The design: 

As the Isla is my first foray into keyboard design, I’ve tried to keep things externally as simple and classy as possible. The design is heavily inspired by the OTD Koala as some of you may notice, featuring its signature side profile and uniform bezels. As for the name, there’s not really a story; it’s named after someone I knew when I was younger.

Status:

Final prototyping round on hand. Awaiting a few components for testing before proceeding to group buy phase, tentatively late July.

Changelog between final prototype and production:

- slightly larger JST channel
- slightly larger tolerances with plate and PCB against case
- tighter bump-on cutouts
- minor internal tweaks

A: No, the design isn't able to accommodate these

Q: Will this be compatible with other PCBs? 
A: The design is based around the h60, and the design requires some of the cuts seen on there

1.25mm from the end of the daughterboard to the case edge, and a further 5mm from there to the outer face of the case

Regarding a sound test, I won’t be recording any with this proto. However, with the final proto I’ll do one myself or perhaps ask Jae (who has far superior recording equipment) to do a build stream.

Thank you all for the kind words! I'll update when the second prototype has been ordered. As for pricing, I've had a lot of people ask but I'd rather not give an estimate right now until quotes are received and we figure out logistics.

Nothing confirmed quite yet (this'll happen closer to the GB) but from the poll I posted:

~ 37% PC
~ 30% Brass
~ 23% FR4
~ 10% Others (CF, various plastics)

Right now it's looking like a polycarbonate plate will be offered, though as I said this may be subject to change.

Will the tray mount posts be removable (similar to the newer rounds of Mekanisk boards) or fixed? I am really interested in this mounting style but wonder how it would work with the posts. Wouldn't the plate just sit up against those posts and keep it from flexing? Please correct me if I am wrong. I know the Unikorn also does this but it's always confused me how it would work with fixed posts.

Also will this require snap in stabs or have you found a way to use screw in stabs without interfering with the O-ring?

I am very interested in this board. This mounting style intrigues me but unfortunately I lost on the raffle for the Moontower and Ogre.

To answer your first question, besides the optional screws, the only contact with the case is the gasket resting on the outer posts. Instead of the PCB being directly on the tray posts, it's held in place by the gasket - the tray 'posts' barely come up off the bottom of the case. So, the tray posts are indeed fixed but it makes no difference.

You will need a snap-in stab for 2u backspace (and possibly spacebar, though I can test this with the next proto), however I believe the rest of the stabilisers can be screw-in.
