Sun Type 5C vs Filco Cherry brown
« on: Wed, 13 October 2010, 14:57:17 »
Hello everyone.

I have been reading the forum and decided it's time to introduce myself.

I am from Spain and looking to buy a new keyboard. Currently I have a Lenovo T61p which I will attach an external display to; so will need a keyboard as the lid will be kept closed.

At the moment I have a Sun type 5C keyboard (think is all rubberdome) which it's completely clean, but I would need to buy an adapter for it (not cheap, around the 60euro figure).

The other alternative is to get a Filco with brown switches, as they are the preferred for me by reading some reviews here.

The main use of my keyboard will be typing and ocasional gaming.

I really like the feel of my Sun keyboard but don't know wether its worth to buy the adapter or go for the filco.

Thanks and regards.

Well, it is a type of Topre.

I've used the Sun Type 5 before. A well built rubber dome keyboard, but not particularly excellent either. The Filco would be an improvement.

Or you build one yourself.

Personally, I find the Sun type 5 to be one of the most beautiful keyboards ever, but also one of the most horrible to type on.
