Geekhackers,

Melissa from SP does a lot for our community.  It wouldn't take very many of us chipping in to get her a really nice thank-you gift.  Who's in?  And what should we get her?

I get the feeling that SP would go under if it wasn't for GH.

I'm thinking something like a $50 or $100 gift card to her favorite local Spa treatment.  I work with all women, and they like that kind of crap.  I've got my $5.00 here.

Technically hes not a vendor; Clickclack's caps are more like art done on a retail-scale. Sort of like Etsy stuff.

Technically the only Vendor in that love triangle would be EK.

ClickClack manufactures his keys.
Signature Plastics manufactures all sorts of plastic goodies, including keys.
EliteKeyboards sells other people's stuff.

Therefore, taking a ClickClack as a gift would be taking the manufactured item, which SP cannot and does not make and therefore would be outside of the scope of a "conflict".

BOOOOOOOOOM Headshot.

A conflict is something that occurs in the merchandise world when a member of a company wears/uses/owns an item which is identical or close to one produced by a competitor. This, however, would not be occurring if a ClickClack were bought/given to an SP employee because neither company/group makes like-items.

I don't understand the continuous corrections without consideration of context.  I never claimed there was a conflict, nor that ClickClack was a vendor. You can only get ClackFactory caps from EliteKeyboards (new) so Elitekeyboards IS the implied vendor.

Thanks for trying, but you aren't using metaphors effectively.

Just to play devil's advocate here, but why not get something keyboard related? This is Geekhack after all, what else are we even remotely qualified to deal with? Besides, SP employees don't necessarily get a nice board to use. Just because they manufacture keycaps doesn't mean their IT dept goes around dropping three figure boards at every work station. They're probably all using some $15 cheapy that was bundled with their PCs. Someone nonchalantly ask. And then send over a Leo so they start making caps for it.

No - I was just getting quotes for sphericals of the same SVGs and decided to not proceed until it got all cleared up.

That was....I dunno.... 6 months ago?

I thought six months ago was when everything shipped for GB3?

Either way, I now have to babysit my order to make sure we don't end up with the backwards version of LoD and it has to be done WITHOUT test prints because she quoted me $65 for those.

Hmm...I suck at photoshop so maybe someone can make a design in my stead.  Why not give her something material PLUS a placard for her wall...we could take a piece of brass and have it etched with a keyboard saying something silly like "Melissa, thank you for all the help! - the members of geekhack.org" she could hang it in her office so that everytime she sees it she will be reminded of us freaks^^.

Something like this: http://www.premier-engraving.co.uk/engraved-brass-plaques.html

we would have to find an engraver in the states I think. Id be in with 5$ for sure.
