Welcome to the group buy for JTK Red Riot and JTK Yolch
These sets are running in tandem, and will be produced at the same time, but they have separate MOQs (100 each).

JTK Red Riot is the first set of its kind. Red ABS blanks have NEVER been done before, and have long been a grail set of mine. I decided it was finally time to make it a reality.

JTK Yolch is a classic colorway that is finally coming to fruition. I've been assured by JTK that their latest revision to the legends will be an improvement over the current iterations. I have seen pictures, and I can assure that this is the case.
Set specifics:
Red Riot is 131 keys, Yolch is 148 keys.
Compatible layouts include:
- TKL
- Fullsize
- Leopold 660M/C
- 1800 (7u only)
- HHKB (7u only)
- 65%
- 75%
- Split space layouts
- Partial 40% compatability
- Tsangan (Winkeyless)
Prices vary slightly by proxy, but they are around $50USD for Red Riot and $95 USD for Yolch.
MOQ 100 for all regions, with price breaks at 200 and 300, as well as 400 for Yolch only. This may not be reflected in all proxies. I will keep this post updated with numbers.
All sets will include a JTK tray unless you select the trayless option on Switchmod (saves $5). Switchmod will have limited stock of JTK trays after the group buy is completed.

So much this. I owned a set of JTK WoB for a while. The stock JTK black is a dead ringer for GMK's CR. The render provided makes it look more like N9.

Cool wasn't sure if you maybe answered on Reddit are something. The more i look at Yolch the more I want to get it for Ctrl. I just think that darker grey mixed with the yellows would look industrial and unique!. Not to mention any chance to support JTK I can. I really wish some of the bigger names would run some of there nicer sets thought JTK just for people that don't want to drop 160 bucks on keycaps

Is there any way to support a double spacebar setup with Yolch that I’m missing? Maybe the shifts if u use split left shift. Was excited when I saw split spacebar mentioned.
i thought there was an extra 2.75u shift but there is not
there is an extra 2.25u, however
i think there are some non-standard layouts that work with it, but not the standard 2.25/1.25/2.75

Sucks to say, but the polite NDA or whatever preventing you guys from sharing pictures of the improved legends is likely going to kill your GB unless you extend it for another few weeks/month after you are allowed to post them. I'm personally already on the hook for Aqua and have made peace with if it's not perfect or 90% there, but with all the FUD about legends based on history/experience of potential new/previous JTK buyers, you need to give hard evidence that all the hearsay is validated and legends quality is real.

Improved yes, but I dont think they are entirely fixed. F on the F11 looks higher than the numbers. F on the F12 looks thinner than the rest of the legend. Would def have to see it on a board for a final verdict, but it is way better than older legends.
the F11 keycap is physicall higher up than the other ones
and the f12 looks fine in the other pictures i've seen
it's not supposed to be GMK level (gmk has some issues, too) but it's definitely a vast improvement

To those who are comparing it to GMK: I would say that if they were trying to claim straight-up clone of GMK it would be a different story, but this is a different company with different molds and that is reflected in the price. At best MOQ, GMK runs at least $135-140 for base kit, plus additional kits.

RE: Yolch - There is still FUD about the color mods (Black? How black?), and if actually black then someone properly stated that it's not really a Dolch variant. I would personally get down on it if it were the more traditional warm grey color for mods.

However, being shown the keycaps in uneven lines and not in their proper row alignment means that there is no easy way to judge if the legends are higher/lower than the key next to them. Also the low-res potato pic does not give full confirmation if legends are crisp or blurry/uneven. This is pretty basic. If the caps are good, they can take the time to do it proper and remove that uncertainty. If MOQ not being met because of these questions by potential buyers, why not take the few minutes to put those to rest and gain more orders?

Little concerned about how the colours on yolch will turn out. Seems from the IC no one really knows if the mods will be absolute black or the dark grey that they look like in the render?

An update regarding Yolch colors. There was a little miscommunication.
The mods will be black, but the yellow and grey will be colormatched. This is a cost saving measure.

You never actually confirmed or stated that they would be black, there was a lot of non-committal unsure guessing.
The updates regarding mod colors being verbally confirmed as Black (not dark grey) should at least be clearly stated in the main post, if renders/mock-up cannot be updated.

Although it has killer compatibility with just one set & money is a little tight so I couldn't justify it. I think they extended the time to order to June 1st too, so fingers crossed bud!

timezones have slowed communication to a crawl. at this point we're waiting on an invoice and a bank account verification and then we should be good to go

The alphas look great. The mods look very close, but not quite there. Then again, this could be just a picture/monitor issue. The color swatches don't look much like N9 in that picture on my monitor either. ;D
i think it's a camera issue, they will send me better pics in a few days and i'll make a judgement then
i know factory lights tend to green things up a bit so we'll see

i think the color variance is due to light not it being off
getting the samples to me in person would be a big delay so i'm tempted to trust ZF (who are helping handle this) in saying that they are good

Well, I guess I'm back to where I was before: It's not possible to tell from these pics if there is a color match. I'm not saying there isn't a match and I'm not trying to nitpick. The differences in colors could be a slight mismatch in colors, it could also just be that we're comparing an R2 key to an R1 key and the light is hitting it at a slightly different angle.
I think they look good and if you trust the people you're talking to, that's good enough for me :thumb:
People early on seemed really sensitive about colors, so I'm just voicing that concern since those folks have largely disappeared from the thread.

Both sets are about halfway through production.
Yolch is next in line after Hana for sorting, and then Red Riot after that, since it is harder to sort and will take the most time.
However, there will be a delay (at least in Yolch and RR, maybe Hana), since JTK is a small operation and Buddha (who does most if not all of the work, he's great) is getting married next month.
There is no clear timeline. My educated guess is November.
It's unfortunate for us, but unavoidable.

Appreciate the update. I'm in for Red Riot and honestly have not felt the wait. I think people need to remember that most of the people running group buys in this community are fellow hobbyists and aren't full time business runners. That recognition seems to have been lost as the community has grown. As long as people get their stuff and there's good communication around delays I don't think there's a problem.
Also, chin up, plenty more fish in the sea, you're still young, etc.

My suspicion was correct, the Yolch alphas are a shade or two lighter than GMK dolch sets. I just want people waiting for extras to be aware of that.
I was told that the colors were dead on with the naked eye by ZF, evidently something changed between sampling and production. It's not aggressively bad like some other recent GBs that aren't worth naming, but it is noticeable next to GMK Dolch sets and I can understand if some people are peeved by this.
I'll have some better pictures for you tomorrow, the person who sent them to me went to bed after. I asked for comparison pics from him, so it wasn't an angry email.

Don't forget that this was going to be a GMK set first. It just cost as much as a legended GMK set, so 3x as much as it ended up being.

i'm pretty sure it's because of how their tooling works, but as far as i can tell it's doubleshot with the same color plastic for the legend and the keycap
they have a very odd tooling setup from what i can glean
they don't want to do another blank set because the sets are being sorted by hand, which, with blanks that have no profile labels, needs to be done by eye, one keycap at a time
which worries me slightly, but we'll see when the end product ships out

they don't want to do another blank set because the sets are being sorted by hand, which, with blanks that have no profile labels, needs to be done by eye, one keycap at a time
This worries me.
I trust Buddha but I'm gonna see if I can get a little QC done before they ship just in case. I suspect that it's taking so long so that he can get the profiles correct.
I support this, even if it delays shipment.

People are suspicious of their ability to offer the same keyboard for $100 less than it was less than a year ago. Perhaps they have chosen a different manufacturing facility. The biggest issue for me is the lack of communication with the community.

Sorry to trash on it, but having built 4-5 Canoes and repaired a Skog, I can confirm that their PCBs (are not good and) can behave in erratic ways. On all the Canoe PCBs, the crystal was offset by a significant amount. On one, the lighting behaved strangely, despite this all being on Bootmapper. Another one actually bricked, but the client had a replacement ready. Another big thing that confused me is the absence of split backspace support when it's so easy to do so on 65%, and it makes sense if you're going for the all 1u top row aesthetic.
While cheap, I'd avoid buying Percent boards altogether after those experiences.
I agree the PCB's they make are super trash. MY Canoe PCB the top right light just turned off out of no where i even ported it to QMK aswell no luck. I probably have to reflow some solder to get it fixed but damn i am still waiting for someone to make a good PCB for the Canoe. I agree i would look for a different custom keyboard unless you really want the design of the Canoe go ahead :). But the risks are pretty big.

Considering that if zf or jtk don't fulfill this they basically kill their reputation, I don't think we're at the point of considering giving up just yet
Here's my thought on this:
ZF has taken a lot of projects on considering their team size, and are overwhelmed. this is manifesting now in them having a bunch of delayed GBs and many confused people. JTK didn't realize how difficult it would be to make a blank set with their tooling, and as a result, that just adds to the delay. I am still confident at this point that JTK and ZF will fulfill this GB.
In case it wasn't already clear, JTK is making the sets, then sending them to ZF to send off to the other proxies.
As far as I'm aware, they currently have their share of Yolch sets (plus the EU share), and are waiting on JTK to finish Red Riot to 1) send the EU share to caps-unlocked and 2) send the US share to Switchmod so that fulfillment can be completed.
The issue, of course, is that JTK is taking a while to finish sorting the Red Riot sets, as they are all hand sorted, and do not have an easy profile guide on them. That, plus reproductions of certain keys, has led to about six months of delays.
As far as current status of Red Riot production, last I heard (about 45 days ago) there would be another 2 week delay for reproduction of some keys, plus the Chinese New Year holiday. So my educated guess is that progress should pick up sometime soon. I will send another round of messages out on Monday to see if I can get a reply. JTK's rep does read this thread, and I know he wants this to be done as much as the rest of us.
This is a new endeavor for JTK, and there was more risk involved than I thought. I figured they'd just singleshot the keys and be done with it, but apparently that's not how it works. It's been tough to get a clear explanation of the problem due to the language barrier.
And as always, if I hear news, you'll hear it too.

Here's my thought on this:
ZF has taken a lot of projects on considering their team size, and are overwhelmed. this is manifesting now in them having a bunch of delayed GBs and many confused people. JTK didn't realize how difficult it would be to make a blank set with their tooling, and as a result, that just adds to the delay. I am still confident at this point that JTK and ZF will fulfill this GB.
And as always, if I hear news, you'll hear it too.
You're so fantastic, your handling of this group buy is top notch. Definitely a good impression on someone like me who's just getting into the hobby.
I'm a little upset that I had to read this here, rather than in the actual thread for the other ZF GB I'm in, but admittedly I haven't done much digging, either. I really hope ZF values their reputation and morality enough to do whatever's right in the end for the various GBs, regardless of what happens.

it's something that's been talked about behind the scenes for a long time, but if you're new, you won't have the connections to necessarily know what's up with each and every vendor/user/designer. No harm no foul to anyone. ZF went on vacation when a bunch of stuff was about to ship (longer than normal CNY vacation) so that's why things have been so weird with them.

as far as i know Buddha (JTK's rep) dumped a decent chunk of his own personal money into making sure this project would be as good as it could be
any issues that remain are because his wallet ran dry
he is truly a saint and cares a lot about this community and his product, i would work with him again for sure, but on a less ambitious project (something more yolch speed)
i am not sure when my sets will arrive (i asked ZF about it just now) and i will be able to compare my sets to y'all's and we can see what's good

For example if you're working with a proxy who get's the parts from ZF who then commissions JTK who is responsible for the liability here? If JTK flops and doesn't refund zfrontier, I don't know if zfrontier has a policy in their terms of service where they will bite the bullet and refund everyone. then if zFrontier doesn't do that, repeat the same question for the proxies. then finally if the proxy won't take the liability go to the GB runner. if he doesn't as well, then JTK takes the reputation hit but you then also realize that there is no real protection and GBs should probably be capped at 6 months since you really are going into risky territory past paypal protection window.
A lot of the both doesn't apply to this group buy, just some general thoughts about group buys.

just a word of friendly advice, if you can pull out of those buy's. I made the mistake of staying in a buy when I should have pulled out. I lost my buyer protection from paypal and ended up getting screwed with a lot of other people. The group buy was a roller coaster from the start and it was obvious in Heine sight this was how things were going to end. As it was thought we were sent damaged products and a lot of us were not sent our full orders. I still missing a PCB I was promised and had a damaged unusable (Shattered) bottom plate. That would have been easy to find on any type of QC inspection. The best part was when the group buy runner on his discord said people that call him out in public or say anything against him would be forgotten and could forget any more support. He deleted that shortly after saying it. This same runner ran another group buy not long ago and had people throwing money at him. I hope it works out better for them then it did us.

Guess we have paypal protection for 6 months for a reason :)
If the runner is reasonable, he should at least refund, and resend an invoice to renew the paypal protection, just for a peace of mind for the buyers.

Any shade of blue DCS would be great, SP only sells complete blank DCS sets in clear at the moment, so anything with an actual tint would be better. A darker gold / yellow color would also be neat, but I might be the only guy that likes harvest gold :p

Nice thick caps. They are pretty tight and challenging to get on zeal stabilizers but nothing broke.

This is just the way JTK does their stabilized keys, at least the enter key. I checked and they are the same on my Raindrop and Yolch set.
I think the problem you are having might be related to the tight fit I was talking about.
The very first time I put the stabilized keys on they all stuck and I thought it was a bust, but once you get them pushed down on both sides a few times it works. I think it must open up the stem cutouts (it's like they are too tight at first fitting). Just my experience, but after pressing them all the way down on both sides and hearing a snap noise, they started working right. I checked the stems and they aren't cracked.

I don’t think there are marks. Each row has a unique >1u key, right? Maybe use that as a guide and view the caps from the side to check profile

i don't want to deal with JTK anymore and i don't think they want to deal with this group buy anymore\
i don't have my sets yet anyway, so i can't check and see if other keys are like that
just do the tape/plastic trick and that should solve it anyway

that just reminds me of when i did something similar with my mira and gmk soware and that snap was my stab wire popping out
