Apple Mac M0402
« on: Sat, 25 August 2012, 20:43:27 »
I have an opportunity to get a Apple Macintosh M0402 with the original keyboard and mouse. It has a bad capacitor but does turn on to checkered screen. I was told the capacitor can be replaced easily with a radio shack cap and soldering knowledge.

Mostly I was just thinking of trying to save it from the scrap heap and being totally honest have no desire to keep, other than to see it not go in the trash, I would probably sell it or trade it to someone that would either fix it or collect it.

Any of you vintage computer guys have any thoughts on this. Thanks in advance.

**I'm not trying to sell it on this thread I am just trying to find out if it is worth saving**

Somebody will buy it from you and he/she'll build a shrine around it.

I can't google for which model the M0402 is. The Macintosh Classic II?

If you can't get it working, at least use the case for something. Case mod for a NAS, "Macquarium" or whatever.
I find the pizza box Mac's to be quite stylish -- you could use one as a monitor stand. ;)

After more than 8 months I'd say this one is long gone.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Mandolin seriously...what's with necro'ing all these threads?
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

Trying to hit minimum comment amount to post a classified?  I have noticed a lot of weird thread necros from Mandolin.

Edit:  Yup, definitely trying to hit a min amount to post classifieds, just look at the signature.
