Title: I made a boo boo ordering keycaps
Post by: KLT on Thu, 05 December 2019, 16:29:25
Working on my third keyboard... First being a logitech Orion G810, second massdrop alt,.... now third

So first boo boo: I ordered TaiHao Red Alert keycaps (red on left/right, white lettered keys)
Build: Burgundy Tofu 65% with dz65 rgb PCB (because hotswap rgb)
Reasoning: They were the only ones I could find at the time that was backlit, and had the color layout I wanted. (red/white)
Second boo boo: I failed to see there are three 1U keys to the right of the spacebar.  (I thought there would be 2 1.25U keys) Hence I'm missing 3 1U keys...

Anyone know where to find equivalent red colored as the red alert, hopefully backlit, keys (even if blank)?
My other option would be to get a whole nother keycap set....  :-\

p.s. This being my first post.  Hopefully I posted this right.
Also, this place is an information rabbit hole. I've not seen light for the past week.

From what i know is that TaoHao doesn't really make small child kits other then international. You can rebuild and swap the PCB to a KBD65 Rev2. Don't get rev1 those don't seem to be compatible. The rev2 does support the layout you want.

Thank you for the reply.  I am however looking to not solder... hence why I'm more so looking for a premade board (rgb hotswap) or just single keycaps.
I'm currently checking out some flat keycaps to possibly fill the void in my key spaces over at pimpmykeyboard.
I think this would be an acceptable alternative too. Wouldn't look to shabby if it pulls off just right... also not sure about quality on their products, and not sure on fitting
My current switches: Zilents v2

I'm very new to this so i'm taking baby steps.  I don't have a soldering setup yet but do think i'll take those steps someday.
but thank you for the information none the less!

Pimp my keyboard is signature plastic one of the highest quality key caps, also mixing key cap profiles will look ugly imo.

That said.
I've forgone the thought of flat key caps.  I'll suck it up to money lost, and order the single keycaps.
Consider this man sold.

Thanks for holding my hand through this ordeal. :thumb:
