Oh well, apparently our whole last page and the IC thread is gone :(

Site was down earlier today, they probably had to restore the database from a backup or something.

You're a life saver! Thanks :)

EDIT: can't seem to be able to open the PDF for this thread though, random unreadable characters.

Hey Guys,

Thanks again LeandreN for the awesome group buy, made me pull the trigger on making my first custom! Sorry if my questions have already been answered, I can't seem to open the backup PDF of the thread.

I just wanted to check whether the PCB supports split backspace/split right shift/split left shift layouts - I know it does on the WKL store, but I'm not sure if the pre-soldering will preclude these layouts.

Cheers :)

It will support all the layouts you mentioned. All the information is still in the OP on page 1.

Sadly have almost nothing to trade, since I just started sourcing stuff in the keyboard realm :(

I got a a vpro v700 for crazily cheap, just to play around with and maybe harvest for parts if that's something for you  :p

I'll attach the PDF once more, for good measure. This thread wasn't too interesting to have saved, I'm happy I got the ic though :D

I'm looking at this case as a potential alternative to the Tex aluminum case.  It just has stand-offs and doesn't have the ridges that would be an issue with the RGB LEDs.

Does anybody have one of these?  It looks like it would probably work without modification.

Sooo does anybody know how WKL manages it to put RGB underlighting + in switch lighting in even their full size boards, still running under 500 mA? i imagine the in switch LEDS are PWM regulated, but what about the RGB ones? :D

Oh, and since we get the 60%'s and their website says 810 Ohm resistors work for all colors at that size, does anyone know whats up with that? how can that work, just one value working for all colors, and why is this size sensitive? :D

If you use 810 Ohm resistors for all colors, the risk of dead leds is low. The only problem, is that some colors can have more light.
RGB leds on wkl have 4 pins, 1 for "color code" , 2 for power, and the last I don't know (didn't saw the datasheet), but maybe for on/off.

The color a RGB led produces is always controlled through PWM afaik. You can think of them as 3 single leds (Red, Green and Blue) that are PWM regulated, grouped together in a very small space.

The color a RGB led produces is always controlled through PWM afaik. You can think of them as 3 single leds (Red, Green and Blue) that are PWM regulated, grouped together in a very small space.

The wkl pcb uses a WS2812B as rgb led.

Specifications

 Power Supply Voltage: +3.5V+5.3V
 Input Voltage: -0.5VDD+0.5V
 Red Vf: 1.8~2.2V
 Green Vf: 3.0~3.2V
 Blue Vf: 3.2~3.4V
 Red Wavelength: 620~630 nm
 Green Wavelength: 515~530 nm
 Blue Wavelength: 465~475 nm
 Red luminous intensity(20mA): 550~700 mcd
 Green luminous intensity(20mA): 1100~1400mcd
 Blue luminous intensity(20mA): 200~400 mcd
Product Description
WS2812 is an intelligent control LED light source that the control circuit and RGB chip are integrated in a package of 5050 components. It includes intelligent digital port data latch and signal reshaping amplification drive circuit. Also include a precision internal oscillator and a 12V voltage programmable constant current control part, effectively ensuring the pixel point light color height consistent.

LED with low driving voltage, environmental protection and energy saving, high brightness, scattering angle is large, good consistency, low power, long life and other advantages. The control chip integrated in LED above becoming more simple circuit, small volume, and convenient installation.

You are right, the pwm control the color

Since the PCB is from Wkl, I assume I can order a translucent housing/casing from Wkl right?

Okay ladies and gentlemen.

Gateron's are shipped from gateron themselves to Corus KB. I will then proceed to pay them. PCB mounted gateron blues. Plates are in production and will ship to me before christmas, same with PCBs. (atleast the tier 3 ones.)
