Yes it is, now if only I could remember who was looking for the computer part to make something cool with it.

Oooo...such a great system to throw 95 on and enter in some numbers in the field, haha.

I could imagine carrying that into an accounting office...

But it's very retro-cool.  Great to see that it still boots up.  Too bad they wiped the network analyzer software.  Would have been worth more to me that way.

I'm surprised this is still up.  Awesome caps and awesome switches.  I hate Blues, but the "vintage" Blues on the Dolch Pac feel great and have a much nicer sounding (less harsh) click to them.

Glad this went to a good home. :)

Does it have an external vga port so the one with the ccft tube issue can still be used?

I can't believe how long that went un-bought. Glad it's going to a Geekhacker's home. I spent waaaaay more than this on my Dolch PAC keyboard, and I even asked the seller to keep the computer part and just ship the board to get a break on shipping.

And for those who don't know, yes, this really is the board everyone raves about. The "vintage" blues are excellent with the OG Cherry doubleshots. I have lent my Dolch PAC out to two people who ended up getting sucked into the mechanical keyboard world as a direct result.

I have not tried vintage blues yet, as I do not like blues at all, but I will, just because of your comment.

But it's very retro-cool.  Great to see that it still boots up.  Too bad they wiped the network analyzer software.  Would have been worth more to me that way.

Would it be able to do analysing I wonder?  It has no v6 knowledge or probably netflow but it would be good to see how it compares to wireshark.

The one I already have and this one both have the VGA port.  This one's disk/OS is corrupted, so I will either transplant the HDD from the one I have with the dark display or ask Alienman for his disks.  Shouldn't be a big issue.  What I'm mainly concerned about is all those fun quirks from the early days...ISA port conflicts, soundblaster compatible not compatible, DMA issues, etc.  LOL.  Really brings back the memories.

Also guys pls keep an eye out for another one of these for neverused.  He PM'd me when I was already working it out with kokokoy so he's still looking for one.

On modern networks, no.  But the insurance and investments company I worked at a long time ago was still running a token ring network with terminals and an old IBM RS series server.  When you pay lots of $$$$$ for custom software and all your data is in it you tend to make interesting decisions regarding network upgrades and such.

After my son grows out of DOS we will probably hack an ITX mobo into this.  Those card slots might come in handy!

In mine the battery had leaked, and that acid had burned through the harddrive and the metal bottom of the case.
So I took it all apart ... and then noticed that I did not know how to reconnect the wires again.
If you do take it apart, do take photographs or drawings of everything you disconnect!

I want to start him in dos, so he can understand what is underneath the pretty gui of his phone/computer/tablet. Closer to the hardware. Closer to the filesystem.

Makes sense. Then when he outgrows capitalism you can move him to the Linux shell!

I don't know what the original did so it's hard to say.  I would think it would probably analyze 10base-2/10-base-5/10-base-T/Arcnet and some others that were available back in the day.
Glad this went to a good home. :)

Glad this went to a good home. :)

Does it have an external vga port so the one with the ccft tube issue can still be used?

For neverused, and anyone else who is interested in these, here are some useful links (basically steer clear of models with the trackpad and/or low profile caps):
Deskthority wiki on Dolch PAC's
Another thread on Deskthority
A great thread on GH about Dolch PAC's
Thank you sir!

If anyone finds another complete one like this, I'm interested in the analyzer part. I already have the keyboard. :)

Yeah, I will only be looking for the ones with MX blues, and no ISO.

Thank you, I'll have to see what jdcarpe thinks as I had committed to splitting a system with him and this one doesn't seem to be in working order.

I wonder if you could change the innards of the PAC and turn it into a portable gaming powerhouse...
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I don't see why not.  The only thing that might be really hard is getting a large enough power supply.

You'll have to replace the screen and PSU as well. Not super hard, but takes some fabrication.

I'm going to be using mine with DOS for a while for my son. When he gets older, we will do what you are talking about. ITX probably.
I'm back.
