Keyboard of the Month 2016 - March - Vote
« on: Fri, 01 April 2016, 04:14:43 »
OK, so I ****ed up on the self-nomination thing. I'm hoping that's the reason why interest has dropped off recently. But anyway, here goes March's vote for Keyboard of the Month.

First up is Spamray's HHKB

Next up is HannahPeach's JD40 with Nixdorf Blacks

More details can be found here -> https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53617.msg2100979#msg2100979

Finally is pr0ximity's Zenith Green SKCL Alps Restoration project

Build log is here -> https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=80714

Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

re: self nominations thing

the more nominations, the better imo. if someone self nominates a mediocre board, then it shouldn't end up winning anyway.

a lot of great boards are just hiding in the Making Things Together subforum, which may just go unnoticed

Another relatively easy one!

Good range of keyboards, switches and background stories this time.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

That jd 40 deserves it. It proved that carbon fiber doesn't look bad on all keyboards.

It's always nice to use a board that you know other people appreciate almost as much as you do, haha.

I looked at the keyset on the JD45 and I have no idea why the maker went with it. Seems really out of place.

I really like the Zenith especially that foam backing.  No idea but it just looks so clean.

I think it fits it in terms of contrast, but yeah, a BoB look might've been more appropriate. In the end though, it's all about what the creator themselves enjoy.
