I'm hoping this doesn't run in KAT >_< Seems I'm in the minority, though! Is PBT a consideration for you, or mainly just between GMK and KAT?
PBT would be ideal but I don't really like epbt or infinikey so it leaves much to desire
could bother hammer and see if you can get it run in CRP
Always figured Hammer was the "designer" and CRP the manu.
Am I mistaken or is Hammer the spokesman
hammer is both designer and manufacturer
they own the CRP molds
CRP is only a profile
Is profile the correct wording for that?
it stands for cherry replica profile
It's technically "Classic Reissue Profile" - source: https://drop.com/buy/hammer-bsp-classic-beige-pbt-dye-subbed-keycap-set/talk/2245672 -- in other words, a profile meant to replicate the classic, Cherry profile.
I know it says "Classical" but I know for a fact that Hammer meant to say Classic.
Cheers.
nice
Reading Drop's overview, it looks like BSP is the manufacturer and Hamm3r is the designer. Or am I misunderstanding something?
BSP hasn't made cherry profile PBT caps in years (at least since 2017+- a year) and hammer jumped the gun on that GB
basically they had to make their own molds to be able to run the sets
there's a thread about it somewhere in that MD discussion
Let's stop speculating and being lazy.
Here's an overview of what happened.
About the Hammer "BSP" Round 4 Group-Buy:Also called CRP R1.
GB thread on Geekhack, GB run on
Massdrop.com and in China (Taobao).
1. BSP group buy opened in April of 2018. About $170 per set and a bit for child kits. Plus tax, and shipping.
2. Around October 2018, Hammer and Massdrop announced that BSP basically told them to **** off with BSP blanks. The way it worked was that Hammer would order BSP blank sets and Hammer would take them to dye-sublimate legends on them. That's how all "BSP __" sets were made.
3. Massdrop offered an option for people to either (A) drop from the buy and get a refund, (B) opt back into the buy and proceed with it, because Hammer expected to have a solution. (At this point a lot of people dropped)
4. Hammer offered a solution: they would create a whole brand-new, original production of Cherry profile keycaps and dye-sublimate themselves. In other words, they would own the full production line. This new line was called CRP - Classic Reissue Profile.
5. People who opted back in did so by November 5, 2018, and the buy continued. Hammer announced that those who did would get TWO sets per set ordered. Predetermined by the name of the set they ordered. These were:
BSP Tulip OG -> CRP Tulip OG + CRP Hebrew Green
BSP Tulip GK -> CRP Tulip GK + CRP Hebrew Blue
BSP Arabic -> CRP Arabic + CRP Cyrillic ( Moscow Night )
BSP APL -> CRP APL + CRP JIPink ( Sakura Rain )
6. People received their sets later, like around January 2019.
7. (Mass)Drop sold extras sometime later in October 2019. End of Hammer BSP Round 4 aka CRP R1.
