.com legitimate? If so, to what extent are the metrics anonymous, if at all?

I personally do not like to give personal information, nor did I find a topic of this first before it was sent out.

I hate JS fake buttons too.

:p   If you are a geek then you really should be able to figure out whether it's legit.  If you've ever received a notification (for PMs or subscribed threads) then you can compare the routing headers and see that they are the same.

tl;dr ->  Yeah we sent that.

As for anonymization... we aren't providing any information to the marketer or manufacturer.  They will only have the information you provide.  That said, they're the people you would have to deal with to find out more.

Just because the routing headers are the same does not make it safe or intended, especially with GH's recent past. :P

I did. I also gave them crap about the detachable proprietary cable which wasn't USB.

That and so much more. Did anyone else notice that the USD and EUR prices were the same?

At least their advertising didn't include some bull**** about gold plated, no latency, gaming calibrated etc. Fairly little bull****, only some gimmicky slogans, but no outright lies unlike some manufacturers.

Yes, I frequently get well formed messages with links to a valid survey company with an on-topic survey about products I might be interested in.  I get this sort of spam daily.

Really going to trash talk and get all snotty-sarcastic about a guy asking a very simple and valid question to ensure his security?

Perhaps not everyone knows it is a "valid survey company". And of course it is going to be "on-topic" or it wouldn't even warrant asking.

Thanks for clearing it up (with a terrible attitude).

I'm sarcastic, get over it.  If I wanted someone to take it personally, they'd know.

I think a survey should be sent out to members asking random questions.

"Do you like puppies or kitties more?"
"Do you sleep with the light on like a scared little baby?"
Hmm... We use to have polls at Geekhack.  And those random questions used to be asked by this guy: Microsoft Windows.

Wow, I didn’t even notice that. Such a bull****.

Well, let’s hope they get enough responses from geekhackers to change their mind.

By the way, I loled at the question “what keyboard brands are you aware of”.

Polls would be useful, although I think their reasoning behind not enabling polls in SMF is to eliminate "troll polls" and other such polls... but that's just my guess.

As for the arcade, I miss that too... I'm tempted to join a random vbulliten forum just to be able to play around with their arcade.

Thanks. At the least an announcement would have made anyone's day. And yes, I know it came from the server. But I can myself send from your server too, and use a survey like qualtrics.com to phish information. And at the least on the last rootworm hack, they have everyone's email address.
