I agree with what DukeEsquire said about the kits.
With Kono as your vendor you need to do advertising / promos. They're great for running niche sets. They don't usually have the best prices (part of this is MOQ expectations and novelkeys penchant for 500 moq base). Oblotzky ran crimson cadet on novelkeys with a 115$ base including numpad, and between novelkeys' newsletter, Oblotzky's prominence in the community, and the low base price-the set sold itself. Didn't use Dvorcol's pretty graphs, I don't even know the final numbers.
For Nines, Umbra, GMK Copper now, there's a post on the reddit forums every few days with ads and giveaways for hype. Krelbit's switchmod site used another trick to get numbers up early for Zambumon's GMK Sandstorm and make MOQ look attainable-order a base kit on the first day the kit goes on sale, it's 5$ off. Once upon a time you probably didn't have to do that, but the number of sets per month is now so high:
