the Blue kit looks awesome but it's a huge shame that there's no support beyond the base
Will you be using the same pink from the last 8008 or will it be re-done for this run?they say it was already matched in r1 so its the same

hi will this pink match the advertised renders this time
thank you

I have mixed feelings about the proposed changes. While I don't use mod-colored pipe or grave, I think it's a step in the wrong direction to take those two keys out in favor of the additions. I think they are absolutely necessary to include in the base kit. As much as would like to have Alice support, I wouldn't want to achieve that support by taking out two keys that have been included in most base kits for a while now.
Even with the proposed changes to include Alice support, I maintain that I would love to see numpad + basic iso in the base kit. In a perfect world I would have wanted to have seen a comparison of prices of the current base kit vs. a full base kit. I'm sure this is not feasible at this point but I would be really curious to see how people felt about paying a little bit more for a fleshed out kit. A full base kit would have also given people the opportunity to run the blue kit on more boards, since it seems iso and numpad are not supported in that color.
Quick kitting error, right shift on the kits is labeled 2.25u when it should be (I'm hoping LOL) 1.75u.
Also, was the blue set inspired from a blue sports bra? ;D
So if no color matching is happening, can I assume the blue will be just as dull IRL as the pink was versus the render?
mod color pipe and grave are pretty universally decided to be uggo by what appears to me to be the majority of people, i rarely see them used in pictures if everYes I agree they are uggo. The main point I guess I was trying to make is stripping down kits even more isn't the answer imho.
it was a big deal to me when i was new and didn't know what i liked but even then it's a stretch, sets have been omitting them for a while and it's barely even been noticed
So if no color matching is happening, can I assume the blue will be just as dull IRL as the pink was versus the render?
The renders above reflect the colors IRL.

So the pink is already matched from R1, but it looks nothing like the renders from R1 or R2. How come?

The renders in this post are matched directly to the real-life caps.
R1 renders were estimations on how the colors would come out because the caps did not yet exist. They were not perfectly representative of the colors, nor the real-life caps in the end because it was just an estimation. We have learned a lot from this experience and how to better succeed in renders. This was 15 months ago as well. We love how the colors came out in R1, and they were what we wanted from the beginning (besides the pink not being able to reach the full vibrancy we wanted, but we were still very happy with the set as a collective design with the pink that we used).
R2 we were able to better represent the colors in the renders because we have a real-life product to match them to. The physical samples (actual keys from 8008 R1) have been matched with a colour calibrated monitor and the renders in this post are representative of what you will get. We spent many hours tweaking these renders to be the best representation of the real-life product. Do not trust photos you see of this product. The colors of 8008 have proven to be very difficult to represent in a photo. We did the best we could to create as color correct renders as we could for this round.
Also, missed opportunity to name it 80085 or 8008135.

Enjoy the new color option. The new kit with alice support in the base would be nice, wish there was a way to get the mods for the new color option without needing to pay for a full base kit.
Desk Hero has been added as a Canadian vendor!
My disappointment with r1 was it was more of a salmon pink than hot pink. If r2 isn't going to fix that then idk
Ohhh, but what happened to the X accent keys even in the novelties? I like them on the previous run, so much character, will they be included??Yess, I feel the same. Hope he includes them in the modern kit or better the standard kit
Really prefer mod color grave (`~) when using HHKB layout or WKL layout with split backspace (cause it's more symmetric), and I also want ergo support on the base kit (yeah I wish I can have both).
As someone who does not care about nubbed homing keys, my ideal world is removing nubbed homing keys and bringing back mod color grave in package B.
Round 2 + 8L00 looking solid
+1 for 8L00 modern/aesthetics kit

Thanks for asking the consumers what they would like to see and for considering feedback.
Also is there a chance of bringing the Dixie "X" caps back (maybe as an extra)?

I'm with you. Alice support is nice, but not at the expense of Mod pipe.
Also, I was in R1 and was disappointed in the way it turned out. Ended up selling immediately. No way I would buy the pink kit if there aren't color changes coming. Now I have to decide if I'm willing to chance on blue... cause I'm a sucker for blue.
Additionally, I think it would be good to see numpad and/or physical iso in base with the localised legends in NordeUK kit.
Finally I think the blue kit should be more expansive, covering numpad and physical iso, as there are no child kits for it.

I'm in the same boat (would prefer mod color grave + ergo support). +1 for removing the nubbed homing keys.

I guess instead of telling people to calibrate their monitors vendors can simply lie now.

Hi, have you seen gmk 8008 IRL? Because most pictures don't to this set justice. A lot of people use artificial light (which is mostly 'warmer' of colour, so more yellow-ish). That is also the case in the picture you included.
I am typing on gmk 8008 right now and honestly i can say that i am very satisfied with the colour matching (except for the rama keycap but that is a different story)
for the RAMAWORKS collabe I would love to get the XO caps with pink actent on black and bleue accent on black. simple and effitient.

This is also my main concern. I really like the more vibrant pink. When the info says color matched R1 does that mean it changed it to look more like the render, or just matched the orginal color R1 delivered??
Damn. Just ordered Redline as my first set. Also waiting on Superuser so not sure I can justify this one which is a real shame.
There seems to be a lot of discussion about the colour matching of the pink in this set. What was the issue exactly? That the final product didn't have the vibrancy of the concepts? Wondering how people who actually bought this in R1 felt about this. Was it a disappointment? Because as someone new to all this- the vibrancy of that rendered pink against the greys is what really got me interested in this set. And (what I'm reading) may be tweaked 'beauty shots' of the set on peoples' desks. Is this a common problem with key sets generally or is this an isolated case? Do most live up to their renders?
Please add a modern set for bloo! This looks incredible.
Ohhh, but what happened to the X accent keys even in the novelties? I like them on the previous run, so much character, will they be included??
Nice boob! I mean 8008..
can we have row 5 and rename the set to 80085
Quick question; will the Norde, modern, astetic kit etc also be available in blue? I don’t see any blue renderings for it.
Still so disappointed in the pink from R1. It was not true to the renders at all and I found it very dull even under multiple light conditions. Sad to see it not changed to be more vibrant. The blue looks nice with the alphas which I did like from R1. Sadly the main draw here was the pink and because of that for me this can only be Tombstone frozen pizza.
Dixie stays re-releasing his sets. Next month will be Dracula R2 or 9009 r4
In the end, we decided to just give EVERYONE what they wanted plus a little more.
you can do better

no you didn't
why would anybody want a lift pink side to go with their r1 they're just gonna be stuck with 20 duplicate keys
people were asking for blue only mods to go with their r1
on top of that you're still running the subpar color despite numerous complaints
people want to see a better product, you can do better

I think going with the R1 pink is a good decision. [...]

The proposed course of action here would be to (after fixing row numbers):More info on the last point can be found here (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=90706.msg2894820#msg2894820). Basically, make it the same as in GMK Redline (https://i.imgur.com/n3NGmP7.png).
- Move R4 #~ to R3.
- Change R1 `¬ to `¬¦.
- Change R1 5%€ to 4$€.
- In Addition, change R4 \| to <>.
This set of changes doesn't involve adding or removing any keys, nor changing their sizes, so it should be good to go despite the kits being finalized. In other words, it doesn't require a requote from GMK, it just needs to be communicated to them further down the line. Which shouldn't be a problem for Dixie by any means. :)
oh it's so sad that the Pink "X" is now turned to a Rama novelty when the first run had included it in the kiting for accent, i guess it's a pass for me :(
Oh, this is totally my mistake on copying and pasting the row labels from another kit and not adjusting them. Thank you for bringing this up!
As usual, I appreciate your comments.

Please do not remove 5%€ it is used in Swedish layout. Both 4$ and 5% are in base, so why would you change one for another?

Why are there extra F, J and B keycaps on the standard kit?F and J without the bumps
I cannot tell the difference ahahaha....
