At this point, I have no more desire in this keyboard anymore.
I hope kin25 will get back to us before he proceeds.
I don't want the assembly service and the extras. Might even pass the whole order to someone else.

I'd be interested in your order once you receive the goods.
We might be able to work something out.

But kin isn't. I'm salty and I only ordered caps. At least it was only $40.

Kin stole our money. It is as simple as that.

If he has any sense of morality, especially since he's an educator and a role model for his pupils, then he should definitely communicate and give us back our money. If he gives it back, we can forgive him and move on.

Yes he's completely done with TX1800, and has the aluminum in his office or storage location. He just needs to actually sell it to us, even if they are flawed units, or give us a full refund on our deposits, which he has not.

This GB is over. I would be disillusioned to say otherwise, and just want my money back.

For all TX1800 buyers,

As a friend of Kin25's wife, recently I get some information of TX1800's production difficulties.

The holes on the framework seems a little bit smaller than expectation, and if he ships as it he gonna worry about the screws fitting problem that may occur. So he ordered some screw nuts and trying to fix this defect by himself, just want to give all of you guys a perfect board.

here I just want say sorry for the delay of this GB and I appreciate all of your patience here for supporting the GB. Kin25 has a job in daytime and he does all the GB work in his spare time so please understand.

Shipping confirmation work will starts before march, he needs to confirm with several buyer for their imperfect product(but still better than most of the korean board made before), whether they still want the board.

Estimate shipping in late march.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the update.

Two things:
1) if he has problems, the first thing he should have done is communicate it to us GB supporters.

2) he is still not posting in this thread.

I'll believe it when I see it

I do appreciate the update though, we'll see how that pans out.

I'm totally not in this buy but I'm just curious if kin comes back and says there are issues but you can still pay him $XXX.XX or whatever is left to get your stuff how many people are willing to do that given this buys current history?

Also did people who just ordered parts and pieces ever get there stuff? I'd like to some of those switch openers if someone has a set.

I am not in this buy either but this thread was dead. I am trying to bring back to light an issue that people should be concerned about. If he posts himself about any issues/updates then fine we know at least something is happening. Instead we have new fairly "low post accounts" claiming they spoke to his "wife". Not only is the guy posting on kbdlab and discussing new projects hes working on. Clearly things are moving forward for him.

Believe it or not.

I won't post any other things or reply to any msg related to TX1800 in the future.

Just want you guys know, this is a community not a real market. I used to be in several GB which lasts more than one year, but finally everything is OK. Be patient or don't come in at first.

YES and as a community there is "NORMALLY" constant updates and information coming from the organizer but alas NOT HERE.

Have no idea who you are and if you're connected in anyway BUT we need Kin25 telling us this and not anyone else.  The only decency left for Kin25 is to actually post something here instead of getting other people to front him here on GH.

But we see the real aspect of this person here over time, someone that sadly lacks any REAL backbone or common courtesy which most Korean organizers do have.

As someone who deals with the Korean culture fairly regularly I can tell you going MIA is not a common practice. Their society is based on respect and good intentions. So for someone to not communicate regularly is a big sign of something fishy. Sorry guys, don't hold your breath. Maybe one day a mystery box will show up at your door.

I'm taking a step back here and not speaking as a moderator, but as a consumer. Let's look at some examples of buys that have encountered issues.

Ctrl Alt: let's face it, their buys in recent memory have gone far from without a hitch, but bunny, tym, and Cody have all been here to face the brunt of it, been very open, and completely honest about the issues they've faced and have gained a lot of loyalty because of it. Am I certain that they still will have issues now and then? Completely, but at the same time, they are learning from their mistakes and remaining transparent about thing.

CF LX: once again, setbacks galore, but any time a question of status comes up, once again, hwood is right there to answer and give any kind of status update.

Electric bluegaloo: life happens, and this was a perfect example. Billnye had exams, and product on hand...once again, updates at all times and no issues with answering questions.

Sprit: disappears for chunks of time, but has ultimately shipped orders. Has some outstanding order, does not update often, but orders still show up now and then.

Then we come to this buy...where the only thing that has resulted is frustration, a complete lack of transparency, desertion, and trickling updates through the grapevine while kin continues conducting business elsewhere. If anything, this has completely shifted my trust as well as some others from both new users (which is a complete shame because some new users legitimately have a lot to offer) as well as the Korean community, especially when you group this in with the Druger incident which this has inevitably mirrored. At this point, regardless of updates and where they're coming from, I'm convinced I will never see this board, and there is no circumstance in which I will be giving Kin more of my money to be jerked around like this. This was the one thing I was looking forward to receiving last year, and it ultimately became the biggest disappointment of 2015 and the biggest waste of money.

P.s. ignore any grammar/typing mistakes as I'm on mobile

I don't want to pick nits, exitfire, but you are giving Sprit way too much credit.
I'm on month 26 or 27 since I placed my order with him and haven't heard anything from him directly for about a year.

But that's neither here nor there.

I'm in this order too, and they're both write-offs for me.
I've already passed on a couple group buys I would otherwise have joined because of this.
Only going with ~5k+ post users from now on, which is a shame because there is some good stuff and buys that could use the support and numbers.

It's a shame.

As I said, there are still orders trickling in, but I by no means am saying that he's in a much better place than Kin in my book. Fact of the matter is though, he has fulfilled SOME orders.

I am really torn about replying into this thread because I didn't join the GB and I don't want to be the peanut gallery but.....

Wow, talk about adding insult to injury.  Kin takes the community's money, absconds, doesn't post updates, starts new projects in other communities and then sends the friend of his wife (?) to GH to give "updates".

    Granted, that "update" says:
    • This isn't a real market, if you don't like shady business practices, tough cookies
    • You should be okay with this delay in a GB because (anecdotally and unrelated to the GB at hand) others have waited this long and received their merchandise
    • I'm not providing any more updates, even though I'm the only ambassador for this GB and the organizer has disappeared

I'm not trying to attack frostylove at all.  (In fact, I almost feel bad because frostylove is just the messenger.)  But I am pretty flabbergasted by the way this GB has been run and by the lack of culpability from Kin.  This is an example of how not to run a GB and it's really sad because, as exitfire pointed out, buys like this really harm community confidence.  I really hope that folks who participated in this GB are able to recoup their funds.

I'm surprised that GH and other major KB forums (DT, kbdlab) haven't banded together to build a blacklist of known-bad actors.  Or is this a thing and I just don't know about it?[/list]

For me personally, despite his atrocious Group Buy run here on GH, I would still be willing to pay out my order in the hope of receiving my TX1800 (yes I am a pathetic 1800 addict, even after all this).

This time when I do make another payment, he shall have ONLY 179 days to deliver this keyboard to my address before I make a claim against him.  There will be no second bite of the apple here because I want Paypal to hunt him down and render him like he deserves if nothing is delivered.

If he is real about supplying this keyboard to us here on Geekhack then he has to know there will be NO TRUST anymore until it's delivered.  I know he reads what we post here to understand our pent up fury over this debacle but he has to know thus far, he has lost any genuine integrity with any of us.

I'm surprised that GH and other major KB forums (DT, kbdlab) haven't banded together to build a blacklist of known-bad actors.  Or is this a thing and I just don't know about it?

There is a proposal somewhere in the Feedback and Suggestions Forum.  I think it never went anywhere.

I know I've picked up my Pitch fork and wanted so desperately to impale him with it, here on GH Central but alas that was my juvenile sentiment that went rampant at around three in the morning.

During 'normal' daylight hours I am STILL ready to give him the benefit of doubt regarding this Group Buy.  I'm willing to wait another year till the end of 2016 (this year) to get my TX1800 keyboard.  As much as everyone is running around wanting to lynch him and dispense justice, like in the old Wild West he still has a family and I don't want to further frighten them into believing that WE westerners are that blood thirsty and vindictive when it comes to failed GBs.

If he genuinely wants to build a PERFECT TX1800 keyboard, then who are we to deny his aspiration.  But if he's trying to wriggle free from his responsibility here on GH, then God may forgive him but Geekhackers WILL NOT.

It's pretty crazy how much people are ready and willing for forgive and forget when they get their product right? Some people here forget how awesome of a job he did providing pictures/feedback, and then ultimately just disappearing once everything was finished.

Well not so much that..but that KBDLab isn't support GH at all..and what I mean by that is, doesn't anyone on GH have an account on KBD?  Can't they post something to the extent of

WTF is going on with the TX1800s that have been sold on GH but not delivered by kin?

It is then up to the community there to ask him wtf is going on...Hopefully that forces a response from him...

If it doesn't then *shrug*...we know the Korean KB community can't be trusted at all..even if they do make cool stuff...

so people from gh do have accounts there, that is the reason we are getting any updates at all

its totally unfair to make a blanket statement that the korean keyboard community cannot be trusted, and to lump them in with the actions of one

and speaking of the actions of one, whilst gh loves a good witch hunt, and whilst i appreciate all signs point to not good, until we get word from kin as to whats going on we are really just speculating

to speculate, to me it seems there are no signs that he intended to wrong the community, if he had put this buy up and taken full payment rather than deposits, i think orders would have been just the same and he would be much richer for it, to me it looks like a guy who tried his best and got in over his, mistakes happened and he is either to embarrassed or ashamed to face the consequences until he is able to offer a solution

obviously i could be way of base here, but until we hear one way or the other directly from him, i think suggestion anything other than his lack of communication has been a huge problem with only make it harder for him to come back, and discourage him further from trying to make things right

lots of people have lots of money tied up here, and we want to make the environment he returns to as easy as possible so that people have a chance to either get there stuff or there money back

im not suggesting people cant be unhappy about the situation, but all we really know for sure right now is there were some slight defects with some of the cases, and that he hasnt posted an update to us in a long time whilst he has been active in other communities

what we need is some closure, a message from kin to say one of two things, either that this got way out of control, and that he will be unable to deliver the goods as promised and what if any resolution to that he can offer, or an update on what he has been doing and why he has been silent for so long, and his plans for fulfillment moving forward

thanks sir, im certainly not trying to downplay the issues here, but many posts in this thread become counter productive to what people are trying to achieve, and once that ball starts rolling, things begin to snowball

I'm a sucker for 1800 layout so I will forever be in hope this will be fulfilled. Also, the recent messages (even though they're not from kin himself) give me some very positive feelings about this ;).

This will be fulfilled soon. Stay tuned. Kin is working of the list of pre-orders, one it's ready, I will be helping him on the coordination here on geekhack and also money collection.

We are still working the ETA. As Ki is planning to deliver the board with the revised 1800pcb (with rgb), to compensate for his delay and lack of updates for the project.

        Cheers.
