Update news: about invoice, payment deadline, and delivery date

Hello, everyone

The GB is coming to end very soon. We appreciate to all the participants. Thank you very much for all of you.

As this GB is with plenty of purchase optional, so the orders we received are very complex, beyond our expectations. What' more, we find that some orders needed to be confirmed before invoice out, in order to avoid those perhaps mistaken purchase.

So we decided to spend 3 days to sort out orders, confirm some orders by email( for those necessary, we think.), and then send invoice out. Please pay attention to check your email box these 3 days.

So the GB timeline will be changed a little:

September 15 - Group buy closes
September 16-18: sort out orders, confirm orders (for those orders with necessary), and then invoice go out
September 21 - Payment deadline
October 9 - Estimated start of delivery date, and all the orders will be shipped out in one week.

Sorry for the 3 days delay, but we hope to do better for this GB.

Any question, please PM me, or leave message
Here (http://www.pc-100.com/contact-us/)

Thanks again for all of you!

Of course, buy one keyboard is welcome.
I just want to say if someone buy 10pcs, can get a distributor's discount.
Sorry,  make you misunderstand.

I'll ask here since the IC was locked:

For iGK61, iGK61p and iGK62, whether you choose plastic or metal case, the positioning plate is printed white.
For iGK64, whether you choose plastic or metal case, the positioning plate is anodized silver.

Not sure what plastic it is on the 61 version? but it is possible to have an alu option since it is a standard ansi and any 60% alu will work

The 61 and 61p has the holes to support standard 60% cases standoffs, like the GH60 or XD60?  Am i right? (seems like yes from the pics but would like a confirmation)

Im interested in the optical IGK61p, could you tell us which orientation the switches are facing? Is the switch logo upside down or level? I'm asking this because I usually use cherry profile keycaps.

Also, since it's optical and 1000hz, the latency should be pretty low right?

The plate for 61 and 62  are all steel ( Not plastic) with  sprayed white paint. It looks quite good.

Our PCB is with USB type C connector, but on the marketing nearly all the 60% PCB is not with type C connector, so maybe our PCB can't fit the standard 60% case perfectly.

Ok awesome. One more question are these optical switches compatible with zealencios? (that is the silencing clips you put over the switch to dampen sound)

And could you do the trampoline mod to dampen the bottom out or is it different inside since it's optical?

For the trampoline mode i'm pretty sure you can't, mainly because there should be 2 holes where you put the silicone part.

What program do we use for programming our own layout though?

iGK6x series keyboards are with our distinctive visual smart driver software.

Before running the driver software, you must connect your iGK6X keyboard with your PC. iGK6X software will detect keyboard device automatically. If no keyboard, you will see nothing about the driver software.
We are improving the software ( both in English translation and friendly UI). If you buy one keyboard in this GB, when you receive it, you can come to our website pc-100.com to download the the latest driver software.

Now on our website there is  driver software manual (http://www.pc-100.com/downloads-mechanical-keyboard/),  you can download it for some reference.

When you need to build new configurations ( such as remap keys, programming your own layout, build macro, customize hotkeys...custom every key's individual color, DIY lighting effects...), you can run the software. And after that , you needn't run the software any more, all the new configurations can be stored in the keyboard, you can use these new configurations at any PC, any where.

Got mine today too! First impression that seems like a nice board especially at that price! I got mine preassembled with the plastic case surprisingly no flex at all and it has some cool angles and a subtle mix of glossy parts just enough to make it lok interesting (goes perfect with my G Pro mouse too). The RGB glows nicely with the white plate. I'm not disapointed, many thanks, appreciated the professionalism.  ;)

Quick question, is it programmable or not? If so where are the instructions or software?

So here is my experience with a full 2 hrs in hand.  So... simply first impressions.  I bought the DIY kit with all of the offered parts except switches/caps.

I have built 9 custom keyboards in the past, and have modified 6 or 7 others.  This will be the first time I have tried hotswap sockets.

Case:
The case is the same form as the plastic ones you can order for cheap from ebay and aliexpress.  You can read up on reviews of those if you have more question.  Nice, cheap case.  Me likey.

It has an interesting mounting system, and I assume it is because of the hotswap sockets.  The PCB actually screws to the plate (on the back of the PCB) and then you screw through the plate into the case.  The case has 7 or so tall plastic bits that protrude up through the PCB and meet the plate.  Intersting that they did it this way but still left all 6 standard mounting holes for 60% baords.

One negative about this case is the screws.  As is often the case when screwing into plastic, the holes are very tight and take a lot of careful turning to fully tighten (so as not to strip the screws).  My hand still hurts b/c my precision screwdrivers don't have nice cushy handles :(

Included Cable
My first time to use USB-C on a board.  Nice to not have to look which way to plug it in.  I got what looks to be a 5ft USB-C cable that is black with braided fabric covering it for something like $1.  Can't beat that.

PCB compatibility
The PCB is actually compatible with other 60% cases.  Now... not ALL of them because it is just a little to large on edges to fit in a pok3r case.  However, it fit in my wooden case that I bought from Aliexpress.  The only clearance issue with mounts is that the hotswap sockets could interfere slightly with the center screwdown.  I was lucky to have it fit down exactly in the wooden case, but YMMV.

Stabilizers
The plate mounted stabilizers are very good.  They sound much better than the ones in my pok3er boards.  (Those are my only reference for plate mount).  I'm pretty picky about my stabilizers, and these are good.  I notice a very slight rattle on the enter key but I haven't lubed them yet.

For some strange reason, they have cutouts on the board for PCB stabilizers everywhere EXCEPT the left shift.  I would recommend they fix that in the next version for people who wish to buy this as a DIY part.

The hotswap sockets
These are awesome.  They are using the new Kailh sockets, and they are ingenious.  Mine had a few that were only soldered on one side.  These are surface mount pieices, so they just have a slight bit of solder below the hotswap arms.  Looks like they didn't get a few of them secured.

When you push the switches through the board, the hotswap plugs will push out if not properly soldered in.  In my case, after loading up the board with switches, I had 3 not working.  I was able to fix the issue by taking the board out of the case and pressing them back against the solder points. I checked and noticed that one arm of the socket was not soldered on those three switches.

None of this is an issue for me because I have a soldering iron and the knowledge/experience to fix it.  I just resoldered the affected arms and all is well now.  However, this could be a big deal for someone without equipment or knowledge of how to fix it.  I might suggest more QC checks on those solder points. Maybe I got random bad luck.  Still, no biggie for people who know how to use a soldering iron.

RGB backlighting
The lighting is vivid.  I haven't gotten into the software to mess around with colors yet. I couldn't get the software to see the keyboard hooked up through a usb hub, but once I got it directly connected to my computer all was good.  The software is a ton of fun.  The lighting is going to keep me busy for a long time.  Cool stuff indeed.

Programming
I'm not so sure programmable keys.  It seems that you can only change a key, not actually add a function layer. So for this reason, I will say the programmability of this keyboard is completely useless.  Yes, it supports media functions and arrow keys and such, but you can only assign them to a key, remapping the key.  Who would ever do or need such a thing?  I was hoping to find a way to set a function key but I'm just not seeing it.  You will have to use autohotkey to actually program arrow keys and such on this keyboard if you don't like the default function layer

I had one led not working when I first plugged it in.  Touch a soldering iron to all 4 legs on it to reheat the solder and now it works.  Again, no big deal to someone with equipment, but not great QC.  All you had to do was plug in the cable to see it wasn't working.

My overall impression is that this is respectable.  It's not perfect, but it's nice, especially if you don't need custom function layers. For the price I paid... it's a good deal.  Happy with my purchase.  I plan to use this board to try all of the switches I have sitting around.  I have 67g zealios in it at the moment. Very nice, but I'm about to swap it out with 62g and see which I like better.

If this was my only board, I would very much be missing the ability to control media and volume with a Fn+key command.  Again, as far as I can tell, this board only allows you to remap keys, not program function layers.

I have 5 or 6 switch tester plates around, but I can't ever get the full effect until they are on a real working board.  This is perfect for that job!

Okay, first of all, I can't seem to get the software to see my keyboard.  Surely there is a fix for this.

EDIT-- figured out I had to plug directly into the PC.  I was using a USB hub and it didn't see the keyboard through it. Now to find a longer USB-C cable  :(

Also, a little random, but there is a microphone on the PCB.  I couldn't figure out what it was when I first looked at it, but then I tried the "music" mode and realized it was actually listening to the sounds in the room, not what was coming from the computer.  Weird.  I mean, I'm not a conspiracy theory kinda guy, but having a microphone installed on my keyboard makes me a big uncomfortable.

Got mine yesterday.  I got the iGK61 with metal case, and so far I'm impressed.  I'm running linux, though, and can't get the driver software to run under wine.  Does the driver software need to be running all the time, or just when you want to change something?  And does anybody know if there are key combinations that let you change the behavior of the board without the driver software running?  I stumbled on some: like Fn+w seems to put you into a different layer where the arrow keys are on.

Switches pop in easily, and the PCB accepts PCB-mount or plate-mount switches.  LEDs are indeed vivid as the previous poster said.  I have zealios on, though, which have a clear housing.  You probably would not get as much light through with an opaque housing.  I probably will turn them off though as I'm not partial to LEDs - mostly bought this sucker for the hot-swap capability.

EDIT:  Duh, the key combinations are in the technical specifications document linked in the first post above.  You can't change the mapping without the software, but it looks from the docs like you only have to change it once and then don't need the driver software to be running after that for your custom layout to be active.

EDIT 2:  Okay I played around with the driver software on a windows machine.  There doesn't seem to be a way to change the "Fn" key to be a different one, it wants to stay the bottom right key.  Also don't see a way to make Fn+WASD keys the arrows instead of the default.  Also, when I switch the keyboard to a different computer, the changes I made are not saved - it seems you do have to have the driver software running for the changes to persist.  Sadly this all means I won't get much use out of this board except possibly as a switch tester.

Yes, you can edit the "offline" modes in the software and they will still work without the app running in the background.  However, you can't really program anything as far as I can tell.  The product said fully programmable, but I think the proper terminology would have been fully re-mappable.  You cannot change those built in function mappings, and you cannot add more.  You can make it so that pressing a key sends a different keystroke or macro, but I honestly fail to see the usefulness of such functionality.

I think most people use custom function layers and not custom layers.  You can program a layer to do what you want like page up, page down, arrow cluster, media controls... but you have to actually be ON that layer to use it.  This requires hitting the Fn key and the layer (q=1, w=2, e=3, r=4).  Once on that layer you can then use the newly programmed key.

So, if i wanted to use media keys on (W,A,S,D) and still be able to type, I would hop over to layer 2 and remap those keys to play/pause, vol+, vol-, etc...

If I wanted to turn the volume down, I would have to press Function+w and then press my keybind for vol- and then press Function+q to return to the main layer.  No one would ever do this.  It's silly.  You would expect that you could program it so that pressing Fn + S could turn the volume down.  Or that Function + H could be home.  No such luck.

There are a few options like this in their default Function layers that aren't too bad, but no media keys.

I just programmed everything with autohotkey so that it worked like all of my other boards.  I'm a happy camper and the zealios feel great.

Okay I get how it works now.  Yeah I guess I would have to remap everything in my OS to make it usable, cannibalizing the Menu key for the equivalent of "Fn".  Not ideal, and of course not readily portable to other computers.  Too bad, the board has some really excellent features but lacks a basic necessity that pretty much every 60% user wants.  Hopefully they (or someone) will release a new version of the software that gives more flexibility.  Until then it's a switch tester for me.

http://www.pc-100.com/downloads-mechanical-keyboard/   there is the software and instructions.

thx! Unfortunately it does not seem possible to rebind FN.
It bother me a little bit not having this option since I usually prefer having FN in place of cap lock and the arrows on wasd, stuff like that for one-handed ease of use.
I hope eventually the software will allow for that in the future.

Or did I just not see how to do it?  :)

No, I don’t think it’s possible.  I’m using autohotkey to map caplocks to my function key but I am also enjoying their default functions as well.

Having the ability to write it directly on the board itself would be nice to have

Edit: I got both browns and silvers to test and damn the optical linears are the smoothest feeling Ive ever seen, so nice! (even better when lubed)
This is probably because of the fact that they don't have the metal contact leaf, so there is only the spring no metal leaf friction.
Funnily enough the stems still have the pegs to slide on the metal leaf, I could clip them off with no effect.
The browns of course still need to have the metal leaf in order to have the tactile bump though.

Hello,

Thank you very much for all of you feedback.

Regarding "Fn key":

"Fn" combined keys are not programmable on our keyboard now. We will study and assess it. It needs to change the firmware of the keyboard. If we realized this function, our users may update their keyboards' firmware. We will try to realize this function, but we can't declare a schedule timeline for it yet.

Thanks!  Yes a firmware update to allow Fn + key programming would be an immense improvement. Really like my board.  It is very nice to have the hot swap and I enjoy the rgb leds.

Hello, according to the feedback from the community, we are doing this working - program function layers: at the "W"  "E"  "R" 3 programmable layers,  "Fn" combined keys can be programmable.  After finished this working, we will release update firmware and software.

Excuse me, "some cunning codemonkeys working on this"?  I am not very clearly about what you mean. Would you please explain it more details? If possible, we'd like to realize some special functions to fit some special person's or some special job's needs. Thank you.

Received my iGK64, and like the rest of you was disappointed to see that the iGK does not support remapping of the Fn key, and also does not support any kind of function layer - only remapping and macro programming.

I'm on Windows so I'll be trying TouchCursor to achieve what I want, but i really wanted this to work at the keyboard level.

ingeniousmonkey, I look forward to firmware and driver updates

Or any other options/suggestions for me. TIA ;D

Edit: My question is, if i swap in a kailh box switch i wont have any problem with the rgb lighting of the kit?

Also im from Philippines, which i think epacket still does not support shipping, what courier will shoulder my order if i choose the economic shipping.

Does anyone know if it is possible to make a light effect combining several effects together? I'm trying to make a rgb looping with breathing at the same time, a smooth gradient that also breath in and out X number of times during the color cycle.

I've tried something like this but it doesn't work
(https://i.imgur.com/emAQQx3.jpg)
idea was:
120 frames total

I received my "Kit" as a fully assembled keyboard last night. Works great, and I love weight and feel of the aluminum case.

Why is there no way to rebind FN (or anything) on the base layer? On the Fn1 layer you can't use the dynamic light modes or change light mode you're stuck with a single one

Profiles and layers should be two different things, otherwise cant press FN without changing the light mode every single time, cant have dynamic lights on custom FN1, FN2 and only a single one, also probably less bugs.

Hello, please leave message on our website, tell us your problem details, thus we can give you some help.

I did. No answer after a couple weeks. I'm soon giving up on this board. I was considering getting a replacement PCB and metal case and more switches but not anymore I mean it's nice to have added the feature we asked but (at least for me) it doesnt work at all, yes nobody else commented maybe it's just me but who knows maybe it's because the other who also wanted FN rebind already moved on.

Hello, we are in our Chinese New Year  vacation now, so probably reply you a little late, sorry for it.
Some explanations for our iGK6X keyboards:
1)Currently, no settings can be changed in standard mode (so called "base layer").
2)In offline mode 1,2,3, users may set responding effect for each keys. The 5 playing light effects can only be set for standard mode and can not be played in offline mode 1,2,3. Users may enjoy playing the 5 light effects ("Fn" + "]}") in standard mode and we think it's not necessary to play the 5 light effects in every offline modes, the other reason of not playing 5 light effects in offline modes is that they may mix and confuse with the responding light effects set in the offline layer.

yeah the fn layer remap is actually terrible, im considering to either sell it or just keep it as a tester board at this point, it is really hard to remap the keys to what i need to use daily.

Hello, we are in our Chinese New Year  vacation now

my bad forgot about that but do you know why I get "applying failed!" all the time?

yeah the fn layer remap is actually terrible

if you want a truely programmable board better look somewhere else

because
- Q, E, R or F (taken for profiles) light up white and can't remap them
- the light mode changes
- applying changes is bugged

Possible way to fix:
- make base layer customizable and FN layers not change light mode when activated,
- fix "apply fail!" and FnX bug

other than that great service and board

With new keycaps I notice the color wave is actually just a few key blobs cycling color at different intervals (7 blobs, same for windmill btw)

-----the updated firmware had changed this.

"apply fail!"
-----This means may be the driver software is newer than the firmware, you may download the new firmware from our website and update your firmware to fit for the new driver software.

Interesting new items. Does the 61key Bluetooth board also have some RGB lights underneath to provide underglow on the polycarbonate case?  I think it said the 64 did but I can’t find it mentioned on the 61.

I want to purchase a polycarbonate case, fiberglass plate (with gateron stabilizers) and Bluetooth 61key pcb. I don’t see that option as a package anywhere.  Do I just buy them individually?

Hello,

Sorry, by now, 61 don't have  some RGB lights underneath to provide underglow on the polycarbonate case. If you like this kind of item, probably you only can choose 64 kit from here: https://www.epathbuy.com/product/gk64s-wireless-modular-keyboard-kit-built-2019-arris-semitransparent-polycarb-case-igk64s-bt-kit18/

Pretty nice boards.  The software isn't perfect, but it does the job.  Really a good value, overall.
