Thanks for the updates people.

Do any of you guys now if i am allowed to use my Heatware to get feedback from this GB?

If you are, I'll make an account and leave some feedback for you :)

Got my stuff today!

Quick question: Does anyone else have trouble fitting Zealios flush with the PCB without cutting the PCB pins on the switch? Or is cutting those pins something you have to do with Zealios on this board?

Yeah, my Zealios aren't quite flush either, but they seem to be in as far as I can get them. At this point it's too much of a hassle to take all the switches out to clip the legs. I don't think there will be any issues, but we'll see.

hey guys I made a tutorial for just this problem

better than clipping the nubs because you retain the stability, and quicker than filing them down too.

Nice! Thanks, I'll have to try this when I get home. Now I feel bad for the one Zealios that I did clip. Poor guy...

I got my stuff today! Well, actually yesterday, but I was working from home and didn't feel like driving an hour in the snow to pick it up.

There was basically zero shipping damage to my order. The box looked completely intact:

Everything unpacked:

It turned out that the plate was bowed downwards slightly (I didn't notice until I set it on a flat surface), but I fixed that with some very gentle bending. Other than that, everything was perfect. 10/10 would buy again.

Thanks, LeandreN!
You still have a lot of snow on the west side of the state?

Finished my build. My first custom. It was a lot of fun. SIP sockets were kinda annoying to do though.

Mobile camera so sorry for the bad images.

I assembled my board and something isn't right. I get some crazy chatter, keys are actuating way before they should (I'm talking 1g of pressure and they actuate and register several key presses. Also after updating the firmware, as soon as the board is plugged in, it seems that all keys are being pressed at once. I get a random 4-character string that is constantly being pressed, but its random every time. Any help?

I tried following this http://blog.winkeyless.kr/183 but nothing is changing...

If the keyboard is in bootmapper mode, the board will spit out the row/column of the pressed switch when you press a key. It looks something like "-4,5=" for a single keypress. Is that anything like what you are seeing?

It's usually something like "xs3xs3xs3". That's what it just posted when I plugged it in.

It doesn't stop until i hit a key, then it spams that key instead. Using switch hitter, it shows a,s,x,3 all pressed when i plug it in, and it doesn't show them ever being released. Also get some function keys showing up too.

Mine arrived today. Looks like it was manhandled on the way here. Part of the box flap was torn open but nothing seems to be missing. Plate was slightly bent, but that's to be expected I guess. Looking forward to assembling it. Thanks again.

I received my PCB, plate and stabilizers today. USPS did a great ****ing job! PCB is cracked down the right side and the plate came completely deformed :(
I was able to fix the plate (a little, still bumpy) but I doubt the WKL PCB will work.
Pic is attached, along with the heartfelt letter from USPS.

Thats horrible. I was scared when my package came damaged, but fortunately everything seemed ok.

Can you not get any compensation from USPS?

I don't think so. I was about to start a claim for an international package but there is no USPS number on the package. The package is also valued to $10 so the most I could probably get back is that amount lol

Holy ****. I have no idea how they managed to **** up that badly.

The package isn't registered in any system, so I doubt they even noted the value I put on. Definitely send them a complaint. I'll PM you.

This one is the one I used predominantly:
It's really helpful - soldering starts at 50:08 and there is a bunch of other useful information as well.

Thanks for all the updates!

I have an official statement to come with. I will probably send an email too.

There will be no more Winkeyless group buys in the nearest future.

Hojin kindly told me that Winkeyless won't run another group buy. For those that don't know, Winkeyless was the source for PCBs and stabilisers in this group buy. This means that i need to source new PCBs, and that will take a while(PM me if you have any suggestions). Plates will go on, maybe even sandwhich cases, that I have been wanting to do for a while. I have a website i am working on, and I will be trying to run my group buys of that site, i will still be making a GB thread here on Geekhack.

We have had some up and downsides of this group buy, as always. Tier 2 was upgraded to Tier 3, which became a problem for some people, shipping prices went up and USPS is messing around.
Please email me if you have a problem with your order! leandre.north@gmail.com

Thanks for joining, and I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your builds.

My red plate arrived, but its bent a bit on the right side, i was going to put some material over the plate and use a hammer to flatten it, but then i realized the aluminum might compress because of the force from the hammer and decided not to do it.  Anyone know of a good method for flattening aluminum plates?

Luckily i decided to use the gray plate first, so i dont need to use the red one soon.  Also im having a hard time deciding, split right shift or no split right shift?

Thanks for the excellent GB, these are by far my favorite universal plates.

For your next GB will the true Winkeyless and HHKB plates support Alps stabilizers?  :)

When I plug the pcb in I get the "USB Device Not Recognized" error. I followed the instructions on the winkeyless website to plug it in while activating the U key and that doesn't work. Not sure what to do. I've tried with multiple usb cables, multiple usb ports and both my desktop and laptop. idk what I am doing wrong.

Haven't gotten my PCB, stabs and plate yet (Aussie probs), hoping everything will be ok when it is shipped internationally  :-[ , but I'm just having a look at the firmware and was wondering which one I should use. The winkeyless blog states that the 1.0 version should be used but was just wondering if the website is outdated as there's a 1.1 version now.
Should I just be using the most recent version?
Also, will there be an issue with firmware regarding the tier 2 PCB? Do I have to download a different version?

Thanks  :)

What is the connection on the teensy? Is it micro or mini USB?

I was under the impression that a teensy was a type of controller. I'm probably way off   :-[
What would you call the controller on the winkeyless PCB?

The teensy is a development board all by itself. It has an Atmega32U4 microcontroller plus some some other circuits on a little board. Some keyboards have a socket for this and use kne as the controller.

The winkeyless keyboard PCBs just have the microcontroller (a Atmega32) soldered directly to the PCB.

my enjoypbt set doesnt have keys for split backspace so i dont think i can do split backspace.
Use different keys from the same row. Since you're putting Esc as first key, you can use the Pipe/backslash (or whatever it is in your native layout) as 13th key and, say, num lock key as last.

Has anyone had any issues trying to get the keyboard to go into Flash Programming mode? I've tried holding q, shift+Q but nothing seems to work. I can enter bootmapper mode (holding tab) no problem.
Holding Q works for the FaceW.
You need to hold down the standard Ctrl key for the B.Face X2. Mind you, the by standard Ctrl I mean the bottom left key, no matter if you remap it.

There will be no more Winkeyless group buys in the nearest future.
That's sad because the B.Face X2 is definetely the best board I tried and I'm glad I got two.
Anyway, the only real alternative at this point is GON's NerD 60, although I've heard it takes forever to be shipped.

By the way, you can combine 3 posts into 1 here.

Still looking for Zealio so that I can finally start my build, but looks like I may have to wait until R2 drops.
