Looking great mate! Obviously if the price isn't substantial I reckon go for it :) You may need to radius the corners on those hexagons so the inner corner (on the enclosure) can be properly machined, but yeah, looks sweeet!

That weight will be expensive. The Mira had to change from a single piece weight to using 3 connected pieces.
That change allowed each piece of the weight to have very simple cuts.
Machining that piece from one slab will be quote expensive and it will be unwise to separate them into multiple pieces. Those hexagons have to be oriented properly to fit in the case and therefore cannot be cut as separate pieces and screwed down unless the threads are precisely machined.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be looking into it a lot.  Just throwing around ideas right now :)

I'll also look at different materials for it, other than brass.

Stainless steel is the second most poplar weight material.
Also, do listen to Rama about having rounded off edges for the hexagons.
Due to the bits of cnc machines being circular, inner cuts have to be rounded at a minimum equal to the radius of the bit.

I'm digging the hexagons, can't say the same about the rectangular one. I think just having the numbers would look better than numbers + letters

The rectangular portion of the weight is the topside which is only visible when you open up the case and take our the PCB.
The hexagons are what appear on the underside of the case; it's just one single weight.

What FrostyToast said.  They're the same piece, just different sides of it.  The larger rectangular part is inside the case, and will only be seen with the top removed.

Ohh my bad, thought they were two different concepts. Anyhow, I'm all for the brass weight

Even more new renders!

This time I decided to render the weight as stainless steel, just to get an idea of how it would look.  I believe that this is the final revision before I get a prototype.  I'll try to get ballpark costs of it in a groupbuy when I place the order for a prototype. I also updated the detailing on the weight, with a maple leaf, because Canada.

Not really sure why the aluminum material causes it to look splotchy...

Loving the HEX shapes and of course your Canadian Leaf which is something to like, in a world still worshiping the Stars and Stripes and Union Jacks.

Hope your keyboard becomes a reality here, we can never have too much TKL love on GH Central  8) .

hey look, perspective renders! yay!

If that gray-looking piece is a PC diffuser, you may need to consider filling the insides with it in order to get under-PCB light to diffuse properly. Otherwise you might have an issue getting even light, with the screw holes in the way, depending on rgb placement etc.

also hopefully you plan to have your plate support switch top removal!

I'm not quite sure where you'd want that on the board.  I can't do individually numbered boards, so it would be the same  across all of them.

I'm really starting to get my heart set on this keyboard. For those that have joined GB for custom TKLs with a limited number of spots, how hard do you think it is going to be to get into this buy? I guess I should start keeping a very close eye on the group buys forum.

Guess who has more renders!  I know everyone is probably tired of just renders, but this should be fairly representative of the colour options.

It actually looks lighter than most golds I have seen.
Champagne gold is a pale light variant of gold. Perhaps the lighting in the renders is off.

I'll just call it gold and finalize the colour once the prototype is ready to be ordered.
