You guys all have such sterile looking desktops.  Like houses you see in magazines. They don't look lived-in at all.

Mine looks so lived-in that ... (and that's where I ran out of metaphors).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

"Choose" a wallpaper? Screw that, mine alternates so I don't have to.

Speaking of, I'm not even going to bother screenshotting my wallpaper because I'm just basic Windows 7, no sexy rainmeter or anything else.

Instead, have the top 150 wallpapers in my current rotation.

You don't need icons at all.
On my netbook and on my desktop I have a blank grey background (or some nature wallpaper with light filter), no taskbar. If I want to run a program I use Win+R. Works like a charm.

Maybe someone here can help me.  I'm looking for this wallpaper Asus has been using in a lot of their videos.  It's the hexagon looking one in this video:

You could try post your request over at 4chan. If someone can help you, /wg/ can.

Or you could print screen when the wallpaper is fullscreen, crop it, and google image search.

But I already did it for you. Wallpaper as requested.

It's really nice if you like dynamically created layouts and workspaces.
Only thing I don't like is how ugly its panel is, so I use conky instead.
