I bet demik can chime in here.

John

Dat was racist........

just kidding. But yeah, in my old neighborhood, the Mexican guy would come around with those, and it was AMAZING.

Yes, it was racist. It is called elotes and the mexicans, my wife, put chili powder on them. In america they use tajin instead of chili powder.

I would like to say the meebcast does a good job of recognizing awesome people of Geekhack... but it helps if you tune in! See signature for details. :D

That mmmty guy is pretty cool because I like his avatar. The only thing keeping him from _perfectly_ cool is his dislike of blues. Boooooooooooo!

I don't like vegetables. >_<

Who does? eeeewwwww

I like brussel sprouts with salt and butter

Man, you're scaring me. A bowl of steamed brussel sprouts completely submerged in butter (I don't really do salt), it just don't get any better than that. When I was a kid I would tell my mom I wanted baby cabbages for dinner.

A tablespoon of oil in a saucepan, very hot, toss in the raw brussels sprouts and roll them around for a minute or two until they are just getting little black spots here and there on the leaves.

Then add half a cup of water and a dash of salt (huge cloud of steam), cover, turn down the heat, and finish cooking/steaming them for another 10 minutes.

Try it, you'll like it.
"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

another circlej*** thread?

oh well i know nobody thinks i am awesome, but that is understandable given i haven't once contributed to this community other than open up my wallet every time something awesome pops up. one day though, one day.....

on subject, i think we should all get together and give out metals or some sort of plaque to outstanding awesome group buy organizers. I mean i seriously don't envy those sorting and shipping things like Klaxon, Phantom Stuffs, DSA Retro, and lol the massive amount of GH60s sold--among even more group buys active.

Just so we're all clear, ladies, that small 5th leg thing was a joke!

It was nice to meet CPT. We had pho for dinner, which was my first time, and it was really good. Then we had some pretty damn good ice cream. He brought some boards along for me to check out. The FC700R that everyone seems to want is a solid board. He even brought along a gift, which he really didn't have to do.

And I think I am going to make that thread. I talked to missalaire about maybe the three of us doing something next time I'm here. And I've already floated the possibility of meeting meeba next month.

I also spoke with missalaire and I'm more than happy to drive to Pittsburgh to have another mini meetup. Just keep us posted ^__^

none of you are awesome. hatez <3
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I just came from the GH meet up in Silicon Valley with Mkawa, Hashbaz, Jesuswasazombie, Sth, and met DamienG, Samwisekoi, Cgbuen. I didn't get there till about 2:15. Mkawa called to see where I was as I pulled in the parking lot, just before the girls started dancing. Sure wish I had gotten there sooner. Really need to do this stuff a LOT more.

What a great thread.  Deserves a bump.

Yes it does.

And I'd like to add Mkawa to my list of awesome people.

> be unemployed me

> meet Mkawa for lunch

> shoot the sh_t, talk about life, graduate school, sociology, engineering, geekhack, keyboards, and normal people stuff

> learns I have interview with Cooler Master

> sends off awesome letter of recommendation via e-mail during lunch to CM Carter

> hear back later that they're excited to meet me and Mkawa's recommendation is part of that

Whether or not I get the job, he was an awesome guy to meet with and just talk to and to get a letter of rec in the middle of lunch was awesome.  I'm not meeting with them until next month, but hopefully I'll have a job soon.  I'm feeling a lot like Charlie Day right now with the ob search, so something like that was just encouraging.
