Try harder lol, I really don't know what else to say. Nothing is impossible; If you wanted to make quality keycaps on the same level as ETF you 100% can. Don't act like these makers are supernatural beings with skills us mere mortals could never possess, its plastic shaping guys cmon.

That being said, I am currently working on starting my own artisan keycaps - I'm sure most of you will boycott my keys because of how unfavorable my opinion is, but it will be on geekhack eventually. So there's that.

No one said anything is impossible, however the likelihood of any one becoming the next ETF or KF or whatevs, is slim. Mechanically caps might be easy to make, but I think you're gonna be in for a big wake-up call if you decide to become a creator your projects are low effort. Low effort will show over time in your caps, and you will not keep up. People that don't see anything but plastic and glitter won't make anything good, the same way that if a person sees a log and only sees firewood instead of a sculpture or table etc. That type of thinking is just edgey-keebro reductionist bs.

Keycap making (any art) if anything is an "experimentful" process which, as you can see by all the different colorways and sculpts, is a test of your creative abilities and inventiveness.

I wish you luck in your endeavor and look forward to seeing your sculpts, however if you think most people will remember you enough to boycott you after today, you're probably mistaken.

Well to be fair I'm not going to leave and people will likely still get upset over the things I say, which seems to happen in a lot of maker threads that I post in...

But who said anything about my projects being low-effort, or anyone's being low-effort for that matter? You assume I'm just coming in here off the street saying "Psshh, I could do better." It takes time and research and experimentation to reach a level of quality that is acceptable for sale. That's why I'm not creating an artisan services thread yet, because I'm not at that stage. I'm sure most if not all of the makers on this forum did the same.

It's simply not as un-achievable as some of us make it out to be.

Unachievable?! No. Just too lazy to go through the whole process to do them on my own and the only person who really seems upset here is you...The easiest solution is if you don't like the way the sale is being held then don't enter.. Easy as that, move on and maybe enter the sales that you feel better about opting in to?

Look at the bottom, the pink & orange circle are unique/one off. It means there only 1 cap.

oh... i see..
so some winner can chance to get that one?
thanks for telling me anyway.  :thumb:
A small chance yes :)

i see...
Im not winner anyway lol
i just want to know, coz im noob.  ;D
thanks!
Of course buddy, always ask! We have all been noobs at some point and the best way to avoid mistakes is to ask :)

Thanks, you very kind bro.  :D

I didnt do the math exactly, but i think around 5%. I would assume most went for 4 caps

But I guess the simplified answer is: pretty low.
I could count 501 caps, but that's of there's a max of all the colors, but the code means "less than x" as far as I know so it's likely less than that, maybe 400 I would imagine.

So 400 caps
People are in for an average of 3
That makes 133 winners of 1351 entries
1351/133 = 10% chance

That's some really good odds actually

But that is is most people were in for 3 caps and if my cap count is correct.

If we knew the average number people wanted, exactly how many caps and invoices sent we could account it.

why I am honestly curious? I mean how is not beneficial in all way's to limit it to one cap per person? Can't argue it wouldn't help the community cause it would grow? Couldn't argue it hurt sales.. cause they still sale? I mean genuinely curious to what limiting people to 1 per person would do.. short of making sure more people got to participate?

He ships in flat rate postal boxes. The hardest thing would be trying not to get paper cuts when adhering the labels. Shoot if you wanted to you could get the boxes setup first then the labels.. then the items... I mean its not really that daunting of a task your looking at maybe 4hrs top. Even picking the people wouldn't be that hard... only hard part might be sending out 400 invoices now that I could see being a PITA.

I think the takeaway is that not every sale needs to be the same format (a little variety is good!). After all remember that time when nightcaps did 94 sales in a row where the win limit was one cap? I do.

thats why I advocate one per person... its not like they wont sale
1 cap per person is silly if you ask me.

why I am honestly curious? I mean how is not beneficial in all way's to limit it to one cap per person? Can't argue it wouldn't help the community cause it would grow? Couldn't argue it hurt sales.. cause they still sale? I mean genuinely curious to what limiting people to 1 per person would do.. short of making sure more people got to participate?

I think the takeaway is that not every sale needs to be the same format (a little variety is good!). After all remember that time when nightcaps did 94 sales in a row where the win limit was one cap? I do.
Remember that time when funkybeat7 was happy to win a nightcaps raffle and enjoyed Poisoned Summer without arguing over how someone else conducts their business.
Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I wouldn't mind a high quality print of it to hang on the wall!
